So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Shoftim-שֹׁפְטִים, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 3rd-ג , & the 4th-ד , day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elul-אֱלוּל(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Ferajoch-ፈራጆች. This would calculate as the 23rd-፳፫, & the 24th-፳፬, of the month of Nehâsé-ነሐሴ .  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 16:18- 21:9

Isaiah 51:12- 52:12

John 1: 19-27

Acts 3: 22-23

This Sabbath study portion; Shoftim-שֹׁפְטִים , (in the Hebrew language, has equivalences to: magistrates[officers] or judges);

(in the Amharic language, the equivalent is plurally: Ferajoch-ፈራጆች; which more than likely could derived from words like: Feraj-ፈራጅ[could be considered as an police officer, or jailer; of the sort, from a modern sense]; also Tefárajተፋራጅ; which could be considered as a judge or magistrate from the modern sense, as well: from the Amharic is equivalent to “one who brings justice.”)

So, this Torah portion is at the point where Moses now instructs the children of Israel to set up judges and officers, throughout all of the tribes, whom should utilize just judgments in certain affairs.

In all of the gates that in possession of the children of Israel, no blemished, or defiled thing should be offered as sacrifice/offering to God.  Neither, were the children of Israel to go after(worship) any other gods.  They also were instructed to put evil away from among them.

A king/ruler was also to be appointed over the children of Israel.  One, whom would not give himself utterly to seek after wealth & riches, or many women to wife(marry), so that his heart be turned away from God; his laws, ordinances, statutes and commandments.  While upon the throne, the king was to write a copy the LAW, set before the priests; wherein he was to read & learn, all the days of his life so that the days of his life be prolonged.  The king was to keep the all the commandments, like anyone else, & not think of himself, as being above any of his brethren, aside from his appointment by God.

[Deut. 17: 14-20]

[Deut. 17: 14-20] : ” …For thus says the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel…”_[Jer.33: 17]; "...Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me..."[I Kgs 8:25] "...Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel...."[I Kings 9:5]: RRR

[Deut. 17: 14-20] : ” …For thus says the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel…”_[Jer.33: 17]; “…Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me…”[I Kgs 8:25] “…Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel….”[I Kings 9:5]: RRR

Within the land, the tribe of Levi(Lewi), were to have no inheritance with the children of Israel.  For God, was their portion of the inheritance,  Offerings to God, would partaken on behalf of God, by the priests of the Levites; from among the sacrifices/offerings, would be the “priest’s due.”

[Deut. 18: 1-8]

shoftim - parsha [levites blow the trumpets]

Idolatry & the abominations, were not to be found among the children of Israel, for they were to inherit all nations.

[Deut. 18: 9-14]

God also said to Israel, that he would raise up a Prophet from among them.  The words of his mouth would be of him, and they should take heed.  For, at the mountain of Horeb, they feared the power, the voice and great fire of God, so much that they asked to not see it again, lest they perish.

(see; Deut. 1: 6, Deut. 4: 10, & Deut. 5: 1-21_ God spoke to Israel at Horeb)

(God is a consuming fire: Deut. 4 :24, Heb. 12: 29)

Mount Horeb -

Mount Horeb – הַר חֹרֵב- ተራራ ኮሬብ aka “the Mountain of God/YHWH”

The only for the children of Israel to know if the Prophet was of God, would be for them to verify by a testing of his word.  The testing would come in a criteria that would fit, as follows: 1. his/her, spoken words of prophecy coming to pass(or fulfillment; actualization), 2. he/she, would come in the NAME of God, & 3. if the prophecies followed along the guidelines of the LAW(Torah).

(could also be seen as the coming of the MesHIHa/Messiah)

[Deut. 18: 15-22]

The cities of refuge from within the gates of Israel’s inheritance were to also be set up.  Especially, in the plight of the case of the slayer.  When God was to cut out the wicked nations these cities were to set, to ensure that just judgment were rendered.

[Deut. 19: 1-21]

shoftim - parsha (cities of refuge)

The Law regarding Warfare, was for the children of Israel to fear not, even if their enemies were greater in number or strength; for God would be with them.  The priests were to encourage them, & men who set up houses, or married rather recently not having consecrated their homes or wives, should return or in the extreme, not go off to warfare, for their seeds were to be procured.(as spoken by the officers of Israel)  Israel was to show peace to those who would show themselves peaceful, & go to war against those who would make war with them.  But, they were to utterly destroy the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites and the Jebusites, as God commanded them.

