RSS # 30 (ቅዱሳን/ קְדֹשִׁים)

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to seek insight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Kédoshyïm – קְדֹשִׁים, for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5779 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the, 5thה, & on the 6thו, of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Q’idusan – ቅዱሳን, on the 2nd – ፪, & 3rd – ፫, days of the ወርኀ(month)- ግንቦት(Gínbot). The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 19:1- 20:27

Amos 9: 7-15

I Cor. 6: 9-20

I Ptr. 1: 13- 16

The portion of Kedoshy’imקְדֹשִׁים , will be read for this week’s Sabbath in the order of the Hebrew/Judaic cycle readings. This study comes to us as Q’idusan – ቅዱሳን, from the Ethiopic-Christian perspective.

The Gleaners (by Gustave Doré from the 1865 La Sainte Bible)

The Gleaners (by Gustave Doré from the 1865 La Sainte Bible) ; Lev. 19:9

The Hebrew word of Kedoshy’im and the Ethiopian-Amharic word of Q’idusan, has its resonance and definition found in the English as, ” the holy ones .” This notion of conclusion comes from Leviticus 19:1-2, where God speaks to Moses, instructing him to tell the children of Israel to “sanctify themselves” or “make themselves holy,” for he is “Holy.”

Molock, Ammonite god

In this study of the Scriptures God lays out more of his commandments & statutes which the children of Israel are to follow & keep, whether just among themselves or among other people of other nations. [Lev. 20 {entire chapter}]

So, in ushering in Hebrew Observances, that should be relevant and incorporated into the Ras Tafari consciousness.

Since the inception of Ras Tafari it has been clear that the Ras Tafarians proclaim ancestral heritage with Hebraic peoples of antiquity.  Sharing ancestry with the Imperial House of David’s Solomonic Dynasty, in Ethiopia; by way of King Solomon & the Queen of Sheba.  With that said, seeing how Ethiopia has become the ONLY Christian church upholding its Hebraic traditions intact, it should hold a critical place in the Ras Tafari faithful and those of like minds to adhere to original Christian and Hebraic practices.

So, in this post we here at Ras Tafari Renaissance would like to put, all that continue to, and are maybe, just checking out the site for the first time on notice.  In the continuance of bringing you all, Ras Tafari interpretations of the Scriptures from a Bible-based foundation, we’ll also bring about the basics of over-standing Hebraic Observances/Holidays/Holy Days, and build on that foundation.

As the year comes to a close from ancient ways of time-keeping to the more modern ways, Ras Tafari Renaissance comes to the Hebraic New Year, with the anticipation of bringing the blog viewers into a deeper understanding of what is being produced here on this site.  Bringing more of the Hebrew and Amharic languages, into comprehension and use.

✡Hōshánna Raba (הושענא רבא) ✤ Hosaïna (ሆሣዕና)✡

This is Lidj Yefdi, wishing everyone a very blessed recogition of Hoshana!
This Hebraic celebration culminates the appointed time of the High Holy days congruent with Sukkot.
The final day of Sukkot brings us to Hoshanna Raba.  Hoshanna Raba, is the commemoration of the “Supplication,” or the “Divine Judgment.”

Orthodox Jews, and other Chassidic sects gather for a special service.  In this special service the participants make seven (7) circuits in ritual, around the synagogue with their made lula(b)v & etrons.  (*symbolic of Sukkot)

In variating sects, the Shofar(or the trumpet) is sounded after every circuit is made.  The Torah scrolls are taken out of the made Arks on this commemoration day as well.  Reasoning behind these ritualistic principles is recognizing the “Final Judgment” in the last days from the initiation of the seasonal appointed times. (Hebraic holidays)*

hebrew-calendar-months-and-feast-cycle

Judgment , in doctrine of the European Jewish theory, for the new year is sealed on Yom Kippur but, not delivered until Hoshanna.  These teachings come from the original interpretation of the celebration, and memorials of the Hebrew people, especially from the time of the 2nd Temple of Jerusalem.

In the Midrash, there is also another application containing the willow.  “The “Day of the Willow,” when on the seventh day, traditionally participants in Hoshanna Raba take a willow and have it present with the other “4 Species” or “4 Kinds”.  (of the symbols from Sukkot)*

Sukkot-4species

Now, from an Ethiopic perspective and a Christian one, Hosanna (Hoshanna) takes on a bit a different interpretation.  But, repentance is most certainly a theme echoed in it as well.  But, also with that repentance is the recognition of the significance of Christ. of course.  Christ rode into Jerusalem on the back of donkey(ass) with the Disciples and the palms, were carried by all of the people.  Very significant when you are able to compare this from Scripture to the practices and tradtions of the Jewish and Hebrew people celebration Hoshanna.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of W(V)ayeileḥ-וַיֵּלֶךְ , from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5776 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 5th-ה, & the 6th-ו, day of the Hebrew month of the month of Tisreïתִּשְׁרִי.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Musæy’m Hæydo-ሙሴም ሄዶ.  This would calculate as the 7th-፯, & the 8th-፰, of the month of Mäskäräm-መስከረምThe Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Isaiah 55:6 – 56:8

In this added installation of the Sabbath readings for this week; Moses prepared the children of Israel to go into the Land of Promise.  Moses, being an hundred and twenty years old, knew that the time had come when God said that he would not cross the Jordan(river).  Because, he did not sanctify God, at the waters of Meribah, he would go to sleep with his fathers, instead of enter into the Promised Land.  Moses is instructed to charge Joshua ben-Nun(the son of Nun) to lead the people in the ways God had commanded them.

53rd Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Ha’azinu-הַאֲזִינוּ .  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5774, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 2nd-ב , & the 3rd-ג , day of the Hebrew month of the month of Tishrei-תִּשְׁרִי , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is also known as AdmT’u-አድምጡ on the 1st-፩ & the 2nd-፪, of the month of 13 month-P’agume(ጳጉሜ).  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 32: 1-52

II Samuel 22: 1-51

Romans 10:14- 11:12

As the first Shabbot of the Hebrew New Year, the Torah portion of Ha’azinu is the parsha, which should be read.  This Sabbath day corresponds with another portion of readings; called into place as the readings of Shabbot Shub(v)a.  These Scripture readings are found in, Hosea 14: 2-10, Micah 7: 18-20 & Joel 2: 15-27.

This reading of the Scriptures translates from the Hebrew as, “Listen.”  This provides a vivid imagery as Moses gives his testimony of the children of Israel’s journey.  Moses also gives his account which he received from God, about the land of Promise, and how God intends to heal the land which he Promised, and to make it fertile.

[Deut. 32: 1-14]

Deuteronomy 32: 1

Deuteronomy 32: 1

Jeshurun, or “Israel the Upright,” grew greatly, but took the wonderful position it had with God for granted. These things like: going after foreign gods and unfaithfulness, God sought to provoke the children of Israel to be moved jealousy and anger, which those of no nation; a foolish people.  He would also consume them{Israel} with burning hunger, and beasts would devour them, not regarding the young or the old.

[Deut. 32: 15-27]

The foolish nation, that would be void of counsel, would also be distinguishable from the children of Israel, because their ways would resemble Sodom & Gomorrah.

Moses, then was told by God to go up Mount Nebo, on Abarim, where he would be gathered to his ancestors.  Moses knew the time had come for him to pass on.  He knew that he disobeyed God at Meribah, in Kadesh-Barnea; he also, in so many words,…”placed his eggs, all in one basket, vying for the lives of the wayward children of Israel.
