Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee). I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures. So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the Torah portion of W(V)ayesheb-וַיֵּשֶׁב.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5774, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 19th-יטכ, & the 20th-כ, of the Hebrew month of Kislew(v)-כִּסְלֵו,for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2006/2026/7506, on the Ethiopic calendar.  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 13th-፲፫, & the 14th-፲፬, on the (ወርኀ)month of KH’idar-ኅዳር.  In the Scriptures, what is also known as Benorebet TeQ’emeT’e-በኖረበት ተቀመጠ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Genesis 37:1 – 40:23

Amos 2: 6- 3:8

Matthew 1: 1-6; (same chapter: 16-25)

This kifil(portion) of the study of the Scriptures, deals with the stories of the lives of the B’nei Ysrael(or the sons of Israel-Jacob).

B'nei Yshrael-B'nei Yaakob (Twelve Sons of Jacob-Israel)

…each of them having a particular situation they had to deal with, in specific intervals of time, in their lives…

For instance, from the past parsha/kifil(portion), of W(V)ayishlaKH’-Lake’, Simeon & Levi, Jacob-Israel‘s sons by Leah, slew the Shechemites for the rape of their sister, Dinah.

wayishlech - parsha [simeon-and-levi-slay-the-shechemites]

Reuben, violated his father, and his other wife, by sleeping with her in the depth of the night, while she thought that it was her husband. (so the firstborn, not only violated his father, but his birthright as well)

Benjamin, is born of Jacob-Israel‘s wife, Rachel, but his birth goes “hand-in-hand” with Rachel‘s passing. (leaving him as the “baby of the family” & attracting much of Jacob‘s attention)

Now, in this portion of study, Jacob-Israel settled in Canaan.  While in Canaan, Joseph, Jacob-Israel‘s other son of Rachel, is adorned by his father with a beautiful coat with an array of colors and designs.  The love, Joseph received from his father evoked the jealousy of his brothers, & the ability to tune into the dreams and visions, which God continued to send him, did no better for Joseph, pertaining to his brother’s envy.

[Gen. 37: 1-11]

Joseph's dream of the sheaves

Joseph’s dream of the sheaves & stars

Joseph‘s brothers were in Shechem to feed their flocks, & Jacob sent Joseph, to join them.  But, because of their envy, Joseph’s brothers plotted against him, to the point that they considered killing him.

[Gen. 37: 12-24]

Joseph sold by his brother to Midianites

Joseph sold by Midianites into Egypt

But, because the other sons of Jacob-Israel, had not found their brother Joseph in the place where they left him, which was a pit with no water.  Then the other brother, made a story to tell their father that their brother was killed by a wild beast, for they wished not to tell Jacob-Israel, that they plotted rid themselves of their brother, for they were envious of him.

[Gen. 37: 25-36]

Now, in an interim, from the story of Joseph; his brother, Judah marries a Canaanite woman, whom was the daughter of Shua.  This daughter of Shua bore Judah, three sons: Er, Onan &, Shelah.  After the disobedience and deaths of the first two sons, Judah was left to care for his daughter-in-law, Tamar, whom had married his firstborn son, ErOnan, was to take on responsibility of being the caretaker, & his brother’s keeper, in the matters of his sister-in-law, Tamar, but he(Onan) rejected the responsibility; & provoked God to punish him.  So, Judah, as her(Tamar) father-in-law, proposed that she return to her family, & await until Shelah;  Judah‘s youngest was to come of age, so that he may assume the position of being his brother’s keeper.

Shelah grew, but he was not given to Tamar, for a husband.  So, she plotted to make Judah acknowledge that he had wronged her, in that his arrangement, responsibility, & commitment to her as a father-in-law, had not been kept.

[Gen. 38]

So, returning to Joseph‘s story; he ends up in Egypt, a servant to Potiphar, a captain of the Egyptian guard.  Joseph, while in servitude, is blessed by God that even the Egyptians sense that there is something special about him.  Joseph finds himself in charge of the many things that someone of his status just hadn’t been able to attain.  But, of course, a challenge to his continued success is inevitable.  So, the wife of Potiphar, is enamored by Joseph, continuously tried to persuade him to sleep with her: but, he resisted her, every time.  But, in one instance, Potiphar was on leave from his home leaving Joseph in charge of all that he had.  Potiphar, trusting Joseph, Potiphar‘s wife, took the opportunity to get Joseph all to herself.  Joseph, again refused her, but she forced herself upon him, to the point that he had to flee from her, leaving his garment in her hand.  She being ashamed & angered at Joseph, made false accusations, but turned the words in Potiphar‘s guards and Potiphar‘s ears that Joseph, found himself in the prisons of Egypt, for betrayal, among other accusations.

