33rd Kifil Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of BeKH’ukotai-בְּחֻקֹּתַי, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5774 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the, 16th-טז, & the 17th-יז, of the month of Iyar-אִייָר. [“Iyar,” from its Shemitic root is an Akkadian name “Ayarru“- which has a literal meaning in English as “blossom or to blossom“; Iyar is also referred to as “Zi(w)vזיו“= from its Hebrew origin means, “to light or glow“]  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeS’autæy-በሥርዓቴ, on the 8th-፰, & the 9th-፱, of the month(ወርኀ) of G’nbot-ግንቦት.  The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 26: 3 – 27:34

Jeremiah 16:19 – 17:14

Matthew 21: 33-46

In this literal English meanings, come to a congruency in the phrases of: “in my order/statutes,” or “by my decrees.”  In this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel, main concern should’ve been the upkeep of YHWH’s laws and commandments, which clearly spoken by the God of Israel, would yield abundance, peace and security.

[Lev. 26: 3-13]

Obedience to the wills of the good influence of the God of Israel, upon the Hebrews would also rain in due season, land that would be plentiful, peace throughout all of the land, none would be able to intimidate them, and enemies would flee from them for they would know that the power of YHWH rested with the children of Israel.

Disobedience, of course, was another story entirely, as obvious as it may or may not seem.  Disobedience would lead the children of Israel into a array of dismay.  Destruction, desolation, drought, disorderly conduct almost without any control of any outcome.  Not to mention the dispersion and disruption of their growing and bustling communities of families.

[Lev. 26: 14-39]

If Israel were not to keep the commandments then Judgment was of a surety.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

The Dispersion into Desolation [Lev. 26: 32-39]

Israel’s redemption, would only come if the Hebrews were to confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespassing against God’s covenant.  Acceptance of their faults in bringing God’s wrath upon them; only then would the covenant be remembered, as well as, the people and the land be healed.

Atop, Mount Sinai, God spoke to Moses with instructions for the children of Israel when they were to come into the land that was promised to them.  For example, upon entry into the Land of Promise, an order was to be put into practice for the tilling of the land/earth.

The land was to given rest on the seventh year, just as the Hebrews were to observe the Sabbath on the seventh day perpetually.(from generation-to-generation) This form of agriculture has come to us in the Hebrew word_ Shemittahשמטה (Sabbitical year[Sabbath year] _is a credible translation).  In the year of rest, the farmers, who were of the children of Israel were not to till the land or harvest that of the work of their hands from the crops. The land was to be in a Sabbath year or resting year from plowing and working.  What grew on its own, the children of Israel could partake in, though.

This study portion also contains commandments based laws, for the children of Israel when dealing in the realm of governing the sale of lands, and the eradicating fraud and usury(or misuse).  The land was not to be sold, but to be kept, by the “sowers & reapers” of it.

In agriculture, which would become a facet of Israelite heritage and daily life, guidelines were presented in the fashion of practicality and spiritual upliftment to the children of Israel.  Take for instance, the Shemittah:

The institution for the observance(s) of the Jubilee years, was also a focal point in the study portion of the Scriptures.  The Hebrews also were instructed in Mosaic lawful manner that contributed to a wholesome, and wholistic way of life.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Kedoshim-קְדֹשִׁים. , from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  Also, in the 5774 year, this Sabbath day would probably accounted for on the 25th-כה, & the 26th-כו, of the month of Nisan/Abib-נִיסָן.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Q’idusan-ቅዱሳን.

The opening line of the Parsha/Kifil(portion) of the Scripture study for this week, post-Pesach/Fasika is Kedoshi’yim-Q’idusan; with a literal English translation of “the holy ones,” or “the saints.”

Torah-Scroll

The study begins with GOD speaking to Moses, and the children of Israel, saying “make thyselves Holy for He, himself is Holy.”  God, intending to make the children of Israel, “up their game,” in one way or another, by slang terminology.  But, in a literal sense, God sought the children of Israel to turn from ways that hadn’t gotten them anywhere spiritually, physically, and mentally, as a group.  The children of Israel were to adhere to certain principles, laws, commandments, ordinances etc…..

kedoshim - parsha4

The children of Israel were also given to more laws, commandments and statutes to live by, even while in the wilderness.  Also, the tilling and agricultural aspects of what the Hebrew people were to align their workings to was given to them by the words of God.  By Moses’ teachings, given to him by God, the Hebrews were able to begin to formulate and sharpen skills needed to continue building the seed of the nation, which was promised to their predecessors; Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob.

