RSS# 51 & 52 (ቆማችኋል – ሙሴም ሄዶ/נִצָּבִים – וַיֵּלֶךְ)

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Nitz’ab(v)im – נִצָּבִים.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5780-5781, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 22nd כב, & the 23rd – כג, day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl – אֱלוּל , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is also known as Q’omahKH’wal – ቆማችኋል, also on the 1st – , & on the 2nd – , of the month of Mäskäräm – መስከረምThe Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

In this portion of the Scripture studies’, Moses tells the people that adherence and obedience to the laws, which they were given/taught would allow them to prolong their days in the land, & make them fruitful in abundance; but, turning away would lead them to destruction.  Only turning to the ways which the children of Israel were taught would the God of the Hebrews, accept them again into grace.

Because of their waywardness, God spoke to Moses, telling him to teach the Israelites that the covenant would not only pertain to them alone, though Israel would be a people to God(himself); but, the covenant would also include those that would stand with Israel, once upon hearing the words of the book of the Law.  Those who would not hearken to the word, of course, would be a testament to the judgment of disobedience.

Knowing these things and that they were taught them, being the children of Israel, it would call to remembrance the Blessing & the Curse of the Law.

With that said, we also take the time to study the parsha of W(V)eyelech’k – וַיֵּלֶךְ , which corresponds with the portion of Musey’m Heydo – ሙሴም ሄዶ.

In this second installation of the Sabbath readings for this week; Moses prepared the children of Israel to go into the land of Promise.  Moses, being an hundred and twenty years old, knew that the time had come when God said that he would not cross the Jordan.  Because, he did not sanctify God, at the waters of Meribah, he would go to sleep with his fathers, instead of enter into the Promised Land.  Moses is instructed to charge Joshua ben-Nun(the son of Nun) to lead the people in the ways God had commanded them.

Moses then, wrote the words of the Law, and had them placed into the Ark of the Covenant by the priests(ie. the Levites) and all the elders of Israel.

{the words of the LAWTorah, were placed inside the Ark of the Covenant, along with the “Budded” Staff of High Priest Aaron(Moses’ brother), and the manna, which the God of the Hebrew people-El Elohe Israel, gave to the children of Israel in the wilderness}

He also instructed the children of Israel to set apart the Seventh Year as the “Year of Release”(or the Shemittah-), during the time of the Feast of Tabernacles/Booths/Ingathering(ie. Sukkot-סֻכּוֹת), all of Israel should come to hear the Law, to call it to their remembrance for their following generations to know and obey.

Moses brought Joshua in the presence of all Israel to bless him, give him his charge, where God was present with them.  For God knew that the children of Israel would turn away from the ways that they were taught.

Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations is here wishing you all a VERY HAPPY ETHIOPIAN NEW YEAR!

RRR is proud to have been here studying, giving commentary, and sharing in the fellowship of Ras Tafari.  It has been thoroughly enjoyable, fulfilling to see the responses from all the people from all walks of life, seeking truth, wherever it may be found when pertaining to the Scriptures, (in the light of Ras Tafari), so on & so forth.

We have come through OUR Hebrew-Lunar cycle of time-keeping and will continue our Torah for the Hebraic year, which has brought to year 5780-5781.  But, in OUR Ethiopic-Solar New Year (2013/7513 EC). Which marks quite a significant year, prophetically from a Biblical perspective.

We also would like to alert ones that in the United States of America 🇺🇸, in & around the Washington, D.C., areas; in the capital houses the largest concentrated area of Ethiopian diasporans.  In this American capital area the Ethiopian New Year has been added officially* to the religious national recognized holidays. All due to credit to the economically upwardly mobile and politically active diasporans; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations.

Though, the year has had its times of trial and times of joy, & some seem to outweigh the other, we all have come though another year, in hopes of seeing many more. (RRR wishes peace, and prosperity to you all!)

Going forward, RRR, has a few short announcements to make…There has begun a process for bringing forward hard copies of this past year’s Sabbath readings with RRR commentary, & availability with be provided for all of those who, wish seek to retain a copies. (Please, stand by?…)

This week for our studies of the Holy Scriptures, we come to the portion of Tazria (Ki-Tazria) / B’taregiz.  Though, it has been recognized and expounded upon, the Bible contains more than religious & spiritual anecdotes, but contains passages that are beneficial for life experiences.

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the God of Israel, speaks to Moses in the manner of explanation on childbirth. This portion of Scriptures has a defined word that comes to a literal English meaning of…”when she conceives/when she bears a child.”

In motherhood, there are specific functions of the anatomy of woman that closely correspond with process of healing for the woman, who has just become the mother of a child.