[Gen. 39: 1-23]

Joseph resist Potiphar's wife

Joseph resist Potiphar’s wife

But, while in prison, Joseph is still favored by God, for staying steadfast even in the midst of his adversity; he receives the responsibility that not many would’ve as a prisoner, interpreting dreams and visions, like the ones he had as a child in the land of Canaan.

This reading of the Scriptures translates from the Hebrew as, “Listen.”  This provides a vivid imagery as Moses gives his testimony of the children of Israel’s journey.  Moses also gives his account which he received from God, about the land of Promise, and how God intends to heal the land which he Promised, and to make it fertile.

In this portion of the Scripture studies’, Moses tells the people that adherence and obedience to the laws, which they were given/taught would allow them to prolong their days in the land, & make them fruitful in abundance; but, turning away would lead them to destruction.  Only turning to the ways which the children of Israel were taught would the God of the Hebrews, accept them again into grace.

Because of their waywardness, God spoke to Moses, telling him to teach the Israelites that the covenant would not only pertain to them alone, though Israel would be a people to God(himself); but, the covenant would also include those that would stand with Israel, once upon hearing the words of the book of the Law.  Those who would not hearken to the word, of course, would be a testament to the judgment of disobedience.

With that said, we also take the time to study the parsha of W(V)eyeleKH’-וַיֵּלֶךְ , which corresponds with the portion of Musey’m Heydo-ሙሴም ሄዶ.

In this second installation of the Sabbath readings for this week; Moses prepared the children of Israel to go into the land of Promise.  Moses, being an hundred and twenty years old, knew that the time had come when God said that he would not cross the Jordan.  Because, he did not sanctify God, at the waters of Meribah, he would go to sleep with his fathers, instead of enter into the Promised Land.  Moses is instructed to charge Joshua ben-Nun(the son of Nun) to lead the people in the ways God had commanded them.

[Deut. 31: 1-8]

Moses then, wrote the words of the Law, and had them placed into the Ark of the Covenant by the priests(ie. the Levites) and all the elders of Israel.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Ki-Tab(v)o-כִּי-תָבוֹא .  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5773, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 17thיז , & the 18thיח , day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is also known as Begebah’m Ğeezěy-በገባህም ጊዜ, also on the 17th-፲፯, & on the 18th-፲፰, of the month of (ነሐሴ)Nehäsey.

Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:1- 29:9

Isaiah 60: 1-22

Ephesians 1: 3-6

Revelations 21: 10-27

This study portion of the Scriptures, deals with the children of Israel, in what order they should follow upon entering into the Land, which God had promised their foreparents.  THIS SABBATH STUDY PORTION, LAYS OUT EXACTLY HOW THE HEBREW PEOPLE WOULD BE BLESSED; ALBEIT, THEY KEPT & TOOK HEED OF THE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, OR CURSED, IF THEY WERE TO TURN AWAY FROM WHAT THEY WERE TAUGHT BY MOSES.

So, the children of Israel were to present the firstfruits of the land to the priests, and the priests were to present these firstfruits upon the altar; giving thanks & praise to God, because while in bondage/servitude the children of Israel, sewed seeds but did not reap the benefits of their labor.  In the Land of Promise, the children of Israel were at the liberty to sew their seeds with gladness and joy, keeping to the ways they were taught.

[Deut. 26: 1-11]

first fruits

Now, when it came to tithes, the children of Israel in the third year, were to give a tenth appropriated to the Levitical-Priesthood, the strangers/guests/foreigners(interpreted from the Ancient Languages of the Scriptures) which would be living among them, the fatherless(or the orphaned), & the widowed.  This kind of tithing would be a testament to the children of Israel being the chosen, peculiar people(vrs.19) upon the face of the Earth, that within their gates which God had provided/promised to them, they would most certainly seek to feed, clothe & shelter.

[Deut. 26: 12-19]

ki tabo-parsha (tithes) Malachi

Moses, and the elders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel , then charged the Hebrew people to keep all of the commandments, laws and statutes; and upon crossing over the river Jordan into the Land of Promise, on Mount Ebal, the children of Israel were build an altar with whole stones to God-writing the Law(Torah) on these great stones.  This mountain was to be a mountain where peace offerings were to be made to God.

[Deut. 27: 1-8]

Now, with this ordination, there then came the two mountains.  Moses & the Levites spoke to the Hebrew people, explaining that upon this works, the children of Israel should take heed to themselves, for they were to become the people of God, if they would harken to his laws.

Moses then said, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people, Simeon, Levi , Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin: (verse 12) And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse the people, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. (verse 13)

From there, the Levites, then laid out the a proclamation of the curses, for those who would turn away from the law.