[Deut. 20]

Deut. 20: 2

Deut. 20: 2

An Inquest or judiciary inquiry, in the case of death, of unknown/unaccounted corpse, for one slain in the field; would become the responsibility of the Priesthood to minister for the children of Israel, for they were chosen by God to work in service of Israel.

We’ve now come, to the beginning of the final book of the Torah.  So, we begin this last book of the Old Testament Scriptures (or otherwise could be known as the “Pentateuch“) with the words of Moses, as he speak to the children of Israel.

[Duet. 1: 1-3]

debarim - parsha2

In this portion of the scriptures Moses, begins telling the children of Israel, their story which they have lived out since the “Exodus,“(or exit/coming out of Egypt & the wandering in the wilderness), and some time before.  On the eastern side of the Jordan river, in the plains, Moses spoke on a number of subjects; Including: the kings of the lands(other nations that lived along the way to Canaan/Palestine, as well as those who lived within), which sought the destruction of the children of Israel, & how God spoke to him(Moses), instructing him to lead Israel, onward.

[Deut. 1: 4-8]

moses3

Moses, also spoke to the children of Israel on how God, blessed & multiplied their numbers, while travailing through the toils of the journey in the wilderness.  He also mentioned how the appointing of the judges(captains/princes/chiefs [Exo. 25: 25-26]) of Israel was a significant moment for the children of Israel, seeing as how Moses’, father-in-law, Jethro saw that Moses discerned matters of concern among all of Israel, alone.  From that moment on, Jethro advised Moses by the grace of God, to appoint heads of each tribe, to handle certain matters within certain subjects & to bring the matters of great concern to Moses; for he would be consulted of God on the greater issues of concern for Israel.

[Deut. 1: 9-18]

Moses & Jethro

Moses & Jethro

The murmuring disobedience of the children of Israel, which led to the seemingly endless wandering in the wilderness, was also a topic of discussion from Moses, to the Israelites/Hebrews.  Even with the power of God working in & through, the children of Israel, there were always those that failed to yield to the Word(John 1:1), but God kept Israel, through; upholding the covenants* to the Israel’s forefathers.  Though, from generation-to-generation some had wavered; the promise was Israel’s to keep. (ie. the generations of Caleb ben Jephunneh & Joshua ben Nun)*

[Deut. 1: 19-46]

While in the wilderness, the children of Israel, encounter many peoples not of their patterns of living ( more or less; not of their culture, or beliefs/faith.  So, in attempting to peacefully go about their way, the children of Israel, experience strife from others, who seek to send them into disarray.  (for example: the Moabites, Amorites, Midianites, etc…)

[Deut. 2: 1-9 (Moabites)]; [Deut. 2: 10-15 (children of Anak)];

[Deut. 2: 16-23 (Ammonites)]; [Deut. 2: 24-37 (Amorites)]

Even, to the king of Bashan, with the battle of Edrei* (Numb 21: 33), did the children of Israel triumph in the wilderness over their adversaries.  Upon victory, the children of Israel, gained the lands, cattle, and many other possessions of their enemies and divided all among themselves; so that none of them would want for anything. However, the children of tribes of Reuben, & Gad appealed to Moses and the Princes of Israel for land adequate for the large amounts of cattle they now possessed.  The children of the half-tribe of Manasseh, also laid hold to their inheritance, by way of the Daughters of Zelophehad (Numb 26: 33), who plead for their father’s portion among his brethren.

(for he had no son, to possess his holdings; so be it the Law was made fit for the Daughters, whom were not married, but were bound by lineage to Israel.)

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Korach/KoraKH‘/Koraḥ-קֹרַח, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 22nd-כב, & the 23rd-כג, of the month of Siw(v)an-סִיוָן.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Q'()oräyቆሬ.  This would calculate as the 13th-፲፫, & the  14th-፲፬, of the month(ወርኀ) of Seney’-ሰኔ.  The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Numbers 16:1 – 18:32

I Samuel 11:14 – 18:32

Romans 13: 1-7

Now, in continuance of our studies of Torah, we come to the parsha(portion) of Korah’.  Now, in this study of the Scriptures, a Levite, named Korah’ (ben Izhar- son of Izhar), joins himself wth Dathan & Abiram, who are Reubinites(of the Tribe of Reuben), and two-hundred & fifty princes of Israel.  This group began a rebellion, that challenged the authority of Moses and Aaron, among the children of Israel.

