20th (ክፍል/פרשה) Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee). I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures. So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the Torah portion of Tetẓ’av(w)eh-תְּצַוֶּה.  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5775, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 8th-ח, & the 9th-ט, of the month of Adar-אֲדָר‎, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2007/2027/7507, on the Ethiopic calendar.  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 20th-፳, & the 21st-፳፩, on the (ወርኀ)month of የካቲት(Yekateet).  In the Scriptures, what is also known as Ízäzáchäw-እዘዛቸው.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Exodus 27:20- 30:10

Ezekiel 43:10-27

Hebrews 13:10-17

Now, in summation of the study we have in front of us; Moses is told by God that the children of Israel are to complete the construction of a sanctuary in the wilderness.  Other instruments and furniture, for the Tabernacle, that would be needed included: olive oil for the lampstand in what would be known as the Holy Place.

[Ex. 27: 20]

[Ex. 25: 31]And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.

Also, in this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the subject deals mostly with the “everlasting flame” of the candlestick.

[Ex. 25:31-40]

[Hebrews 12: 29]"...For our GOD is a consuming fire..."

Olive Oil(oil of anointing [Ex.25:6]) was to be used for light, including the other furniture

The priesthood is also established in the heritage of the Levites(Hebrew Israelite Tribe of Levi), along with the priestly garments that were to be constructed & worn only when service in the Tabernacle was to be performed.

Moses, by the instruction of God, ordains Aaron, his brother, to become the High Priest, along with his sons and the rest of his descendants. Here, Aaron’s wife, Elisheba, whom was the daughter of Amminadab ben Judah(son of Judah), sister to Nahshon ben Amminadab(son of Amminadab), of the tribe of Judah, became the Matriarch of the Kohanim(priests).

The sacred covering of the Ark of The Covenant, which the Kohanim were to give service to on behalf the children of Israel, is called Kapporeth-כפורת , so finding out why the picture placed above, is of what might be known as Khepri, I’ll leave it up to anyone who’s curious enough to take a look for themselves. I would elaborate more on how linguistics also play a part in the understanding of Scripture, but that’s pretty apparent. Though, it may seem, out of context that there could possibly be more connections of the Hebrew/Jewish thought and practice, to the Ancient Egyptian Mysteries or the traditional Judeo-Christian aspects of this, it meets more points of similarity than most people can see. For example, in Hebrew, the Holy of Holies is named as the Kodesh HaKodeshiyimקֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים , and semantically similar in the ancient Ge’ez old Ethiopic language of the Ethiopian-Jews and Ethiopia entirely, the same is called the Q’edeste Q’ddusan-ቀደስተ ቅዱሳን.

II Samuel 6:1 – 7:17

Hebrews 8: 1-6

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, eight days after the ordination or anointing of the Kohani’im (Priesthood), Moses now instructs Aaron to prepare a sin offering of a young bullock , as well as, a burnt offering of a ram and the children of Israel, were instructed to bring a sin offering of one kid from the goats, and a their burnt offering was to be one calf and one lamb, both of the first year, without blemishes.  Another bullock and ram were brought for a peace offering, along with a meat offering mingled with oil before God.

[Lev. 9:1-20]

ki tissa- parsha (anointing the priesthood)

A wave offering was also presented before God, & the people were blessed out of the fire, because of the following of the laws and statutes while serving God in the wilderness.

[Lev. 9:21-24]

Aaron’s sons, Nadab & Abihu, were serving and performing the duties of the Priesthood, but offered a “strange fire” before God, which he had commanded them not to do. This action resulted in their judgment, which came by their deaths by being consumed by fire. Aaron, saw the consequences of the negative choices his own sons made by not staying in line with the Sinaitic Covenant & in line with the Order of the Levites; the statutes established between Israel & God upon Mount Sinai.

[Lev. 10:1-3]

Nadab & Abihu

But, Aaron other sons: Eleazar & Ithamar were grafted into the posts of the Priesthood and taught to conduct themselves in the manners of the ways of God’s covenant.

This portion of the study of the Scriptures, deals with the God’s instruction to Moses, in regards to the sacrifices(Korbanotקורבנות/Q’werbanቍርባን), in categorization.  Moses, addressed Aaron & his sons, [the priesthood] in accordance to the ordinances of the sacrifices.  Aaron & his descendants were to dress themselves in the garments of linen to administer the works within the tabernacle.

tzaw - parsha

The offerings were to be prepared with flour, oil, frankincense and to be burnt upon the altar to God. What was left over was to be eaten by the priesthood with unleavened bread, in the Holy Place of the Mishkan(Tabernacle).