On L, Mt.Gerizim (Blessing) and on R, Mt.Ebal (Curse) – Nablus Panorama in Israel.

Then, the Blessings for obedience to the laws, statutes, and commandments were spoken to the children of Israel.

[Deut. 28: 1-14]

But also, the Cursing for the disobedience of the laws of God, would befall the Hebrew people & would become identifying factors of the Hebrews’ stiffnecked ways toward God’s laws.

[Deut. 28: 15-68]

"...And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations wither the LORD shall lead thee..." [Deut. 28: 37]

“…And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations wither the LORD shall lead thee…” [Deut. 28: 37]

Moses, then charged the people once more, to keep the commandments; to observe & do them diligently.  For it was known to all of them the wonders which God had done for them; from the coming out of Egypt (Exodus) – to the going into the Promised Land.

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, more than likely have come to the Torah portion of W(v)a’etKH’anan-וָאֶתְחַנַּן . On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5773, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 12th-יב , & the 13th-יג , day of the Hebrew month of Ab(v)-אב , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is also known as Lemenhu-ለመንሁ, also for the 12th-(፲፪) & the 13th-(፲፫),  days of the ወርኀ(month) of ሐምሌ(Hámlæ).  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 3:23- 7:11

Isaiah 40: 1-26

Matthew 23: 31-39

Mark 12: 28-34

In this second reading of the Book of Deuteronomy, Moses pleads with God for a chance to see the Land of Promise.(Wa’etKH’anan-“& I Pleaded“)

& I Pleaded-ለመንሁ-וָאֶתְחַנַּן

& I Pleaded-ለመንሁ-וָאֶתְחַנַּן

Moses knowing that though God favored him in grace, he was still displeased with the Striking of the Rock at the Waters of Maribah.  For his disobedience and the disobedience of the children of Israel that came out of Egypt during the “Exodus,” he remembers that God said that he, along with that generation would not enter into the Promised Land.

[Deut. 3: 23-27 ]

God allows Moses to go up atop Pisgah, & views the land, but God also instructs Moses to encourage Joshua, because he shall lead the children of Israel in to the land.

[Deut. 3: 28 & 29]

Moses is also instructed by God to stress the emphasis on keeping God’s laws, statutes, commandments, & judgments that they were taught.  The children of Israel were to hearken to those laws & teach them to the children, also the following generations.  The children of Israel were to never turn to worship the works of the hands(or idols).

[Deut. 4: 1-22]

The children of Israel were instructed to heed of the covenant with God, which they received at Mount Sinai.  Failure to do so would result in the punishments or judgments, for disobedience.(ie; the scattering of the people among many other nations, and serving idol gods, etc.{Duet. 4: 27 & 28})

[Deut. 4: 23-40]

Deut. 4: 26-31 (...the LORD will scatter you among the nations...)

Deut. 4: 26-31 (…the LORD will scatter you among the nations…)

Moses, then set up the Cities of Refuge, which God had command bet put in place.  So, Moses severed three cities: Bezer, in the wilderness, Ramoth, in Gilead, & Golan, in Bashan.[Deut. 4: 41-49]

Cities of Refuge-East of the Jordan River (Golan, Ramoth, & Bezer) [Deut 4: 41-44]

& Moses also reminded the children of Israel of the covenant, which God made with them, while they were at the mountain of Sinai.  Whereas, the Decalogue was iterated to them as apart of the laws, statutes, commandments and judgments, they were to keep & teach to the following generations.

[Deut. 5]

All the laws, statutes, commandments and judgments of God, were the children of Israel to learn, & teach to their children.  Even the Word of Witness(or the Shem’a), they were to hear, observe & do; that it would be well with the, and that they would increase in the Land of Promise.

[Deut. 6]

{THE WORD OF WITNESS/the SHEM’A}

& with the Word of Witness, the children of Israel were given, they were also instructed to love God with all their heart, soul, & strength(might). [Christ says; heart, soul, mind & strength (Mk. 12: 30)]  & they were to love their neighbors, as themselves, having these words not only come from their mouths, but be in their hearts.

(see. Apostles ask CHRIST of the 1st Commandment of all[vr.28], & CHRIST tells the first & second Greatest Commandments.[vrs.29-31]  Mk. 12: 28-34/Brit KH’adashah-Haddis Kidan)

[Deut. 6: 1-6]

Deuteronomy 6: 7 & 8

Deuteronomy 6: 7 & 8

When the children of Israel were to come into the land, keeping all of the laws, statutes, commandments, & judgments of God; they were to drive out nations like; the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, & the Jebusites from among them.  The children of Israel were to have dealings with them, as well.
