Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

RRR - prototype (2015-16)

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to seek insight) into the study of the Scriptures.  So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Shabbat) we move into the opening of the Torah portion with Nitẓab(v)ïm – נִצָּבִים, on the 27th – כז, & the 28th – כח, of the month of Elul – אֱלוּל, in the year of 5776. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)  From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation, where the current year is 2009/7509; these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known, also as, Q’ōmachi’ḥʷal – ቆማችኋል.  This would calculate as the 20th – ፳, & the 21st – ፳፩, of the month of Mäskäräm- መስከረም.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet – ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez – (ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 29:10 – 30:20

Isaiah 61:10 – 63:9

Romans 10: 1-12

In this portion of the Scripture studies’, Moses tells the people that adherence and obedience to the laws, which they were given/taught would allow them to prolong their days in the land, & make them fruitful in abundance; in contrast, turning away would lead them down the road to destruction.  Only turning to the ways which the children of Israel were taught by Moses in the way of God, would lead them again into grace.  This would be the parameters for a covenant which God would make with the children of Israel.

Because of their waywardness(the Israelites); God spoke to Moses, telling him to teach the Israelites that the covenant would not only pertain to them alone, though Israel would be a people to God(himself).  The covenant would also include those that would stand with Israel, once upon hearing the words of the book of the Law.  Those who would not hearken to the word, of course, would be a testament to the judgment of disobedience.

I welcome you all to a new regeneration of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Readings:

Leviticus 26: 3 – 27:34

Jeremiah 16:19 – 17:14

Matthew 21: 33-46

In this literal English meaning, it can be speculated to come to congruency in the phrases of: “in my order/statutes,” or “by my decrees.”  In this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel’s, main concern should’ve been the upkeep of YHWH‘s laws and commandments, which clearly spoken by the God of Israel, would yield abundance, peace, and security.

[Lev. 26: 3-13]

BaDebreh Torah (Parshat Bechu'kotai)

BaDebreh Torah (Parshat Bechu’kotai)

Now, in this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel were instructed by Moses, who was given the Law upon Mount Sinai.  The children of Israel were to keep the commandments, so prosperity would abide with them.  It was assured to the Hebrews that if they were to keep these laws and statutes, then they would yield abundance, peace, and security from God.

Of this covenant, upon Sinai, Israel should’ve received rain in due season, and land that would produce plentifully.  They would reap the benefits of a peaceful harmonious land and none would intimidate them from outside.  Wild beasts would be driven out of the land, along with those who could possibly threaten the tranquility of Israel in their land.  Enemies of Israel would flee, for they would not have the power to stand before Israel to quarrel with them, and if any persisted they would surely fall.  The Tabernacle would continue to reside within Israel & God vowed to be with them always, to love & to be their God.

[Lev. 26: 1-13]

Renewal of Israel

Renewal of Israel

But, if Israel were not to keep the commandments then Judgment was of a surety.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

Obedience to the wills of the good influence of the God of Israel, upon the Hebrews would bring this rain in due season, land that would be plentiful, peace throughout all of the land, none would be able to intimidate them, and enemies would flee from them for they would know that the power of YHWH rested with the children of Israel.

Disobedience, of course, was another story entirely, as obvious as it may or may not seem.  Disobedience would lead the children of Israel into a array of dismay.  Destruction, desolation, drought, disorderly conduct almost without any control of any outcome.  Not to mention the dispersion and disruption of their growing and bustling communities of families.

[Lev. 26: 14-39]

curseofisrael

If Israel were not to keep the commandments then covenant, of course would be annulled.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

The Dispersion into Desolation [Lev. 26: 32-39]

The Dispersion into Desolation [Lev. 26: 32-39]

Israel’s redemption, would only come if the Hebrews were to confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespassing against God’s covenantAcceptance of their faults in bringing God’s wrath upon them; only then would the covenant be remembered, as well as, the people and the land be healed.

I welcome you all to one of many of the interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of (W)Văyăkhäl – וַיַּקְהֵל , combined with Pékūdei – פְקוּדֵי for this week, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel. Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of (W)Vayikra. From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5775 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 22nd-(כב), & the 23rd-(כג), of the month of Adar-אֲדָר. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Säb’s’bō – ሰብስቦ , for the Sabbath of (W)Văyăkhäl,Ϊ’Qă D’mr Y’h Nä– ዕቃ ድምር ይህ ነው , for the study of the Sabbath Pekūdei; on the 4th-፬, & 5th-፭, of ወርኀ(month) of መጋቢት(Megabeet). To pre-cure an adequate number of portions for the Torah Sabbath readings 2015 is classified as a year where parsha(portion)-[W]Văyăkhäl, & is combined with parsha(portion)-Pékūdei.