God explains to Moses the order of actions that should take place upon the birth of children among them.(Hebrews/Israelites)  Tazria, gives a word-sound(interpretation) on the method of recovery for women, who have given birth to a child.

The Scripture study for this Sabbath lays a foundation for the rest period of a mother who has recently given birth & how things should go about for the retrieval of her strength, physically and mentally; dealing with it from a Hebraic/Israelitish Torah perspective.

Also, in the Scripture portion study the care for the child(after birth) whether male or female are given to the children of Israel, by way of Moses from YHWH.  In this case, the method presented can either be enlightening and show a parallel to “modern world” childbirth…or by the wording, which comes to us in a slew of mistranslation can deter one from looking to the Scriptures to seek some understanding of the universal issues of life.  Specifically for the children of Israel, there were commandments, laws and other stipulations that clearly distinguished them from other peoples of the world.

For example, though there would be no rules of God for the young women born of Israel, mainly because anatomically upon the birth in contrast to the birthing of young men; the mother goes through different experiences.  So, with that said, there are different recovery stipulations between birthing a girl from a boy. (also, the commandment of Circumcision was addressed ONLY to the Hebrew males children, eight days after birth.

God also instructed Moses, to teach the children of Israel, the ritual and cultural practices, along with the sacrifices or offerings that were to be made for the ushering of a newborn into the community of Israel.

The portion of the study of the Scriptures for this week is Metz’orah- מְּצֹרָעMetz’orah has a meaning that comes in the English as either “one being diseased,” or “one infected.”  In the Ethiopic-Judeo-Christian perspective, this parsha(portion) of the Scriptures is named Bements’atu Q’en-በመንጻቱ ቀን.  This study deals with the interaction with what has come to be known as a “Leper.”  In this portion of Scripture study, God instructs Moses, on how to deal with those who may be of Israel who might become infected with the disease of leprosy.

The instruction was given to Moses for the sake of the children of Israel, but this didn’t exclude the instruction for healing to be exclusive of anyone who sought out an end to the cleansing.

In keeping true to his covenant with Israel, God has continued to show that his knowledge is Supreme and the intent is for the well-being of the children of Israel to be fruitful.  God continues to provide abundant information to Moses, to deliver to the community for them to apply to their everyday life.

Abyssinian priest. Abyssinia (what is now Ethiopia) has had a Christian church since the 1st century, with Orthodox Christianity established in the 4th century and attempts made to introduce Catholicism in the 16th century. This turbaned priest’s staff (crozier) includes a cross and Christ figure. This woodcut portrait is from ‘Cosmographie universelle’ (1575) by the French explorer and writer Andre Thevet (1516-1590). This book described the history and geography of the lands in which Thevet had travelled. The two volumes and four tomes contain over 1000 pages divided into 23 books. This portrait is from chapter XIII of book II.

This making the children of Israel equipped to not only sustain themselves from illness, but even from the last parsha/kifil; Tazria, which dealt with the “mothership,” in the childbearing stage of living.  In a generational sense, the children of Israel, were to keep these laws, statutes, and commandments.

On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ)

This portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses gathers the children of Israel together to relay rules & regulations for the Sabbath, & how they are to conduct themselves and teach the following generations as a statute among them, forever.  Moses also gave instructions to the children of Israel for the construction of the Tabernacle.

Moses, also explained that there would be two chosen among them that would offer their craftsmanship, and work to construct a place where God could come and dwell among the children of Israel while they made their way through the .  Then were found Betz’aleel ben-Uri (ben Uri= son of Uri), out of the tribe of Judah, & Aholiab ben-Achiycamakh (ben Achiycamakh= son of Akisamac) were called by God to be the chief artisans/masons of the Tabernacle in the wilderness.  But this didn’t exclude any of the wise-hearted (men or women: [Exod. 35: 20-26]), skilled and resourceful among the children of Israel to participate.

While the people brought willingly to God, the items for the construction of the Tabernacle, which they could  provide; it was brought to Moses’ attention that they brought more than what would be needed.  Moses then gave commandment and proclamation to the children of Israel that they be restrained from bringing anymore gifts/offerings to the builders and the wise-hearted for the service.

The children of Israel, then went on to construct the Tabernacle in the wilderness for YHWH to come and dwell amongst them.  Dividing the tasks of workmanship among each other, the Hebrews worked diligently constructed the ornaments of the Tabernacle, like the outer courts’ pillars, and the curtains.  The skilled and blessed craftsmen continued their work until all the vestments of the priests,and all of the furniture of the inner sanctum were completed.

