Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to yet another posting here at Ras Tafari Renaissance!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes in this 400th year of the dispensation (Biblical prophecy of the children of Israel, being afflicted or entreated evil, for four hundred years: Gen. 15:13, & Acts 7:6 )to give perspective to the Ethiopian commemoration of what is known in Ras Tafarian circles as the “EarthStrong” or Birth date of Ras Tafari, H.I.M.self.  Prophecies were fulfilled, stars were aligned (especially pertaining to the Inundation of the Nile River & the so-called “Dog-Star” constellation), what more can we here at Ras Tafari Renaissance say about the birth date, of His Imperial Majesty Haile Sellassie (born July 23, 1892;  Täfäri Makʷennin woldä-Mikáèl [ተፈሪ መኳንን ወልደ ሚካኤል]), in Ejersa Goro; Harar Province, Ethiopia; Africa.

The coming forth of Haile Sellassie to the earthly plane was an emphatic occurrence that its still celebrated to this day in age, especially by Ras Tafarians worldwide.  Mainly because of its prophetic institution, and Biblical reverence within historical events.  These succeeding events that took place, worldwide but especially in Ethiopia, brought about the recognition of the importance of the Scriptures, in real time.

Battle of Adwa (አድዋ) – 1st of March 1896

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the Ethiopian commemoration of the Battle of Adwa.  A history changing event that shocked the world to its core.  At the time of the Battle of Adwa, the African continent was nearly colonized at every angle. due to to the “Scramble for Africa“.  The only two countries that hadn’t been colonized by European countries were Ethiopia & Liberia.  But even with all of this in the forefront, Ethiopia had defended itself well against Italian forces; saving the whole of Africa from total colonization.

The valiance of the Ethiopian people, in defense of their country, became a phenomenal example of unity, belief, heritage, & pride.  The Ethiopian people; men, women, & children, in some cases, banded together the banner of the Ethiopian flag: red, gold, & green to put aside their differences in ethnic origin, tribe, religion etc., to secure a future that would include all of them, on their own land.

The Treaty of Addis Ababa, formally brought an end to the First Italo-Ethiopian War, (in which the Battle of Adwa, was the pinnacle) whereas Italy officially recognized Ethiopia as a independant and sovereign state.  This treaty has been said to be a secret agreement, for more than scholars’ obvious reasons as Italy would eventually attempt to colonize Ethiopia again, in the coming Second Italo-Ethiopian War.

♔ Coronation Day – Nov. 2, 1930 – “Day of the LORD” ♔

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Ras Tafari Renaissance commemorates the Coronation & Wedding of His Imperial Majesty & Her Imperial Highness of Ethiopia.  Ras Tafari, holds this day in history as fulfillment of Scripture, & the beginning of the redemption of the children of Israel.  On November 2nd, 1930, the coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie I and Empress Menen ushered in a new wave of pride in the black world.

Even before and during the inception of the League of Nations (now known widely as the United Nations); Not even the election of Barack Obama can be compared in scope with the coronation: Ethiopia had at the time never been occupied by a foreign power and remained the only uncolonized territory on the African continent. The nobility of the Ethiopian court and the respect it commanded through the League of Nations–and the success with which its head negotiated the hostile waters of the international political scene post-WWI, –– was lost on few.

Critically acclaimed National Geographic published an issue with the coronation as the cover story and lavished accolades onto the monarch in a way that was unprecedented in talking about Africans. Indeed, many attempts were made by media to discredit Selassie’s “blackness” – after all he was a descendant of King Solomon!

Custodianship of the popular opinion of Haile Selassie has gradually moved towards the Ras Tafari movement, as the movement itself has gained more freedoms, not in the least through the spread of Reggae music. This tradition has proved very efficient in disseminating basic knowledge to the more crucial information given of & about Selassie into popular conscience, especially in the Caribbean.  Just as old Ethiopians could swear on Selassie as being referred to as Janhoy – (meaning the Elephant, as in the Emperor who is greater than the King of the jungle, the Lion), throughout the English-speaking parts of the region it is common to substitute “God knows” with “Selassie I know.” Iconic images of His Imperial Majesty can be found virtually anywhere.

Adjectives abound when discussing the long-reigning monarch; his political legacy is complex. But even his detractors tend to credit him with, for better or worse, ushering Ethiopia into the 20th century.

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you yet another post here on Ras Tafari Renaissance as of course today stands as monumental in the community of Ras Tafari, historical in the land of Ethiopia, and the continent of Africa; celestial in the sense of astrology; and so many other things we could bring up for the significance of this posting.

Ras Makonnen, a member of the Solomonic Dynasty, son of Fitwari Wolde-Mikael Gudisa of Shewa (or Shoa& the grandson of Negus Sahle Selassie of Shewa (or Shoa).  Makonnen married and bear his children with Yashimabet Ali.

The Solomonic dynasty, also known as the “House of Solomon,” is the former ruling Imperial House of the Ethiopian Empire. Its members claim patrilineal descent from King Solomon of Israel (King of David) and the Queen of Sheba from antiquity (otherwise known of by names like “Bilquis,” “the queen of the south,”) but truly known as Eitye Azeb.  Tradition asserts that the Queen gave birth to Menelik I, after her biblically described visit to Solomon in Jerusalem.