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses relays the rules & regulations for the Sabbath & how they are to conduct themselves and teach the following generations as a statute among them, forever. Moses also gave the instructions of God, to the children of Israel for the construction of the tabernacle.  He explains how two chosen among them were Betz’aleel ben Uri(ben Uri=son of Uri), out of the tribe of Judah, & Aholiab ben Achiycamakh(ben Achiycamakh=son of Achiycamakh) were called by God to be the craftsmen of the Tabernacle in the wilderness.

pekudei - parsha [builders of the tabernacle]

The children of Israel were to bring, of a willing heart, offerings to God that would aid in the construction of the tabernacle. Things like: fine linen of the colors blue, purple, scarlet, goat’s hair, badger’s skin, shittim wood, as well as, ram’s skin{dyed red}, gold, silver, oil for light, spices(for anointing and the candlestick-lampstand and incense), brass. Also, onyx stones for the ephod, & the “wise-hearted” [Ex. 36: 5-35]

While the people brought willing to God the items, which they could provide, but it was brought to Moses’ attention that they brought more than what would be needed. Moses then gave commandment and proclamation to the children of Israel that they be restrained from bringing anymore gifts/offerings to the builders and the wise-hearted for the service. In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the accounting of the offerings given by the children of Israel’s contribution to the Mishkan(tabernacle), is taken by Moses and Aaron.  The continuous diligent works of the builders and wise hearted, not only contribute to the tent, and all its furniture, but the garments the priests they made also.

Even by census, did the children of Israel walk in the ways of the God of Israel.  The vestments of priesthood(Levites), along with all of the furnishings of theSanctuary and Outer Court were taken in by sum to complete the rising of the Tabernacle.

Moses, made a blessing upon all of the instruments that were set to be used by the children of Israel.  He also consecrated the priesthood which consisted of Aaron, and his descendants.  They were ordained to be the servicemen for the work of the Tabernacle.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Re’eh-רְאֵה, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 26th-כו, & the 27th-כז, of the month of Ab(v)אָב‎.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Inéhō-እነሆ.  This would calculate as the  16th-፲፮ , & the 17th-፲፯, of the month of Nehâsé-ነሐሴ .  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 11:26- 16:17

Isaiah 54:11- 55:5

John 7: 37-52

I John 4: 1-6

In this study portion of the Scriptures, we’ve come Re’eh(רְאֵה), which in the Hebrew language means “to see.”  In the Amharic language, the word used as an equivalent for the name of this parsha is more properly…would be; Ra’iy-ራእይ.  Theses words in the ancient tongues divulge the meanings: “to see,” “have a vision,” “behold,” or “make sight of.”

wadjet & nekhbet (two eyes of Horus)

This portion of our reading, in the Book of Deuteronomy, begins on verse 26, where Moses is continuing to instruct the children of Israel, in the ways of God’s statutes, laws, and commandments; especially for the entry into the Land of Promise.  Causing these instructions to become known among all Israel, whereas it would be well with them.  God told Moses, to teach the children of Israel these lessons, for Moses explained that God had set a Blessing & a Curse before them.  Following the ways of God would render blessings upon them, and turning away would bring curse upon them.  The children of Israel, were clearly free to choose.

[Deut. 11: 26-32]

blessing and the curse

The conditions of the blessing in the land, for the children of Israel were also given by Moses, from God.  The children of Israel were to observe, and do the will of God for it would determine the prosperity of their dwelling in the land.  The laws, statutes, and commandments were laid out so the children of Israel, would teach them to their children for God’s laws and covenant with Israel would be an everlasting covenant; given they take heed of themselves.

[Deut. 12]

wolves-in-sheep-clothing(false prophets)

Now, knowing that they were given the chance to choose; the children of Israel, were to also recognize that it would be necessary to know wherein they were to discern between choices.  The children of Israel were warned to be wary of prophets or dreamers of dreams that would arise among them, and to take precaution that their signs and their wonders, would not lead them away from the ways of God’s commandments.

Now, in dealing with servants: those of the inheritance and those of foreign origin there was, of course, a protocol for the children of Israel, as well.  The Hebrew servant was to be absolved from his Hebrew creditor, in the “Sabbath yearShemittah” or the 7th year.  But, it would be up to the Hebrew creditor to absolve a debt from a foreigner or one not of the origin of the Hebrew people.  God sought that none should be poor among Israel, so in this act, the children of Israel would contribute to their own prosperity in another form.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ph(F)ïncḥas-פִּינְחָס, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 13th-יג, & the 14th-יד, of the month of Támmuz-תמוז.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Feenḥas-ፊንሐስ.  This would calculate as the 4th-፬, & the 5th-፭, of the month(ወርኀ) of Ḥamlé-ሐምሌ.  The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

In this study, we continue in the accordance to the last portion.(Balak)  After what had become the Heresy of Baal-Peor, Phineas, the son of Eleazar, and the grandson of Aaron(Moses’ brother), lead in a moments notice, with zealot acts.

Pinchas ben-Eleazar (Phineas, the son of Eleazar; grandson of Aaron); Tribe of Lew[v]i _ accredited to Mr. John L. Johnson‘s work, the Black Biblical Heritage.

