RSS# 12 (በኖረበት / וַיְחִי)

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to seek insight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Shabbat) we move into the opening of the Torah portion with W(V)aYecḥї – וַיְחִי, on the 11th – יא, & on the 12th – יב, of the month of Teb(v)et – טֵבֵת, in the year of 5778. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the MoonFrom an Ethiopic Judeo-Christian perspective and calculation, where the current year is 2010/7510;  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 20th – ፳, & the 21st – ፳፩, of the month of Tah’sas – ታኅሣሥ.  In the Scriptures, this portion of study would also be known as BeNoräbät – በኖረበት; in other cases sometimes adding in, as well; TäQ’ämättä – ተቀመጠ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Genesis 47: 28 – 50:26

I Kings 2: 1–12

I Peter 1: 3-9

Hebrews 11: 21-22

This portion of our studies in the Scriptures, will conclude the first of Book of Genesis.  While continuing study in the last Torah portion of Genesis the study deals with Jacob‘s(Israel) tenure in Egypt.  Jacob(Israel), felt that the time drew near to his death, so he spoke to his son, Joseph; telling him of an obligation he would like his son to fulfill.

Jacob(Israel) desired to be laid to rest among his ancestors in the land of Canaan, which God has promised that his descendants would inherit.

[Gen. 47: 28-30]

wayechi - parsha [joseph's journey to egypt]

Joseph, after speaking with his father, Jacob(Israel) and taking into account that his father drew close to his death; Joseph brought his two sons, Manasseh & Ephraim to him.

Joseph & his wife Asenath - with their two sons Manasseh & Ephraim.

Joseph & his wife Asenath – with their two sons Manasseh & Ephraim.

Jacob(Israel), told his two grandsons [Manasseh & Ephraim] to come closer for he would bless them according to the covenant he received from God and his ancestors: Abraham & Isaac.  Oddly, Jacob(Israel), blessed Ephraim, the younger son, in the place of the elder sonManasseh.  Even, after the attempts of Joseph, who noticed that his father blessed his younger son in the place of his eldest and vice-versa.

[Gen. 48: 1-22]

Jacob(Israel) blesses Manasseh & Ephraim.

After blessing his grandchildren, Jacob(Israel), then proceeded to bless all of his children, as well.  Each one receiving a blessing, pertaining to themselves.

[Gen. 49: 1-33]

wayechi -parsha [Jacob's belessings to his sons before his death in Egypt]

Jacob(Israel), then died in Egypt & Joseph, made preparations for his body & burial, but more importantly the fulfillment of his oath to his father.  Because Joseph, was such a great man of stature in Egypt, the passing of his father was a grievous thing among the Egyptians.*  This was so much so, that when Joseph, went to Pharaoh and told him of the oath that his father wished him to fulfill, Pharaoh allowed it, even allowing many of the elders of the house, and of the land, along with servants of the house to go with him to Canaan.  But, upon arrival into the land of Canaan, the Canaanites saw the people that brought up Jacob(Israel), from Egypt, & they saw them mourning at Atad….& said “this is a grievous mourning for the Egyptians.”*  This day brought about the name of “Abel Mitz’raim – אָבֵל מִצרַיִם,” which translates to the “Meadow of Egypt“, or the “Mourning of Egypt.“  All in the procession for the remembrance of the passing of Jacob. [the Patriarch of Israel]

[Gen. 50: 1-14]

wayechi - parsha [Egypt mourns Jacob's death (Israel_in_Egypt)]

Joseph’s brothers, thought surely after their father’s passing that Joseph would in one way or another return the favor for their jealousy of him from their past.  But Joseph did no such thing, but returned to Egypt & witnessed the birth of his other grandchildren and great-grandchildren until his Joseph’s passing in Egypt.  Joseph also made oath with the all of Israelites; that they should bring his bones out of Egypt & lay him to rest with his ancestors in the land of Canaan. [as his father Jacob, did]

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings! This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (or Yefdeyah). I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures. So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of the Torah portions with V(W)aYikra – וַיִּקְרָא.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5777, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 4th – ד, & on the 5th – ה, of the month of Nïsán/ Abïb – אביב / נִיסָן, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel. (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2009/2029/7509, on the Ethiopic calendar. This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 22nd – ፳፪, & on the 23rd – ፳፫, of the month of Megâbït – መጋቢት. In the Scriptures, what is also known as Ṭärtō – ጠርቶ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ)).

