Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to yet another posting in one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

This is Lidj Yefdi, wishing everyone a very blessed recogition of Hoshana!
This Hebraic celebration culminates the appointed time of the High Holy days congruent with Sukkot.
The final day of Sukkot brings us to Hoshanna Raba.  Hoshanna Raba, is the commemoration of the “Supplication,” or the “Divine Judgment.”

Orthodox Jews, and other Chassidic sects gather for a special service.  In this special service the participants make seven (7) circuits in ritual, around the synagogue with their made lula(b)v & etrons.  (*symbolic of Sukkot)

In variating sects, the Shofar(or the trumpet) is sounded after every circuit is made.  The Torah scrolls are taken out of the made Arks on this commemoration day as well.  Reasoning behind these ritualistic principles is recognizing the “Final Judgment” in the last days from the initiation of the seasonal appointed times. Judgment , in doctrine of the European Jewish theory, for the new year is sealed on Yom Kippur but, not delivered until Hoshanna.  These teachings come from the original interpretation of the celebration, and memorials of the Hebrew people, especially from the time of the 2nd Temple of Jerusalem.

Now, from an Ethiopic perspective and a Christian one, Hosanna (Hoshanna) takes on a bit a different interpretation.  But, repentance is most certainly a theme echoed in it as well.  Not to mention the commemoration has a different orientation in the timing of the celebratory recognition.  But, also with that repentance is the recognition of the significance of Christ, of course.  Christ rode into Jerusalem on the back of donkey(ass) with the Disciples and the palms, were carried by all of the people.  Very significant when you are able to compare this from Scripture to the practices and tradtions of the Jewish and Hebrew people celebration Hoshanna.

50th (ክፍል/פרשה) Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ki-Tá(b)vō-כִּי-תָבוֹא, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 20th-כ, & the 21st-כא,  day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, BeGäbáh’m Gïzæy – በገባህም ጊዜ.  This would calculate as the 29th-፳፱, & the 30th-፴, of the month(ወርኀ) of Nähâsé-ነሐሴ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:1 – 29:8

Isaiah 60: 1-20

Ephesians 1: 3-6

Revelation 21: 10-27

This study portion of the Scriptures, deals with the children of Israel, in what order they should follow upon entering into the Land, which God had promised their foreparents.

THIS SABBATH STUDY PORTION, LAYS OUT EXACTLY HOW THE HEBREW PEOPLE WOULD BE BLESSED; ALBEIT, THEY KEPT & TOOK HEED OF THE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD; OR CURSED, IF THEY WERE TO TURN AWAY FROM WHAT THEY WERE MOSES HAD TAUGHT THEM; BY WAY OF GOD’S WORD.

Blessings-Curses

So, the children of Israel were to present the firstfruits(or the first portions of their harvests) of the land to the priests, and the priests were to present these firstfruits upon the altar; giving thanks & praise to God, because while in bondage/servitude the children of Israel, sewed seeds but did not reap the benefits of their labor. (for they’d worked to satisfy the needs wants of others)  In the Land of Promise, the children of Israel were at the liberty to sew their seeds with gladness and joy, keeping to the ways they were taught out of the Law of Moses.

[Deut. 26: 1-11]

ki tabo-parsha (first fruits)

Tithing: For the children of Israel, the third year, was when it would acceptable for them to give a tenth of all their harvests, appropriated to the: Levitical-Priesthood, the strangers/guests/foreigners (interpreted from the Ancient Languages of the Scriptures) which would be living among the children of Israel, along with the fatherless (or the orphaned), & the widowed.  This kind of tithing would be a testament to the children of Israel being the chosen, peculiar people (vrs.19) upon the face of the Earth, that within their gates which God had provided/promised to them, they would most certainly seek to feed, clothe & shelter.

[Deut. 26: 12-19]

ki tabo-parsha (tithes) Malachi

Moses, and the elders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, then charged the Hebrew people to keep all of the commandments, laws and statutes which were set out for them; and upon crossing over the river Jordan into the Land of Promise, on Mount Ebal-(ጌባል ተራራ/הר עיבל‎), the children of Israel were build an altar with whole stones to God-writing the Law(Torah) on these great stones.  This mountain was to be a mountain where peace offerings were to be made to God.

[Deut. 27: 1-8]

ki tab(v)o - parsha

Now, with this ordination, there then came the two mountains.  Moses & the Levites spoke to the Hebrew people, explaining that upon these works, the children of Israel should take heed to themselves, for they were to become the people of God; pending, they would harken to his laws.

ki tab(v)o - bible-archeology-altar-of-joshua-amphitheater-between-mt-gerizim-ebal

Moses then said, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim(ገሪዛን ተራራ/הר גּרזים) to bless the people: Simeon, Levi , Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin:

(verse 12) And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse the people: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulon, Dan, and Naphtali.