♔ Ethiopian Celebration of Christmas _ Genna/YeLidet Be’Al (ገና – የልደት በዓል) ♔

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the Ethiopian holiday of Genna or otherwise called “YeLidet Be’al.”  Because of the calculations of the Ethiopic calendar, we find that the Christmas that is known in the Western world, using the Gregorian calendar doesn’t correspond with the Orthodox Christian churches’ calculations. (though they differ from specific church to church, within the Orthodoxy)  Instead of December 25th, or the twenty-fifth day of the 12th calendar month (Gregorian), we see that the date arrives on January 7th, or the seventh day of the 1st calendar month.

(Orthodox Christian teachings give this as a testimony for the celebration of the birth of Christ)

During the first three centuries [A.D. – Anno Domini/After the Death of Christ], in the Churches of Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria and Cyprus, the Nativity of Christ was combined together with the Feast of His Baptism on January 6, and called “Theophany” (“Manifestation of God”).

This was because of a belief that Christ was baptized on the anniversary of His birth, which may be inferred from St. John Chrysostom’s sermon on the Nativity of Christ: “it is not the day on which Christ was born which is called Theophany, but rather that day on which He was baptized.”

By Ethiopic calculations, the birth of Christ, occurs on the Julian calendar‘s framework; predating the Gregorian.  In Eastern Christian (or Orthodox Christian sects) some, Orthodox Christians observe the “Nativity and Adoration of the Shepherds” on January 6th, & the following day may observe, the “Adoration of the Magi” (or otherwise known as the three kings/wise men) on January 7.  Other Orthodox Christians may attend church liturgies on the 6th, or both.

This week’s portion of the study of the Scriptures, is Toldot, by Hebrew meaning “generations“, pertaining to descent.  Coincidentally, the readings begin the Rebekah enduring a long period of time where she was barren; having no child with her husband, IsaacIsaac loved Rebekah dearly, & pleaded God on her behalf.

His prayers were accounted for and God blessed them, because Rebekah conceived.

Rebekah was due to give birth to twins, in which God spoke to her, saying that that were two nations that struggled within her.

Two manner of people, that would be separated from her.  One would be stronger than the other, and the older would serve the younger.  Thus Esau & Jacob were born to, Rebekah &Isaac.  Esau was a skilled hunter, Jacob was a simple man, dwelling in tents, wholesome.  But, leaving a man of the field to match wits with a man of intellect, Jacob was able to convince Esau to give up his birthright. (But Esau, despising his birthright made it all but difficult)

After convincing Esau to give up his birthright, Jacob, with the help of his mother Rebekah also was able to receive a blessing from his father, Isaac. ( a blessing that was meant for Esau)

Esau, even took wives from among the Hittites, which was of concern for Rebekah & Isaac.

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Again, this is Lidj Yefdi, wishing everyone a very blessed Sukkot!  Other names for this High Holy Day or appointed time as translated from the Hebrew language comes to us as; the “Feast of Booths,” the “Tabernacles/Festival of Tabernacles,” or as the “Ingathering.”

The Festival of Sukkot begins on the 15th, of the Hebrew month of Tishrei & is observed for seven days. (five days after Yom Kippur)  Sukkot, is in many ways very opposite to the observance of Yom Kippur, especially as ones would know and find it among peoples of today.  One reason in saying this is that Sukkot is very joyful and it is commonly referred to in modern day Jewish prayer and literature as Z’man Símcḥatéinu זמן שמחתינו; more literally translated to the English language as: “The Season of Our Rejoicing.”  Now in a similar fashion of the celebration of Passover and Shabuot, Sukkot has a significance that is doubled in a sense, especially when pertaining to its historical and agricultural perspectives.

In a historical manner, the celebration of Sukkot commemorates the (40) forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness, living in temporary shelters.  Hence, for the term “Feast or Festival of Tabernacles,” in the similar way the Tabernacle/Tent of Meeting and encampment of the children of Israel was constructed while making the Exodus with the significant role of the furnishings playing their respective parts.    Agriculturally, Sukkot is a harvest festival and is sometimes referred to as Chag Ha-Asífחג האסף, translating to the “Festival of Ingathering.”

Sukkot is the third and the culmination of the Shalosh Regalim, or commonly known as the “Three Pilgrimage Festivals of Israel.”

Sukkot is a very joyous festival/feast day, & there are various ways of maintaining observances.  In the final of day of the memorial of Sukkot, the day is referred to as HoShanna Rabbah, which is a special observance with the use of bundling willow branches.

Sukkot, in summation is the children of Israel residing in a temporary state, resembling & calling to remembrance the time in the wilderness post-Exodus but, pre-entering into the Land of Promise.

Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations is here wishing you all a VERY HAPPY ETHIOPIAN NEW YEAR!