[Numb. 16:1-19]

korach - parsha [Lewiim - descent]

God instructed Moses and Aaron, to get away from Korah and his rebellious few, and tell the children of Israel to separate themselves as well; for he would consume them

God then, spoke to Moses to tell Eleazar(Aaron’s son; a Priest of Levi), to take the censors of Korah, which they took in the Tabernacle for the fire and the incense, and make them broad plates for a covering of the altar.  “They shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”

[Numb. 16:36-40]

korach - parsha [eleazar priest]

The next day the children of Israel, murmured against Moses & Aaron, saying, “…they killed people of God…,” and then a plague fell upon them(Israel) and more died, even after those of Korah’s Rebellion suffered judgment.

[Numb. 16:41-50]

God then, instructed Moses to gather the staffs of the Princes Of Israel; one for each of the tribes (12) and adding one more the tribe of Levi, in which, Aaron would be the head.  (making that thirteen [13] staff-rods).  God would then choose the staff to show where he would place his authority among the children of Israel, to put an end to their murmuring.  Moses, took the staffs and placed them in the Tabernacle of Witness.

[Numb. 17: 1-7]

korach - parsha [staffs of the Princes of Israel]

The very next morning, Moses entered into the Tabernacle, only to find that Aaron’s rod, had blossomed and brought forth buds, and also yielded almonds.  Moses brought forth the staff of Aaron, by God’s command to be a witness/memorial to Israel of God’s will way.  Whomsoever go against God’s way would not share in his rest.

[Numb. 17:8-13]

God then spoke to Aaron, saying, that he and his sons (lineage), were to perform the duties of service in the Tabernacle, so no wrath would anymore fall upon Israel.  The Levites were to administer the reception of of offerings made by the children of Israel to God in the Tabernacle; but they wouldn’t have an inheritance as the rest of the children of Israel(Tribes) had.  The reason being was & is, because the “tithes” of Israel would be given to them by God.

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Ki-Tab(v)o-כִּי-תָבוֹא .  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5773, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 17thיז , & the 18thיח , day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל , for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is also known as Begebah’m Ğeezěy-በገባህም ጊዜ, also on the 17th-፲፯, & on the 18th-፲፰, of the month of (ነሐሴ)Nehäsey.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:1- 29:9

Isaiah 60: 1-22

Ephesians 1: 3-6

Revelations 21: 10-27

This study portion of the Scriptures, deals with the children of Israel, in what order they should follow upon entering into the Land, which God had promised their foreparents.  THIS SABBATH STUDY PORTION, LAYS OUT EXACTLY HOW THE HEBREW PEOPLE WOULD BE BLESSED; ALBEIT, THEY KEPT & TOOK HEED OF THE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, OR CURSED, IF THEY WERE TO TURN AWAY FROM WHAT THEY WERE TAUGHT BY MOSES.

So, the children of Israel were to present the firstfruits of the land to the priests, and the priests were to present these firstfruits upon the altar; giving thanks & praise to God, because while in bondage/servitude the children of Israel, sewed seeds but did not reap the benefits of their labor.  In the Land of Promise, the children of Israel were at the liberty to sew their seeds with gladness and joy, keeping to the ways they were taught.

[Deut. 26: 1-11]

first fruits

Now, when it came to tithes, the children of Israel in the third year, were to give a tenth appropriated to the Levitical-Priesthood, the strangers/guests/foreigners(interpreted from the Ancient Languages of the Scriptures) which would be living among them, the fatherless(or the orphaned), & the widowed.  This kind of tithing would be a testament to the children of Israel being the chosen, peculiar people(vrs.19) upon the face of the Earth, that within their gates which God had provided/promised to them, they would most certainly seek to feed, clothe & shelter.

[Deut. 26: 12-19]

ki tabo-parsha (tithes) Malachi

Moses, and the elders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel , then charged the Hebrew people to keep all of the commandments, laws and statutes; and upon crossing over the river Jordan into the Land of Promise, on Mount Ebal, the children of Israel were build an altar with whole stones to God-writing the Law(Torah) on these great stones.  This mountain was to be a mountain where peace offerings were to be made to God.

[Deut. 27: 1-8]

Now, with this ordination, there then came the two mountains.  Moses & the Levites spoke to the Hebrew people, explaining that upon this works, the children of Israel should take heed to themselves, for they were to become the people of God, if they would harken to his laws.