(verse 13)

From there, the Levites, then laid out the a proclamation of the curses, for those who would turn away from the law.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Tazrïaתַזְרִיעַ , (sometimes known as Ki-Tazria-כִּי תַזְרִיעַ)for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 5th-ה, & the 6th-ו, day of the month of Iy’yar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as B’tárägízብታረግዝ, on the  16th-፮, & the 17th-፯, on the ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Mïyazya). The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 12:1- 13:59

II Kings 4:42- 5:19

John 6:8-13

Matthew 8:1-4

Now, as we continue in out studies; this portions will be doubled in lieu of, the Shemittah (Jubilee) year calculation. [to conclude with an adequate number of portions studied for the year]  So, in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the God of Israel, speaks to Moses in the manner of explanation on childbirth. This portion of Scriptures has a defined word that comes to a literal english meaning of…”when she conceives.” God explains to Moses the order of actions that should take place upon the birth of children among them. (Hebrews/Israelites)  For the women of Ras Tafari, I personally, take the responsibility in informing the sistren (sisterhood) of Ras Tafari, along with those who will inquire of these studies to pay a specific attention to this parsha(portion) of Scripture. Tazria, gives a word-sound (interpretation) on the method of recovery for women, who have given birth to a child; whether it be male or female.

Though, it has been recognized and expounded upon, the Bible contains more than religious & spiritual anecdotes, but contains passages that are beneficial for life experiences.

I, personally have found that most of the critiques of the Bible and those who study, to seek & find answers to these questions rarely have a solid explanation or even sufficient disagreement as to why, when & where these happenings take place, but let me not deter OUR main goal here,…which the study for this Sabbath.

black madonna and child (real time rendition of Maryam and Christ)

The Scripture study for this Sabbath lays a foundation for the rest period of a mother who has recently given birth & how things should go about for the retrieval of her strength, physically and mentally; dealing with it from a Hebraic/Israelitish Torah perspective.

[ Lev.; Chpt. 12 (entire chapter) ]

tazria - parsha (she conceives-mother & child)

But, even in this case, the method presented can either be enlightening and show a parallel to “modern world” childbirth…or by the wording, which comes to us in a slew of mistranslation can deter one from looking to the Scriptures to seek some understanding of the universal issues of life. {with that said, RE-consider the (5) five-fold, depiction of the Early languages of the Bible shown above before discrediting the words used in this study of Leviticus, before condemning them as useless or demeaning to women= words like unclean seem to stir dismay. The word unclean- comes to a meaning of defiled or polluted, in a moral sense when decoded from Biblical Scripture, in this use of it in the context of a few verses in Leviticus.} For example, a woman’s health is given no thought, unless clear signs are identified when she is going about her daily routine, when she has not given birth to a child.

from chabad.org

from chabad.org

(so, the human exchange of a simple embrace-hug, handshake, monetary exchange etc., is of no significance to anyone, with a woman who has not given birth. But, on the flip-side of that, is a woman, blessed for giving birth to another human being in the manner of all female mammals upon the Earth. But, it should be a known fact that, rest and recovery are “I-tal“(vital) to a woman’s betterment; post-childbirth. Any woman in this world should agree to that premise, especially, seeing as they take full advantage of maternity leave for an occupation or what-have-you (& should), along with other benefits and accommodations that concentrate on women’s issues, & that alone. These issues & their benefits have no complaints from the opposite sex; at not in Hebraic or Hebrew-minded circles.[notwithstanding or neglecting other cultures who hold the maternity/health preservation of the respective communities in high regard.])

tazria - parsha (shabbat imabba)

So, in encouragement to the women who will see this post from Ras Tafari Renaissance, please remember that here we insist that the mind, and heart remain open to receive what can be useful in spiritual growth.

God also instructed Moses, to teach the children of Israel, the ritual and cultural practices, along with the sacrifices or offerings that were to be made for the ushering of a newborn into the community of Israel.

A wave offering was also presented before God, & the people were blessed out of the fire, because of the following of the laws and statutes while serving God in the wilderness.

[Lev. 9:21-24]

Aaron’s sons, Nadab & Abihu, were serving and performing the duties of the Priesthood, but offered a “strange fire” before God, which he had commanded them not to do. This action resulted in their judgment, which came by their deaths by being consumed by fire. Aaron, saw the consequences of the negative choices his own sons made by not staying in line with the Sinaitic Covenant & in line with the Order of the Levites; the statutes established between Israel & God upon Mount Sinai.