The portion of the study of the Scriptures for this week is Metz’orah- מְּצֹרָעMetz’orah has a meaning that comes in the English as either “one being diseased,” or “one infected.”  In the Ethiopic-Judeo-Christian perspective, this parsha(portion) of the Scriptures is named Bements’atu Q’en-በመንጻቱ ቀን.  This study deals with the interaction with what has come to be known as a “Leper.”  In this portion of Scripture study, God instructs Moses, on how to deal with those who may be of Israel who might become infected with the disease of leprosy.

[Lev. 14: 1-32]

Healing the Leper

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, eight days after the ordination or anointing of the Kohani’im (Priesthood), Moses now instructs Aaron to prepare a sin offering of a young bullock , as well as, a burnt offering of a ram and the children of Israel, were instructed to bring a sin offering of one kid from the goats, and a their burnt offering was to be one calf and one lamb, both of the first year, without blemishes.  Another bullock and ram were brought for a peace offering, along with a meat offering mingled with oil before God.

[Lev. 9:1-20]

A wave offering was also presented before God, & the people were blessed out of the fire, because of the following of the laws and statutes while serving God in the wilderness.

[Lev. 9:21-24]

Aaron’s sons, Nadab & Abihu, were serving and performing the duties of the Priesthood, but offered a “strange fire” before God, which he had commanded them not to do. This action resulted in their judgment, which came by their deaths by being consumed by fire. Aaron, saw the consequences of the negative choices his own sons made by not staying in line with the Sinaitic Covenant & in line with the Order of the Levites; the statutes established between Israel & God upon Mount Sinai.

32nd & 33rd Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

416951_10152196717220147_1724870670_n

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Behar-בְּהַר, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 23rd & 24th of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeSina Terara-በሲና ተራራ, on the 25th & 26th day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya).

Readings:

Leviticus 25:1- 26:2

Jeremiah 32:6-27

Luke 4:16-21

[SPECIAL NOTES FOR THIS SABBATH]*

For Ras Tafari, globally, this Sabbath should hold a special place in their hearts and minds. The reasoning for this is because in a tri-fold state፡ 1) as Hebrews; they’ll come into the time of the day of rest for the Sabbath time, 2) this Sabbath brings with it the Ethiopian congruency to the Hebraic Passover in what is known as Fasika-ፋሲካ. (…which is more properly known as Tinsa’ey-ትንሣኤ), &, 3) this Ethiopian celebration of the Passion of the Christ, (in Fasika-Tinsa’ey) just so happens to come forth on the date that will be commemorated as ETHIOPIA’S INDEPENDANCE DAY, from Fascist and colonial invasion. (YES I’!!, MAY-DAY, INDEED!)

…more to be presented on this subject at the conclusion of the parsha study…

Now, to the portion of Scripture for this Sabbath…

A year of Jubilee year was also to be proclaimed by the children of Israel.  Insomuch, as where seven sabbaths in a yearly sense multiplied to an additional seven years(i.e. 49 years) would usher in a year of the Jubilee(a 50th year) to the Hebrews. [Lev. 25: 8-13]

[BLOWING OF THE SHOFAR-TRUMPET]*

In the “upkeep,” of all the laws, statutes, and commandments that God told Moses to teach the children of Israel; it was assured to them(the Hebrews) that if they were to keep those laws from generation to generation, they would dwell in the land of promise, in safety, securely. [Lev. 25: 19]

*THIS WEEK’S SABBATH COMES UP TO ANOTHER DOUBLE PORTION OF THE STUDY OF THE SCRIPTURES AS WELL*

–to keep up with an accurate number of the readings of the Torah for the yearly cycle

So, with the portion of Behar-BeKH’ukotai, we will know go into the study of BeKH’ukotai-בְּחֻקֹּתַי  , which will be added to this week’s Sabbath in the order of the Hebrew/Judaic cycle readings.  This study comes to us as BeSir’Autey-በሥርዓቴ, from the Ethiopic-Christian perspective.  The Hebrew and Amharic words for this study could be translated into phrases like: “In my order,” or “In my statutes/laws.”