RRR is proud to have been here studying, giving commentary, and sharing in the fellowship of Ras Tafari.  It has been thoroughly enjoyable, fulfilling to see the responses from all the people from all walks of life, seeking truth, wherever it may be found when pertaining to the Scriptures, (in the light of Ras Tafari), so on & so forth.

We have come through OUR Hebrew-Lunar cycle of time-keeping and will continue our Torah for the Hebraic year, which has brought to year 5779-5780.  But, in OUR Ethiopic-Solar New Year (2012/7512 EC). Which marks quite a significant year, prophetically from a Biblical perspective.

We also would like to alert ones that in the United States of America 🇺🇸, in & around the Washington, D.C., areas; in the capital houses the largest concentrated area of Ethiopian diasporans.  In this American capital area the Ethiopian New Year has been added officially* to the religious national recognized holidays. All due to credit to the economically upwardly mobile and politically active diasporans; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations.

Though, the year has had its times of trial and times of joy, & some seem to outweigh the other, we all have come though another year, in hopes of seeing many more. (RRR wishes peace, and prosperity to you all!)

Going forward, RRR, has a few short announcements to make…There has begun a process for bringing forward hard copies of this past year’s Sabbath readings with RRR commentary, & availability with be provided for all of those who, wish seek to retain a copies. (Please, stand by?…)

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to seek insight) into the study of the Scriptures.  So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Shabbat) we move into the opening of the Torah portion with Acḥáreï Mōt – אַחֲרֵי מוֹת; on the 29th – כט, & on the 30thל,  from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel; on of the month of Abib(Aviv) – אביב/ Nisan – נִיסָן. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)  From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as KéMōtū Be’Cḥʷalla – ከሞቱ በኋላ – ; on the 25th – ፳፭, & on the 26th – ፳፮, of the month of Mïyazya – (ሚያዝያ).  On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez – ግእዝ).

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, after the death Aaron’s two sons (Nadab & Abihu), Moses is instructed by God to teach the children of Israel his ways for properly conducting themselves for the service of the Tabernacle.

This portion of the Scriptures deals with the rituals which have become what is known today as Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement); Ethiopically known as “Astesryo Q’en” among the Hebrew/Judaic faithful.  When Moses receives the laws and instruction for the practices to be conducted, he is instructed to “cast lots” upon two goats, for the children of Israel. One “lot” is to be cast for an offering to God & the other for a “scapegoat.”

The one goat that was be presented before God, for a sin offering.  The other goat was to be left alive, presented to God for an atonement & set free into the wilderness carrying the sins of the children of Israel away from the camp.  This ritual along with the other practices of the offerings/sacrifice were to be done in the Tabernacle (Mishkan[HB] – Dinkʷan[ET]), especially as a statute for Israel on the 10th day of the 7th (Tishrei תִּשְׁרִי) month.

I welcome you all to a new regenartion of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of the Torah portion with W(V)ayakhel – וַיַּקְהֵל, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5779 year, this Sabbath day would more than likely fall on the 24th – כד, & on the 25th – כה, of the month of  Adar-אֲדָר . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)  From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to 2011/7511 year, in what is known as Seb’s’bo – ሰብስቦ; on the 22nd – ፳፪, & on the 23rd – ፳፫, on the (ወርኀ) month of የካቲት (Yekateet).  In the Scriptures, what is also known as . On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ)

This portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses gathers the children of Israel together to relay rules & regulations for the Sabbath, & how they are to conduct themselves and teach the following generations as a statute among them, forever.  Moses also gave instructions to the children of Israel for the construction of the Tabernacle.

Moses, also explained that there would be two chosen among them that would offer their craftsmanship, and work to construct a place where God could come and dwell among the children of Israel while they made their way through the .  Then were found Betz’aleel ben-Uri (ben Uri= son of Uri), out of the tribe of Judah, & Aholiab ben-Achiycamakh (ben Achiycamakh= son of Akisamac) were called by God to be the chief artisans/masons of the Tabernacle in the wilderness.  But this didn’t exclude any of the wise-hearted (men or women: [Exod. 35: 20-26]), skilled and resourceful among the children of Israel to participate.

While the people brought willingly to God, the items for the construction of the Tabernacle, which they could  provide; it was brought to Moses’ attention that they brought more than what would be needed.  Moses then gave commandment and proclamation to the children of Israel that they be restrained from bringing anymore gifts/offerings to the builders and the wise-hearted for the service.

The children of Israel, then went on to construct the Tabernacle in the wilderness for YHWH to come and dwell amongst them.  Dividing the tasks of workmanship among each other, the Hebrews worked diligently constructed the ornaments of the Tabernacle, like the outer courts’ pillars, and the curtains.  The skilled and blessed craftsmen continued their work until all the vestments of the priests,and all of the furniture of the inner sanctum were completed.