[Lev. 10:1-3]

37th Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

416951_10152196717220147_1724870670_n

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have more than likely have come to the Torah portion of ShelaKH’-LeKH’a-שְׁלַח-לְךָ , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 22nd & 23rd of the month of Siw(v)an-סִיוָן, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Lak’ Tilkalachihu-ላክ ትልካላችሁ, 16th(፲፮) & 17th(፲፯) day of ወርኀ(month)- ግንቦት (Ginbot).

Readings:

Numbers 13:1- 15:41

Joshua 2:1-24

Hebrews 3:7- 4:1

In continuation from the last study-portion, we have come now to the 13th chapter of Numbers.  In this study, Moses is now instructed by God to send the chosen Princes of Israel to search/spy/scout the land(Canaan), which God had promised to the children of Israel.

[Numb. 13: 1-16]

The spies or scouts were to instructed to go the south mountain*[note: to be discussed(TBD)], to see the land(how it looked/upon view), see what people dwelt there, & if the people there were strong or weak, if there were few or many. They were also instructed to see if the land be a good land, what cities in the land were inhabited, and if those cities (inhabited) were “strongly held.”  They were to be “of good courage” and bring fruits of the land to prove that it had been seen, for it was the due season of the “first-fruits.”

[Numb. 13: 17-20]

*TBD= Ras Tafari Renaissance, comes to a note that could be interpreted, for futher study.  Numbers chapter 13, verse 17; gives instruction by Moses(whom received it from God) to the men, who were scout the land of Canaan, to “Get you up this way, southward and go up to the mountain.” Ras Tafari Renaissance “dibbled & dabbled,” interacting more with the Hebrew Bible(תּוֹרָה), studying the Scriptures from one of its Hebrew origin{language} & come to the word Negeb(v)-נֶּגֶב , when the Scripture speaks of the mountain southward, which the men sent by Moses were to see the land.  The Negeb(v) desert of southern modern Israel is indeed mountainous.*

the Wilderness

The scouts took up the fruits of the land, as instructed, at the Brook of Eshol.  They took the cluster of grapes, pomegranates, and figs; then they returned to the wilderness where Israel was encamped & gave their reports of the land (which they stayed 40 days) from their searching.

[Numb. 13: 23-30]

first fruits of the land

Caleb brought a good report to Moses, Aaron, and those of the congregation that heard him.  Even, so much so that Caleb said, “…Let us go up at once, and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it…”[Numb. 13: 30]  But, the men that went with him brought a evil/bad report (evil-because it was wrapped in lies tied to some of the truth); “…the land eat(eth) up the inhabitants…, [all the people were of great stature]…”

[Numb. 13: 30-33]

At the sounds of the ten evil/bad reports of the scouts, who came to give their assessment on the land which was promised to the Hebrews; the children of Israel wept and began to murmur against Moses and Aaron, for they saw the ten evil/bad reports as truth, also that God had brought them out of Egypt and into the wilderness to die.  The children of Israel had planted seeds in their own minds from the bad reports that their wives and their children, would become prey, as they fell by the sword.  They even saw it may have been better to return to Egypt.  So much so, that they spoke to each other to make a captain that would campaign to take them back to Egypt.

[Numb. 14: 1-4]

Moses and Aaron, then fell on their face before the congregation of Hebrews, for they could not comprehend why the children of Israel, would go as far to think, the things they were thinking.  Then Joshua and Caleb, told the truth about the report on the scouting of the land, the people (the Amorites, Jebusites, & Hittites resided in the mountains: the Amalekites to the south: & also the Canaanites resided near the sea and the coast of the Jordan [river].

Then, God became angered with Israel because of their weak faith and murmuring; for their provoking, he sought to destroy them

[Numb. 14: 11-12]

Moses then, interceded for the children of Israel and because of his pleading words to God, their lives were spared.  But, God would not allow them to enter into the Land of Promise.  Forty years, in the wilderness, would their children wander bearing the whoredoms of their parents.

Wandering Israel

The laws and statues, rules and regulations for the offerings/sacrifices that were to be administered upon entry into the land that was promised, were reiterated to the children of Israel.

[Numb. 15: 1-36]

God then spoke to Moses, telling him to instruct the children of Israel to make fringes upon the borders of their garments; the fringes were also to have a ribband of blue.  These fringes, with the ribband of blue were for the children of Israel to keep throughout their generations.  The fringes were to be a reminder of the commandments of God, and that they should observe them and do(keep) them.  The Israelites were to look[observe] upon the fringes, and keep[do] the commandments of God; to not seek after their own hearts and eyes, which would take them ‘a whoring’ away.