Phineas, in which this parsha study is named, from the Hebrew and the Ethiopic Amharic, had slain a Midianitish woman, who’s name was Cozbi, and a Simeonite prince of Israel; who’s name was Zimri.   These two, along with many others partook in the turning away from God, in the sin of Baal-Peor.  Phineas, had stood up for Israel, turning God’s wrath away from them because of his zealousy and understanding of the covenant that was to be kept, between Israel & YHWH.

So, in a sense, because Phineas was willing to give his all to his God & for his people; seeing as how the Moabites and Midianites had conspired against Israel to bring them out of the favor of God; Phineas even went to the extent of going to war for God and them(children of Israel).  Phineas’ actions coupled with his faith as well, opened the door in which God gave a Covenant of Peace.  He and his those of his lineage would partake in it, continuing the Priesthood, among the lineage of Aaron(Moses’ brother).

Moses, was then instructed by God to take an account(census), for the second time, of the children of Israel, by family(or tribal lineage). [other census was taken in Numbers Chpt. 1: 1-16]

Because, of the waywardness of Israel’s faithfulness to God, their numbers dwindled and grew in spurts, while in the wilderness.  (ie. the Golden Calf, the Rebellion of Korah, and at this point; post- the Heresy of Baal-Peor…not forgetting the other instances withing Israel while in the wilderness)  So, Moses was instructed to take Eleazar, the High Priest(son of Aaron; father of Phineas), and number the children of Israel, once again, for God had said the because of the disobedience of this people, they should not enter into my rest.  But the children that would come after them would partake in the covenant, made the Abraham, Isaac & Jacob; albeit that those children of the generation of the Exodus from Egypt, would uphold the covenant and abide by the laws, commandments and statutes of God.

[Numb. 26: 1-51]

balak - parsha [land of canaan before conquest]

The children of Israel, were numbered by their tribal lineages, for the second time, by Moses and Eleazar; for God was preparing to bring the children of the Israelites, who made the Exodus from Egypt to the wilderness; into the Land that was Promised.

At this point, when the children of Israel, were receiving their plots and inheritances of the land, the Daughters of Zelophehad, came to Moses and the congregation in attempt to procure, the inheritance due to their father, who had passed & had no son pass his lineage to; for he(Zelophehad) had five daughters.  Usually, the children of Israel made it customary for the son to inherit the lot of his father’s.

Moses, in sincerity, took the Daughters of Zelophehad’s case to God, & God explained to Moses that though the children of Israel kept customary morals, the Daughters of Zelophehad had a very probable case.  God instructed to grant the daughters the plot that was to be allotted to their father, had he bear a son, whom would carry on his lineage among Israel.  From then on, it would not be a question whether or not a man bear a son to inherit his plot; because, the laws for possessing an inheritance from one parents among Israel, would not only come as a responsibility to the male children among Israel, but the responsibility would also come to the daughters, as well.

God then spoke to Moses, saying, go up to Mount Abarim, and see the land which will give to the children of Israel, to dwell.  Moses, could view the land from afar, but he couldn’t enter in, because of his disobedience at the waters of Meribah, in Kadesh(when Moses struck the ROCK); so Moses would be gathered to his people, along with the generation that wandered in the wilderness.

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of A’KH’arei Mot-אַחֲרֵי מוֹת , for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 9th & 10th of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Kemotu BeKH’wala-ከሞቱ በኋላ, on the 11th(፲፩) & 12th(፲፪) day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya).

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, after the death Aaron’s two sons (Nadab & Abihu),

Nadab & Abihu, sons of Aaron

Nadab & Abihu, sons of Aaron

Moses is instructed by God to teach the children of Israel his ways for properly conducting themselves for the service of the Tabernacle. This portion of the Scriptures deals with the rituals which have become what is known today as Yom Kippur(the Day of Atonement), among the Hebrew/Judaic failthful.

When Moses receives the laws and instruction for the practices to be conducted, he is instructed to “cast lots” upon two goats, for the children of Israel. One “lot” is to be cast for an offering to God & the other for a “scapegoat.”

This ritual along with the other practices of the offerings/sacrifice were to be done in the Tabernacle(Mishkan), especially as a statute for Israel on the 10th day of the 7th(Tishrei-תִּשְׁרִי) month. [Lev. 16:29]

Also, in the parsha(portion) other commandment, laws, and statutes were given to the children of Israel to follow to keep themselves set apart from the other people they might find themselves around. [Lev. 18]

So, with the portion of the A’KHarei Mot-Kemotu BeKh’wala, the portion of Kedoshy’im-קְדֹשִׁים , will be read for this week’s Sabbath in the order of the Hebrew/Judaic cycle readings. This study comes to us as Q’idusan-ቅዱሳን, from the Ethiopic-Christian perspective.

The Gleaners (by Gustave Doré from the 1865 La Sainte Bible) ; Lev. 19:9

The Hebrew word of Kedoshy’im and the Ethiopian-Amharic word of Q’idusan, has its resonance and definition found in the English as, ” the holy ones .” This notion of conclusion comes from Leviticus 19:1-2, where God speaks to Moses, instructing him to tell the children of Israel to “sanctify themselves” or “make themselves holy,” for he is “Holy.”