Moses then said, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people, Simeon, Levi , Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin: (verse 12) And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse the people, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. (verse 13)

From there, the Levites, then laid out the a proclamation of the curses, for those who would turn away from the law.

[Deut. 27: 9-26]

On L, Mt.Gerizim (Blessing) and on R, Mt.Ebal (Curse) – Nablus Panorama in Israel.

Then, the Blessings for obedience to the laws, statutes, and commandments were spoken to the children of Israel.

[Deut. 28: 1-14]

But also, the Cursing for the disobedience of the laws of God, would befall the Hebrew people & would become identifying factors of the Hebrews’ stiffnecked ways toward God’s laws.

[Deut. 28: 15-68]

"...And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations wither the LORD shall lead thee..." [Deut. 28: 37]

“…And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations wither the LORD shall lead thee…” [Deut. 28: 37]

Moses, then charged the people once more, to keep the commandments; to observe & do them diligently.  For it was known to all of them the wonders which God had done for them; from the coming out of Egypt (Exodus) – to the going into the Promised Land.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have more than likely come to the Torah portion of KH’ukat-.חֻקַּת. From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 6th & 7th, of the month of Tammuzתמוז, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as YeH’gu T’izaz Y’h’ New-የሕጉ ትእዛዝ ይህ ነው, for the 7th() & 8th() days of the ወራት(months)- ግንቦት (Ginbot) & ሰኔ (Seney).

Readings:

Numbers 19:1- 22:1

Judges 11: 1-33

Hebrews 9: 11-28

John 3: 10-21

On this Sabbath, we study where Moses and his brother Aaron, receive the ordinance of the law, in which God commanded them to take a “red heifer,” in the order for sacrifice/offering.  Instead of this offering being of the male of the first year, this one was to be of the female; also, she was not to be offered in the Tabernacle/Mishkan but, to offered outside of the camp, for her blood was to be sprinkled seven(7) times before the Tabernacle of the congregation, with the finger of Eleazar (Levite priest-son of Aaron).

[Numb. 19: 1-10]

The law for the death of a man in a tent, was also given to the children of Israel, in this portion of the Scriptures.  Seven(7) days shall the tent, any open vessel, which hath no covering, whosoever touched the one slain/deceased, in the open field, or the grave would be unclean.

[Numb. 19: 11-21]

Upon the trek of the children of Israel, when they had come to Kadesh-Barnea, Miriam the Prophetess, (Moses’ sister) was gathered to her people(passed to the spirit world)

As the journey in the wilderness continued, the children of Israel grew restless once again.  The congregation gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron.  They spoke ill off them, bringing them further into the wilderness to die of thirst, for there was no water.  Moses and Aaron went before the Tabernacle and fell on their faces(bowing in a plea to God).  God appeared to them, and spoke to Moses, instructing him to take his rod and gather the assembly of the children of Israel with Aaron.  Then he was to speak to the Rock, in front of the Hebrews and there water would come from the Rock; enough for the entire community of Israel.  Moses, along with Aaron gathered the people and brought them before the Rock, but in frustration with the constant murmuring and doubt of the children of Israel, instead of speaking to the Rock, Moses struck it with his rod, twice and water came from quenching the thirst of all the people and their cattle.

Because of Moses’ disobedience, and because he waxed hot (became angered with the children of Israel; allowing his frustration to interfere with the instruction given to him by God);  God told him that he would not bring the people into the land, which was promised to their forefathers.  & the waters, which came from the Rock in that place, because the children of Israel strove with God; would be called Meribah– (which was to mean= quarrel, to strive, or provocation)

[Numb. 20: 13]

Moses then sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, requesting safe passage through the land of Edom, assuring that nothing would stolen and the Hebrews come not to quarrel with any of the inhabitants of the land.  But, Edom would not allow Israel to pass through the land.  Edom warned Israel that if Israel was to pass through Edom would come out with the sword.  Moses speaking for Israel, assured again the nothing would taken and if so, it would be recompensed but, Edom refused once again; and came out to divert Israel from their path.  Israel, then turned away from Edom and journeyed from Kadesh to Mount Hor.