Readings:

Leviticus 1:1- 6:7

Isaiah 43:21- 44:23

Hebrews 10: 1-18; 13: 10-15

For this week, in the portion of the study of the Scriptures, we’ve come to W(V)ayikra. In the translation, the topic refers to the first line of the readings; “…& he called…” The laws and ordinances of sacrifice were laid out for the children of Israel. Moses receives the laws and statutes for the “Sacrifices”/”Offerings,” which are to be made for forgiveness/atonement for sins of the children of Israel. The details are explained to Moses, in relevance to the nature or the action, of the sin that may have been committed. Upon the realization of the sin, its offerings are categorized in different ways.

wayikra – parsha

the sacrifice of an animal permissible for the action, was to take the place of the sinner, who had sinned against God, his commandments, or laws and statutes.  Sin was forgiven by faith and repentance, but now because of the ultimate sacrifice, & fulfillment of Scriptures, Christ took on the sins of the world, like a Paschal Lamb of Passover.

wayikra – parsha (sacrifice-priesthood)

The Paschal Lamb was the unblemished animal which used to mark the doors of the Israelites on the night the 10th plague of the “Death of the First Born Of Egypt” was to pass through the land.

[Ex. 11:1- 12:13]

Christ established the new covenant with sacrificing himself, which also became revealed in his speaking over the sharing of the Passover Seder, with the apostles, in the Upper Room.

[Mt. 26:29]

wayikra – parsha (sacrifice-high-priest-sprinkling-blood)

The offering of sacrificial animals and grains were a strong focal point of the Torah, not bribe God, for every animal of the earth, God created, was and belonged to God, anyway. Blood made a consecration and an atonement, with God. Blood is the life of flesh, so the blood makes atonement for the soul and the is symbolizes holiness through sacrifice. The sacrificial system made a representation of a life sacrificed for a life, with the wage of sin being death.

At this point, in the study of the Scriptures, the children of Israel are given the instructions from God through Moses to build a Tabernacle. (in the wilderness)

Tabernacle sketch by Harley Pinon

The children of Israel, produced 13 gifts for offering to YHWH (only seven covered in this portion), for the construction of the Tabernacle.  Contributions of gold, silver, brass(copper), blue, red(scarlet), and purple linen, goat’s hair, ram’s skin dyed red, sealskin, acacia-wood, oil, incense(spices), & gems(onyx stones).

terumah - parsha (tabernacle furniture)

God spoke to Moses, the instruments to be utilized in the Tabernacle with their positions and purposes.  God had set a upon the completion of the Tabernacle, to dwell among the Hebrews.

the Ark. [Ex. 25: 10-22]

Moses, told the children of Israel of what was to be done and how it was to be arranged; and they obeyed and performed the actions set before them.

terumah - parsha (table of showbread-shulch'an)

Menorah/Lampstand (candlestick) [Ex. 25: 31-40]

The children of Israel, by tribe, were to be arranged around the Tabernacle in the wilderness, as well.

Altar of Sacrifice. [Ex. 27: 1-8]

From the dimensions, to the portability, (because of the trek through the wilderness), the Israelites were to follow and construct the dwelling place of YHWH, for the Tabernacle.