[Lev. 6:14-23]

tzaw - parsha [kohaniim-kahinat-qessoch-qessiim]

After the laws were laid for the foundations of the sacrifices/offerings, Moses was to consecrate his brother Aaron, and his sons(along with ALL his descendants) to be the anointed priesthood, to carry out the works of God for the children of Israel.

tzaw - parsha (cohaniim-kahinat)[qessoch-qessiim]

Moses, and his brother Aaron, carried out all of the instructions given to them by God.  In the wilderness they erected a Tabernacle, to the God that brought them out of bondage with the intent of bringing them to a land set forth for them to inherit.  Aaron’s sons were designated to perform the services of the Tabernacle upkeep, for the children of Israel.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ki-Tiss(h)a-כִּי תִשָּׂא , from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5774 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 14th-יד, & the 15th-טו, of the month of  Adar-אֲדָר . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeQweT’erhachew Gizey-በቈጠርሃችው ጊዜ; on the 7th-፯, & the 8th-፰, of the ወርኀ(month), of  የካቲት(Yekateet). Readings:

Exodus 30: 11-34:35

I Kings 18: 1-39

II Corinthians 3: 1-18

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the men of the children of Israel were to make Atonement for them, and their families.  So, in turn, the atonement that was made by the men of the families could’ve been compared to a sort of census; taking an account for the children of Israel. A half-shekel of silver, was what was known to be used to donate to the sanctuary of Israel.

ki tissa - parsha (half shekel tax)

The finest of spices and of oils, and these were to be taken for an anointing, of the Priesthood. Then the Tabernacle was to be anointed, the Ark of the Covenant, along with all that was in the sanctuary. The Sabbath was to be continually kept, for how the anointing, sanctified the Tabernacle; the Sabbath sanctified them to God.

ki tissa- parsha (anointing the priesthood)

More instruction for the construction of the fixings of the Tabernacle were run down to Moses in the portion of the Scriptures.

Tabernacle Israelites Built(illustration from 1897 Bible Pictures and What They Teach Us by Charles Foster)

The bronze water basin was where the priests (Aaron and his descendants) were to wash before carrying out the duties that were to be done in service of the Tabernacle. Many can draw very close conclusions to how Christ wash the feet of the 12(twelve) disciples on Passover before he was betrayed to this way of service.{Putting Christ, in the seat of a High Priest;  [Order of Melchisedeq]*}. The Anointing Oil was for the priests to be anointed before conducting the service of the ministry and for all the objects of the sanctuary.

ki tissa - parsha (priests water basin)

Moses, then spoke with two chosen to build for Israel, the sanctuaryof the Tabernacle. Betz’alel, of Judah(son of Uri), and Aholiab, of Dan(son of Achiycamakh); would build: the Tabernacle, the Ark, and all the furniture for the sancutuary, along with these: the garments of the priests, also.

ki tissa - parsha (betzalel ben hur and oholiab ben achiysamach)

Moses then, ascends the Mount, that is Sinai, & it would seem to the children of Israel, that he would never return, for he stayed for forty days. But, once he descended, he found that Aaron & the Levites had molted gold together to make a calf that the children of Israel worshiped.

ki tissa - parsha (moses ascends the mount)

But, before Moses could return there were certain ones in and among the children of Israel, convincing Aaron to make a calf of gold which they began to worship, for Moses stayed atop the mountain to the point that some presumed his death.

ki tissa - parsha (the calf of gold)

Moses, then receiving instruction from YHWH, to return to the people for they corrupted themselves with an idol.  Moses, at the moment’s notice tried to intercede upon seeing what the people had done, but waxed hot in anger, & destroyed the tablets of stone with the instructions on the calf of gold.

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Emor- אֱמֹר , for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 16th & 17th of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Bileh N’gerachew- ብለህ ንገራቸው, on the 18th(፲፰) & 19th(፲፱) day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya). The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 21: 1- 24:23

Ezekiel 44: 15-31

I Peter 2: 4-10

So, in the study of the Biblical Scriptures, we have come to the portion of Emor, & in this section of Scripture, Moses receives from God other rules & regulations for the Priesthood of Israel.  In which, the priests were to sanctify themselves to be the priests of Israel to God, they were required to uphold specific standards and codes of decorum & they were to administer certain feasts which were to become memorial statutes for generations to come.

Breastplate 7

In the opening of this study, God outlines more laws and statutes for the Priesthood. The priests of Israel are not defile themselves within or outside of the community Israel. If they(speaking of the priests), are to choose wives, the wives should come from within the community of the priesthood lineage, & the wives also should be sanctified along with the children that should come. The relationships and the walk of the priests should be in-law to the commandments of the God of Israel. [Lev. 21:1- 22:16]

The feast and memorials were told to Moses by God also in this portion of Scripture. Moses is told to instruct the Israelites, especially the priesthood, to proclaim, observe, due diligence to the Holy Days, which were to be set apart as remembrances from generation to generation.