[Numb. 20: 14-22]

{keep in mind: while going through this portion of the Scriptures lesson “Edom” equated/represents the Edomites/children of Esau, who became known as Edom; & when the Scriptures speak of “Israel,” even from a singular tone, it is speaking of the children of Israel/the Israelites.  Jacob, twin brother of Esau, would become known as “Israel” & father what would be known as the Twelve Tribes Of Israel.}

God, then spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor.  God said to them that Aaron (Moses’ brother), would be gathered to his people, and not enter into the land promised, to the children of Israel’s forefathers, for the rebellious actions at the waters of Meribah.  So upon Mount Hor, Aaron’s place as the Kahin HaGadol(High Priest) would pass along to his eldest son, Eleazar.  Moses was to take the garments and vestments of the High Priest and placed on and in the possession of his nephew, Eleazar.  Aaron then passes, leaving the Priesthood in the hands of son Eleazar, at Mount Hor.

A Canaanite king, whose name was Arad, heard word of the children of Israel making trek to Canaan and he went out to fight against them and took some of them prisoners.  Israel, made vow with God, that if those of the Canaanite king Arad, who took some of the Hebrews as prisoners, were delivered into their hands, they would utterly destroy their cities.  God heard them, and gave way to for them to keep their word, and it was made so, to the extent that the place where the king Arad, the Canaanite dominion was, would be called Hormah, for it was close to Mount Hor, where the passing of Aaron, was.

[Numb. 21: 1-3]

After the victory over Arad, the Canaanite king, the children of Israel journeyed from Mount Hor, by the way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom, and then the soul of the people grew weary, becoming discouraged.  Again, they spoke against Moses, moaning and groaning for food and water.  God sent fiery serpents, among the people and were bitten by them.  Many of the children of Israel died because of this, and turned to Moses, asking him to forgive them their doubt, and intercede with God for them.  Moses prayed for them and God instructed Moses, to make a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole so that every one that looked upon it would live.  Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it on a pole and what God said, had come to pass.  Those that looked upon the Brazen Serpent lived,  in spite of being bitten by the other serpents.

[Numb. 21: 4-9]

The children of Israel set forward and then, making their journey East around Edom; (From Kadesh-through-Moab) until they came to Beer(pronounced Ba-e’yr) where they then were given water to drink from God.

[Numb. 21: 10-20]

wilderness (zared river)

Israel, sent messengers to Sihon the king of the Amorites, requesting permission safe passage through the land of the Amorites, in the same manner that Israel requested of Arad, whom was a Canaanite king.  Israel would not take anything that was not their own and would not quarrel with any of the inhabitants of the land of the Amorites.  Sihon, wouldn’t let Israel pass through either, and gathered all his people together, to go out against Israel.  At Jahaz, the Amorites fought against Israel; Israel smote the Amorites with sword and then, possessed the lands from Arnon-to-Jabbok, even to the borders of the children of Ammon.

While Israel, dwelt in the land conquered of the Amorites, they also drove out the Amorites in Jaazer.  The children of Israel then, went north, and Og, the king of Bashan, cam out against them but, God told Moses “…to fear him not…,” for he to would be delivered into his hand.  There Israel, smote them and possessed the land there, as well.  Wherein, at that point, the children of Israel pitched camp in the plains of Moab, on the side of Jordan(river), near Jericho.

35th Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

416951_10152196717220147_1724870670_n

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Nas(h)o-נָשֹׂא , as this being the Sabbath of Shav(b)uot.  for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 8th & 9th of the month of Siw(v)an-סִיוָן . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as W’sed-ውሰድ, on the 9th() & 10th() day of ወርኀ(month)- ግንቦት (Ginbot).

Readings:

Numbers 4:21- 7:89

Judges 13:2-25

Acts 21:17-26

In this Sabbath, we continue with what was put forth in the preivious study of the 34th; Bamidbar-Midre Beda.  Moses & his brother Aaron, were instructed God, to number the children of Israel.(in a sense, completing a type of census)  They ordered and numbered the people, giving reverence to their family lineages.(by tribal origin[within Hebrew community])

the Israelites encampment in the wilderness of Sinai_(document provided by jesuswalk.com site)

the Israelites encampment in the wilderness of Sinai_(document provided by jesuswalk.com site)

This ordering was continued in this week’s study of the Scriptures.  The numbering of the priesthood, those able men who should serve in the office of the Tabernacle, from age thirty-to-fifty.  After the counting was complete, the duties of the priesthood were listed to the specific sections of the families of Levites(priesthood).

the Levitical Priesthood

The priestly duties were assigned to families of the Levites where; the Gershonites, were to keep the charge of the curtains and coverings of the Tabernacle, the hangings for the doors of the court, and for the gate of the court round about the altar, the cords and all the instruments of the service.