Selam/Shalom(peace) to you all,

I, Yohannes, am’ writing all of you because I have admired the talents, skills, & development of the “self” that you all have displayed from time-to-time here on this platform as well as, other outlets.  I also write to present an opportunity not for instant gratification as many info-mercials or prosperity preachers would present to you; but, in hopes to enhance the desire of collective organization, assistance, & heritage appreciation.  I think its safe to say that we all have an affinity to Ethiopia (& or Africa; as a whole) & if I’am mistaken please, feel free to disregard this message or excuse yourself from the group message.  But, if you do find what I have said so far to be interesting,….read on?! It has been brought to my attention the importance of a collective effort; when communication is unclear the goals of any project are destined to fall short of its target; which is success.

Well, this is the point I’am trying to make here:….its understood that in our own ventures we find things to be very difficult to accomplish when the resources, help and other important things are missing from our planning stages. So with that said, the desire to uplift, develop and assist the country(s) of our choice, origin etc., is something we can agree that has a need for serious attention. The things more directly, I’am speaking of, is what Ras Tafarians know as Repatriation(by definition in the world is called “Expatriation“).

In our respective countries, some of us may have found things to be on a scale that wavers back-and-forth, but not to a substantial advantage to us for a number reasons, taking in our specific geographical locations. Seeing as how we have shown, at certain times loyalty, expressed our concern, and celebrated in some, if not all of the victories of the place(s) in which we hold dear: I’m writing to ask that if any of you are willing to begin to working with others, with like minds on a committee to ensure the well-being of those within this prospective group & others who are also willing to collaborate and work with each other then we can commit to thriving and making success out of each other. As of now, this is just a networking experiment with high potential seeing as how all of you have different talents in different areas of expertise.  I’am just one person seeking to create a group with the goal of making sure that the group, which can come together to reason, plan and organize for the success of their own present & future.

Ras Tafari Dig Your Heels In….!!!

No matter where I look, I see that Ras Tafarians in different parts of the world are talented and skilled in various fields.  But, because of the scattering by JAH‘s mighty hand, it easily can be seen as an obstacle to seriously bring together so many like minded people to work for a common goal.

In the growing Ras Tafari international community, we here at RRR are seeking to begin the process bringing together these people who “seek to find” and embrace the trod(walk) of Ras Tafari.

whom JAH bless no man curse (ras tafari proverb)

We have initiated a call conference/radio/video log, for the gathering and reinstating of our heritage preservation as a program of involvement that is open to the public.  We are also planning, and rejuvenating the strength of the Ras Tafari commonwealth.  We invite anyone of the Ras Tafari faithful to join us in this endeavor, because we are truly in the moment of bringing Ras Tafari into the next millennium and beyond.

RRR IS PROUD IN JAH GRACE TO SEE AND HAVE BEEN APART OF THIS INITIAL GATHERING WHICH HAS BLOSSOMED INTO THE “DSR” RAS TAFARI GROUNDAITON KNOWN NOW ON BLOG TALK RADIO ON (Discipleship Radi0)  WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT ALL OF THE SUPPORT AND STICK-TO-IT-IVENESS OF EACH OF THE BETESEB(FAMILY)

♔ Ethiopian Celebration of Christmas _ Genna/YeLidet Be’Al (ገና – የልደት በዓል) ♔

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the Ethiopian holiday of Genna or otherwise called “YeLidet Be’al.”  Because of the calculations of the Ethiopic calendar, we find that the Christmas that is known in the Western world, using the Gregorian calendar doesn’t correspond with the Orthodox Christian churches’ calculations. (though they differ from specific church to church, within the Orthodoxy)  Instead of December 25th, or the twenty-fifth day of the 12th calendar month (Gregorian), we see that the date arrives on January 7th, or the seventh day of the 1st calendar month.

(Orthodox Christian teachings give this as a testimony for the celebration of the birth of Christ)

Christ presented in the Temple to Simeon (Luke 2: 25-26) painted by James J. Tissot

Christ presented in the Temple to Simeon (Luke 2: 25-26) artwork by James J. Tissot

During the first three centuries [A.D. – Anno Domini/After the Death of Christ], in the Churches of Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria and Cyprus, the Nativity of Christ was combined together with the Feast of His Baptism on January 6, and called “Theophany” (“Manifestation of God”).