Renewal of Israel

Renewal of Israel

Now, in this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel were instructed by Moses, who was given the Law upon Mount Sinai.  The children of Israel were to keep the commandments, so prosperity would abide with them.  It was assured to the Hebrews that if they were to keep these laws and statutes, then they would yield abundance, peace, and security from God.

Of this covenant, upon Sinai, Israel should’ve received rain in due season, and land that would produce plentifully.  They would reap the benefits of a peaceful harmonious land and none would intimidate them from outside.  Wild beasts would be driven out of the land, along with those who could possibly threaten the tranquility of Israel in their land.  Enemies of Israel would flee, for they would not have the power to stand before Israel to quarrel with them, and if any persisted they would surely fall.  The Tabernacle would continue to reside within Israel & God vowed to be with them always, to love & to be their God. [Lev. 26: 1-13]

But, if Israel were not to keep the commandments then Judgment was of a surety.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

*[SPECIAL NOTES]*

I would also like everyone to note that with this Sabbath being apart of Behar, with Mount Sinai as part of the subject, let us remember the relics founds upon this mountain, which still happen to be hidden from the general public, who interpret & correctly put into place their significance.

The letter written from a Ethiopian recalling the times in Ethiopian for the celebration of Fasika/Tinsa’ey are to be shown for the joy of the “Triumphant Christ.”

Even the Ethiopic-Christian practices of antiquity hold to a Hebraic center, after all, Christ told his disciples to “…go into all nations and preach the Gospel…,” it just so happens that those who heard and sought to do the will of God, by the words of these Apostles, who were Hebrews, became known as “Christians”,….hence what the world knows now as the “Judeo-Christian faith”, theology, logic, or whatever else they tend to try to brand it with.

Christians are Hebrews at heart,”…Dr. Phil Valentine-EL

…Still Need More Proof….? Sheesh!!! Well alright here you go….

As Hebrews/Israelites/Jews bring an end to the Shabbot/Sabbath this evening (May 3rd, 2013-Iyar 23rd), Ethiopian-Christians will be spending the night in a church, (by tradition; if ones participate by ability) to read, study, sing, and prepare for the Resurrection of Christ.  They will light candles just as the candles on the Menorah are lit, but in contrast to the modern Judaism, Ethiopian-Christians will, as we Ras Tafari say; “lively up themselves“, wearing beautifully embroidered garments.  They will sing songs, beat the drums and use sistrums played by Ethiopian priests, nuns, and laymen(everyday people).

IT IS A JOYOUS EVENT, IN SPIRIT & PRACTICE!

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Emor- אֱמֹר , for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 16th & 17th of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Bileh N’gerachew- ብለህ ንገራቸው, on the 18th(፲፰) & 19th(፲፱) day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya).

Leviticus 21: 1- 24:23

Ezekiel 44: 15-31

I Peter 2: 4-10

So, in the study of the Biblical Scriptures, we have come to the portion of Emor, & in this section of Scripture, Moses receives from God other rules & regulations for the Priesthood of Israel.  In which, the priests were to sanctify themselves to be the priests of Israel to God, they were required to uphold specific standards and codes of decorum & they were to administer certain feasts which were to become memorial statutes for generations to come.

In the opening of this study, God outlines more laws and statutes for the Priesthood. The priests of Israel are not defile themselves within or outside of the community Israel. If they(speaking of the priests), are to choose wives, the wives should come from within the community of the priesthood lineage, & the wives also should be sanctified along with the children that should come. The relationships and the walk of the priests should be in-law to the commandments of the God of Israel. [Lev. 21:1- 22:16]

The feast and memorials were told to Moses by God also in this portion of Scripture. Moses is told to instruct the Israelites, especially the priesthood, to proclaim, observe, due diligence to the Holy Days, which were to be set apart as remembrances from generation to generation.

God continues instructing Moses to teach the priests on how to conduct services in the sanctuary of the Tabernacle. Things like; the lighting of the lamps for the candlestick(or the Menorah- מְנוֹרָה), on a regular basis,

the bread offerings, also where the meals were to take place within the Tabernacle.  [Lev. 24:1-10]  Then, the story of the “Blasphemer,” came to Moses  so that he should teach to the children of Israel. [Lev. 24]