[Numb. 4: 24-28]

The Merari, were to keep the charge of the boards, all of the bars, all of the pillars of the court round about , the sockets, and the pins, and their cords, along with all the instruments of their service in the priesthood in the Tabernacle.

[Numb. 4: 29-33]

Now, the Kohathites, were to be numbered within the families of Levites(priesthood) but their responsibilities in service were laid out by God, from the previous portion of the Scripture study. [Numb. 4: 1-20]

When Aaron and his sons, had made coverings for all of the sanctuary, and all the vessels, as the camp set forward {[to move]}; after that the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die.

[Numb. 4: 15-20;  Chpt. 4: 34-37]

Then, God instructed Moses and Aaron, along with the assistance of the priesthood to purify the camp of the children of Israel.  Helping the children of Israel to heal through keeping the statutes and commandments of God, and purging themselves, being a sanctified people to their God. The Hebrews also, learned the ways in which, they were to interact with each other; making amends if one was to offend another. [Numb. 5: 1-10]

If a husband were to accuse his wife, in a fit of jealousy of being unfaithful, the Sotah-סוטהwas a means to bring clarity to the situation.

[Numb. 5: 1-31]

Also, the vow of the Nazirite, was a focus point of this study portion, as God spoke to Moses in instructing the children of Israel.  God said to Moses, if any of the children of Israel wish to separate themselves to God by a vow, then there were rules to follow in accordance to such.

[Numb. 6: 1-21]

The priestly blessing that was also told to Moses by God.  Moses, was to teach Aaron and his sons, the blessing so that they should perform service of blessing the children of Israel, to put God’s name upon them, so they could receive it.

[Numb. 6: 24-26]

The Priestly Blessing

All thing going into their rightful places, ordered by God’s word; from there, the Tabernacle was consecrated as Moses completed setting up the Tabernacle, anointing it and all of the instruments for the services.  the Princes of Israel, or the twelve(12) heads of their fathers households, brought each of their own offerings from the tribes they came out of. 26th Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellasie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

416951_10152196717220147_1724870670_n

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Shemini-שְּׁמִינִי , for this week. This week, in this mode of study for those out in the diaspora, along with those  living in Jerusalem or Israel have come to read in the order of the Hebraic studies the exact same parsha(portion). From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 25th & 26th of the month of Nisan- נִיסָן‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Besimintegñawim Qen- በስምንተኛውም ቀን , the 27th & 28th day on ወርኀ(month)- መጋቢት(Megabeet). The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) alings to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 9:1- 11:47

II Samuel 6:1- 7:17

Hebrews 7:1-19

Hebrews 8:1-6

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, after the inauguration/anoiting of the Kohani’im (Priesthood), Moses now instructs Aaron to prepare a sin offering of a young bullock , as well as, a burnt offering of a ram and the children of Israel, were instructed to bring a sin offering of one kid from the goats, and a their burnt offering was to be one calf and one lamb, both of the first year, without blemishes.  Another bullock and ram were brought for a peace offering, along with a meat offering mingled with oil before God. [Lev. 9:1-20]

A wave offering was also presented before God, & the people were blessed out of the fire, because of the following of the laws and statutes while serving God in the wilderness. [Lev. 9:21-24]

fire_brimstone

Aaron’s sons, Nadab & Abihu, were serving and performing the duties of the Priesthood, but offered a “strange fire” before God, which he had commanded them not to do. This action resulted in their judgment, which came by their deaths by being consumed by fire. Aaron, saw the consequences of the negative choices his own sons made by not staying in line with the Sinaitic Covenant& in line with the Order of the Levites; the statutes established between Israel & God upon Mount Sinai. [Lev. 10:1-3]

But, Aaron other sons: Eleazar & Ithamar were grafted into the posts of the Priesthood and taught to conduct themselves in the manners of the ways of God’s covenant.  [Lev. 10:6-15]

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, God also constitutes the laws regarding what has become known as “Kosher” (Kosher accounts to Kashrutכַּשְׁרוּת )pertaining to what can be consumed as food or dietary (from a Ras Tafarian’s ideology dietary=”Livity”) for the children of Israel.