James Tissot's painting – The Magi Journeying (Les rois mages en voyage) – Brooklyn Museum

James Tissot’s painting – The Magi Journeying (Les rois mages en voyage) – Brooklyn Museum

This was because of a belief that Christ was baptized on the anniversary of His birth, which may be inferred from St. John Chrysostom’s sermon on the Nativity of Christ: “it is not the day on which Christ was born which is called Theophany, but rather that day on which He was baptized.”

By Ethiopic calculations, the birth of Christ, occurs on the Julian calendar‘s framework; predating the Gregorian.  In Eastern Christian (or Orthodox Christian sects) some, Orthodox Christians observe the “Nativity and Adoration of the Shepherds” on January 6th, & the following day may observe, the “Adoration of the Magi” (or otherwise known as the three kings/wise men) on January 7.  Other Orthodox Christians may attend church liturgies on the 6th, or both.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of  the Torah portions with W(V)aYeshe(v)b – וַיֵּשֶׁב.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5777, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 23rd – כג, & on the 24th – כד, of the month of Kislew(v) – כִּסְלֵו, for this week, in this mode of study;  for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2009/2029/7509, on the Ethiopic calendar.  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 13th – ፲፫, & the 14th – ፲፬, of the month of Tah’sas – ታኅሣሥ.  In the Scriptures, this portion of study would also be known as TeQ’emeT’e – ተቀመጠThe Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Genesis 37:1 – 40:23

Amos 2:6 – 3:8

Matthew 1:1-6 ; (same chapter: verses 16-25)

This kifil(portion) of the study of the Scriptures, deals with the stories of the lives of the B’nei Ysrael(or the sons of Israel-Jacob).

B'nei Yshrael-B'nei Yaakob (Twelve Sons of Jacob-Israel)

…each of them having a particular situation they had to deal with, in specific intervals of time, in their lives…

For instance, from the past parsha/kifil(portion), of W(V)ayishlaKH’-Lake’, Simeon & Levi, Jacob-Israel‘s sons by Leah, slew the Shechemites for the rape of their sister, Dinah.

wayishlech - parsha [simeon-and-levi-slay-the-shechemites]

Reuben, later violated his father, and his wife Bilhah, by sleeping with her in the depth of the night, while she thought that it was her husband. (so the firstborn, not only violated his father, but his birthright as well)

Benjamin, the youngest, is born of Jacob-Israel‘s wife, Rachel, but his birth goes “hand-in-hand” with Rachel‘s passing. (leaving him as the “baby of the family” & attracting much of Jacob‘s attention)

Now, in this portion of the study, Jacob-Israel settled in the land of Canaan.  While in Canaan, Joseph, Jacob-Israel‘s elder son of Rachel, is adorned by his father with a beautiful coat with an array of colors and designs.  The love, Joseph received from his father evoked the jealousy of his brothers, & the ability to tune into the dreams and visions, which God continued to send him, did no better for Joseph, pertaining to his brother’s envy.

[Gen. 37: 1-11]

wayesheb - parsha [rock stone (jacobs pillar) bethel]

Joseph‘s brothers were in Shechem feeding their flocks, & Jacob sent Joseph, to join them.  But, because of their envy, Joseph’s brothers sought an opportunity and plotted against him(Joseph), to the point that they considered killing him.

[Gen. 37: 12-24]

But, because the other sons of Jacob-Israel, had not found their brother Joseph in the place where they left him, which was a pit with no water.  Then the other brother, made a story to tell their father that their brother was killed by a wild beast, for they wished not to tell Jacob-Israel, that they plotted rid themselves of their brother, for they were envious of him.

[Gen. 37: 25-36]

Now, in an interim, from the story of Joseph; his brother, Judah marries a Canaanite woman, whom was the daughter of Shua.  The daughter of Shua bore Judah, three sons: Er, Onan &, Shelah.  After the disobedience and deaths of the first two sons, Judah was left to care for his daughter-in-law, Tamar, whom had married his firstborn son, ErOnan, was to take on responsibility of being the caretaker, & his brother’s keeper, in the matters of his sister-in-law, Tamar, but he(Onan) rejected the responsibility; & provoked God to punish him.  So, Judah, as her(Tamar) father-in-law, proposed that she return to her family, & await until Shelah; Judah‘s youngest was to come of age, so that he may assume the position of being his brother’s keeper.

Shelah grew, but he was not given to Tamar, for a husband.  So, she plotted to make Judah acknowledge that he had wronged her, in that his arrangement, responsibility, & commitment to her as a father-in-law, had not been kept.

So, returning to Joseph‘s story; he ends up in Egypt, as a servant to Potiphar, a captain of the Egyptian guardJoseph, while in servitude, is blessed by God that even the Egyptians sense that there is something special about him.  Joseph finds himself in charge of the many things that someone of his status just hadn’t been able to attain.  But, of course, a challenge to his continued success was inevitable.  So, the wife of Potiphar, is enamored by Joseph, & continuously tried to persuade him to sleep with her: but, he resisted her, every time.  But, in one instance, Potiphar was on leave from his home leaving Joseph in charge of all that he had.  Potiphar, trusting Joseph, but Potiphar‘s wife, saw a chance to seize the opportunity to get Joseph all to herself.  Joseph, again refused her, but she forced herself upon him, to the point that he had to flee from her, leaving his garment in her hand.  She being ashamed & angered at Joseph, made false accusations, but turned the words in Potiphar‘s guards and Potiphar‘s ears so that Joseph, found himself in the prisons of Egypt, for betrayal, among other accusations.

[Gen. 39: 1-23]

Potiphar incarcerates Yosef(Joseph) for the accusations of his wife.

Potiphar incarcerates Yosef(Joseph) for the accusations of his wife.

But, while in prison, Joseph is still favored by God, for staying steadfast even in the midst of his adversity; he receives the responsibility that not many would’ve as a prisoner, interpreting dreams and visions, like the ones he had as a child in the land of Canaan.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of  the Torah portions with W(V)aYishlach- וַיִּשְׁלַח.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5777, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 16th – טז, & on the 17th – יז, of the month of Kislew(v) – כִּסְלֵו, for this week, in this mode of study;  for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2009/2029/7509, on the Ethiopic calendar.  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 7th – ፯, & on the 8th – ፰, of the month of Tah’sas – ታኅሣሥ.  In the Scriptures, this portion of study would also be known as Lake’ – ላከ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Genesis 32: 4- 36:43

Obadiah 1: 1-21

Hebrews 11: 11-20

Matthew 26: 36-46

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, we begin with Jacob making his return to the land of Canaan, with his family after a twenty year tenure in Haran. (Aram)

[Gen. 32: 4-6]

wayishlach - parsha [esau and jacob]

Jacob set out to meet his brother, Esau, sought to do the same, upon hearing of Jacob‘s arrival in HebronJacob, weary of the past events that took place with his brother, (…also his uncle/father-in-law…Laban) sent word ahead with gifts, to appease Esau.

[Gen. 32: 7-8]

wayishlach - parsha [jacob at peniel]

Jacob, praying to God, to see him through the possibly unfavorable encounter with his brother, Esau; feared that an attempt on his life at the hands of brother Esau, would be inevitable.  But, Jacob harkened to the call God made to him, of his father Isaac, and Abraham.

[Gen. 32: 9-32]

Though, Esau came with many, Jacob was humble with only his family & those with them.  Also, though between them (Esau & Jacob) it was seemingly “bad blood” with their recent history, they were both able to reconcile with one another.

[Gen. 33: 1-7]

Esau, then even invited Jacob to live in Seir(Edom), but Jacob chose to settle in Sukkot, near Shalem*.  Nearby, Jacob erected an altar, to the name of the God that blessed him, continuously.

Dinah, the only daughter of Jacob, by Leah, then went out among the people of the land, & there was a Hivite, named Shechem, the son of Hamor, a prince of the country, took her in no formal way of courtship, but later spoke to the ideals of love for her, in which Dinah never objected too.  Shechem spoke to his father to make arrangements to marry Dinah, but Jacob had heard of his daughter’s encounter with the Hivite prince, along with all of Jacob‘s sons.  Hamor, sought to make peace between the Hivites and the Jacobites (Israelites), with marriages between the people, with the initiate being the union of Shechem & Dinah.  But, Jacob‘s sons saw the actions of the Hivite prince to be morally a crime, against them.

The sons of Jacob, answered deceitfully, with the intent to punish the Hivites for morally wicked actions done to their sister.  The sons of Jacob, made prerequisites pending the negotiations that the Jacobites would marry into the families of the HivitesShechem, and Hamor made haste that they and all the males of them should comply with the requests of the sons of Jacob, to gain not only the peaceable marriage to their daughters, but giving the daughters of the Hivites to the sons of Jacob to marry.  Thus, gaining their consent to dwell together with them.  For Jacob, blessed of God, was wealthy in flocks and substance.  But, Simeon & Levi, foiled their plans and instead sacked ShechemJacob was inagered with his sons for the deeds, but Simeon & Levi saw it, as if their sister had been taken to be a harlot.

[Gen. 34: 13-31]

Massacre of the Hivites by Simeon and Levi

Jacob, then made it so that all of his household, were to know the God that preserved him throughout his years.  So, he made sure that they put away strange things from among them, before going to Bethel once more.  Deborah, who came with Jacob‘s mother Rebekah to the land of Canaan with Isaac, dies just before God appears to Jacob again.  Rachel, Jacob‘s wife, then bear labor pains for the second time, & bear a second son, which she named “Benoni“(son of my sorrow), but Jacob named him, “Benjamin“(son of my right hand).  But, Rachel passed at Ephrath, in Bethleham.  Jacob set a memorial stone on the grave of his wife, Rachel.

[Gen. 35: 1-21]

Deborah & (little) Rachel

Deborah & (little) Rebekah

Jacob & Leah, went to see Isaac, but while they were away Reuben, lusted after Bilhah & lay with her unknowingly to her before it was too late for her to notice that she was not with her husband; but Reuben loved her, as if she were to be his wife.  Jacob was exceedingly wroth with Reuben because he had lain with Bilhah.” (Apocrapha: Gen. 35)  For this, Reuben defiled his birthright, as the firstborn of Israel.

Before his death, Isaac, saw & blessed his younger son Jacob, and his family.

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings!

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Shabbat) we move into the opening of the Torah portion with Kedôshïm – קְדֹשִׁים; on the 5th – , & on the 6th – , from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel; on of the month of Iyyar (אִייָר) or otherwise known as Ziw(v) – [זיו] . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)  From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Qídusán – ቅዱሳን; (with its correspondence to the Sun) & to the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar, calculating to the 5th – ፭, & on the 6th – ፮of the month of G’nbot(ግንቦት) for this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez – ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 19:1- 20:27

Amos 9: 7-20

I Corinthians 6: 9-20

I Peter 1: 13-16

Kedoshi’yim – Q’dusan; has a literal English translation of “the holy ones,” or “the saints.”

Torah-Scroll

The study begins with GOD speaking to Moses, and the children of Israel, saying “make thyselves Holy for He, himself is Holy.”  God, intending to make the children of Israel, “up their game,” in one way or another, by slang terminology.  But, in a literal sense, God sought the children of Israel to turn from ways that hadn’t gotten them anywhere spiritually, physically, and mentally, as a group.  The children of Israel were to adhere to certain principles, laws, commandments, ordinances etc…..

kedoshim - parsha4

The children of Israel were also given to more laws, commandments and statutes to live by, even while in the wilderness.  Also, the tilling and agricultural aspects of what the Hebrew people were to align their workings to was given to them by the words of God.  By Moses‘ teachings, given to him by God, the Hebrews were able to begin to formulate and sharpen skills needed to continue building the seed of the nation, which was promised to their predecessors; Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob.

Micah 7: 18 – 20

HEBREW CALENDAR2

Purim, is the celebration of the deliverance of the Jews(Hebrews) that were under the rule of the Persian Empire.

[SIDE-NOTE] FLASH FORWARD, in Scripture the Persian Empire(or otherwise known to be the “Medes,” were apart the four kingdoms prophecy, which Nebuchadnezzer’s dream, was interpreted by Daniel, for him by way of God’s revealing).

[Daniel chpt. 2; Daniel chpt. 7]

The Persian Empire came after the Babylonian Captivity.

Nebuchadnezzar-statue2

The Jews (or the Hebrews) in Persia were freed from the hand of Haman, who had gained favor in the sight of the king Ahasuerus(whom is also accounted for as being Xerxes I). No, Xerxes I, is not the Persian king of the movie “300” dealing with the Spartans. THAT WAS PURE HOLLYWOOD ENTERTAINMENT; THIS IS HISTORICAL FACT. Xerxes, was the king of Persia whom gave favor to Haman the Agagite. But loved deeply, Esther, whom was the daughter of Mordecai (mo, the Jew.

achaedyn

Mordecai, instructed (Hadassah)/”Esther” to conceal her heritage from the king and all of his court, for she had been taken along with many other young women to be suited for the king of Persia, because he put away Vashti, from being queen. But upon the conflict of Mordecai vs. Haman; Haman sought to destroy ALL the Jews in Persia. Silver was the payment of Haman to the king to destroy the Jews(Hebrews), young old, men, women and children.

[Esther 2: 7- 3:15]

MAP_PERSIA

Vashti, refused the king’s request to appear before the king & his guests, which were nobles and princes throughout Persia and Media.

[Esther 1(entire Chpt)]

But, unknowingly Hadassah(Eshter), was of the people of Jews(Hebrews) by way of her adoption by Mordecai, who reverenced not Haman, as the king had wanted for those of the kingdom in Persia and Media.

In the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar – אֲדָר, on its thirteenth day … on the day that the enemies of the Jews were expected to prevail over them, it was turned about: the Jews prevailed over their adversaries.

I&I would also like to give much, much thanks to the Lion of Judah Society, Inc., organization for their interpretation of Scriptures, historical events, & Ras Tafari dissemination of Ethiopian heritage in Africa, as well as, the diaspora. Here, I would like for you all to check out & consider the facts put forth here. Research, study & come to your own conclusions about the story of Hadassah(Esther), the Queen.

So, all-in-all to the Daughters of Zion, which I named this [(Original)] posting,…which I’am sure many of you are questioning that move…Well, its very simple! Women, in society are many times are thought to be pushed to the backside of many important events, and happenings in this world we see today, but, clearly even in antiquity, women held power and influence that they, themselves, sometimes are unable to recognize. &, in this case the power to save millions to the billions from despair.  So, to the Daughters, remember that with this type of blessing comes a great deal of responsibility. Handle it with care, my sistren.

www-St-Takla-org--Bible-17Est06--10-12-Haman-and-Mordecai

But, for the Daughters of Zion, as well as, the Sons, the Scriptures clearly state that we are to remember Purim for all generations, and to keep them in writing.

[Esther 9:27-28]

Not to mention being the other halves of the givers of life, nourishment, sustainability…and out right, “being the first teachers of human civilization (more specifically, every child) that comes to this world” _quoted from El Hajj Malik El Shabazz(Malcolm X) by way of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Sisters, mothers, daughters and women of our families the message you give to the child(children) they will give to the world. So please, consider your illustrious position in the cosmology of this existence. & while we as Ras Tafari, Ethiopians, Hebrews, & Israelites, celebrate the essence of woman in the example of Queen Esther; I certainly hope, that the men will acknowledge the counterpart that was created to be the companion of ours.
