Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

RRR - prototype (2015-16)

I welcome you all to a new regenartion of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot (or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of the Torah portion with Tazria – תַזְרִיעַ, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5776 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 29th – כט, of the month of Adar – אֲדָר, & on the 1st – א, of the month of Abib(Aviv) – אביב/ Nisan – נִיסָן. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)  From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as B’tárägíz ብታረግዝ, on the 30th – ፴, of the ወርኀ(month) of Megabeet – (መጋቢት), & on the 1st – ፩, of the  of Mïyazya – (ሚያዝያ).  On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez – ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 12:1- 13:59

Ezekiel 45:16 – 46:18

II Kings 4:42- 5:19

John 6:8-13

Matthew 8:1-4

This week for our studies of the Holy Scriptures, we come to the portion of Tazria(Ki-Tazria)/B’taregiz.  Though, it has been recognized and expounded upon, the Bible contains more than religious & spiritual anecdotes, but contains passages that are beneficial for life experiences.

Madonna of Chastrix (Puy-de-Dome, France)

Madonna of Chastrix (Puy-de-Dome, France)

In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the God of Israel, speaks to Moses in the manner of explanation on childbirth. This portion of Scriptures has a defined word that comes to a literal English meaning of…”when she conceives/when she bears a child.”

tazria - parsha (bitaregz)

In motherhood, there are specific functions of the anatomy of woman that closely correspond with process of healing for the woman, who has just become the mother of a child.

tazria - parsha (shabbat imabba)

God explains to Moses the order of actions that should take place upon the birth of children among them.(Hebrews/Israelites)  Tazria, gives a word-sound(interpretation) on the method of recovery for women, who have given birth to a child.

tazria - parsha (she conceives-mother & child)

The Scripture study for this Sabbath lays a foundation for the rest period of a mother who has recently given birth & how things should go about for the retrieval of her strength, physically and mentally; dealing with it from a Hebraic/Israelitish Torah perspective.

Also, in the Scripture portion study the care for the child(after birth) whether male or female are given to the children of Israel, by way of Moses from YHWH.  In this case, the method presented can either be enlightening and show a parallel to “modern world” childbirth…or by the wording, which comes to us in a slew of mistranslation can deter one from looking to the Scriptures to seek some understanding of the universal issues of life.  Specifically for the children of Israel, there were commandments, laws and other stipulations that clearly distinguished them from other peoples of the world.

For example, though there would be no rules of God for the young women born of Israel, mainly because anatomically upon the birth in contrast to the birthing of young men; the mother goes through different experiences.  So, with that said, there are different recovery stipulations between birthing a girl from a boy. (also, the commandment of Circumcision was addressed ONLY to the Hebrew males children, eight days after birth.

[Lev. 12: 2-3])

God also instructed Moses, to teach the children of Israel, the ritual and cultural practices, along with the sacrifices or offerings that were to be made for the ushering of a newborn into the community of Israel.

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, Jethro(Yitro in Hebrew; Yotor in Amharic), Moses’ father-in-law, hears the all that has happened in Egypt. The miracles of Israel’s departure from Egypt, GOD’s guidance through the wilderness, & his help in the defeat of the enemies of the children of Israel.

Now, the children of Israel have sojourned to the dwelling of Moses’ wife(Ts’pporah) and father-in-law’s, land in Midian & pitched camp. Jethro, then advises Moses on structuring the command of the children of Israel into a sort of order of civil officers, after bringing his wife and two sons(Gershom; who’s name has the meaning of “I have been an foreigner in a strange land,” & Eliazar; who’s name has the meaning of, “the GOD of my father, is mine help & delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh”) from Midian to the wilderness.

Jethro, then entreats the GOD of Israel, sighting him as greater then all gods. Then Jethro took a burnt offering and sacrificed to the GOD of Israel, & broke bread with Moses, Aaron, & all the elders of Israel.

Moses, takes heed to his father-in-law’s words, & assembles all the tribes of Israel and appoints heads over them.  These heads(of the tribes) would discern small matters and only bring matters that were of great concern to Moses, to not wear heavy on him, burdens of an entire nation.

Moshe & the 70 elders of Israel

In the third month, of the coming out of Egypt, Israel came to the wilderness of Sinai, from Rephidim. Moses went up the Mount, in the wilderness & GOD spoke to him, calling for Israel to become a nation of priests & a holy nation [Ex. 19:5]

Whenever GOD came to speak to Moses, to lay out instructions for Israel to follow, GOD came in a cloud of fire upon the Mount in Sinai. Moses then, took instructions of GOD to sanctify the children of Israel & to command them not to come near the mountain, for if they did, they would surely be put to death. Man or beast, should not come near the mountain in the wilderness.

The GOD of Israel also gives to Moses and the Israelites, what is known as the Ten Commandments. No one else goes up, upon the mountain to meet GOD but Moses. So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of BaMídbárבְּמִדְבַּר, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel. Also, on the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar of the 5775 year, this Sabbath would be accounted for as the 4th-ד, & the 5th-ה, of the month of Sïw(v)án-סִיוָן. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Mídrä Bädá-ምድረ በዳ, on the 14th-፲፬, & the 15th-፲፭, of the month(ወርኀ) of G’nbot-ግንቦት.  The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Forwarding, in our studies, we’ve come to another book in the Torah.  This study portion has brought us to BaMídbár(translated into English as; Numbers; or Midbar-מִדְבַּר =pasture/open field/desert, & Ba(e’)= בְּ , with Midbar, making the Hebrew word BaMidbar, either meaning, “In the Book of Numbers,” or “In the wilderness“)/the same in the Ethiopian-Amharic language with the word, Midrä Bädáምድረ በዳ= the wilderness”.

After completing the Book of Leviticus, (which by Ras Tafari interpretation, could be known also as the “Livitiy Book“) the over-standing of what encompasses the Leviticus, is the blessing and cursing, by way of the abiding in the laws and commandments set forth for the children of Israel.

Moses & Aaron also received instructions from God, not to number the tribe of Lew(v)i with the rest of the children of Israel.  They were to have a separate responsibility among the people.  Just as they were to administer the duties of priests in Israel, in the Tabernacle, they were to continue in that way.  The tribes were then assembled orderly into an encampment around the Tabernacle.

[Numb. 1:49- 2:34]

In this encampment every tribe would raise a standard(or banner), with an ensign for the tribes.

[Numb. 2: 1-32]

Moses & Aaron, were to also assemble the Tribe of Le(w)i and consecrate them to keep the charge of Aaron(the High Priest), and for the entire congregation of Israel.  They were to keep the instruments of the Tabernacle and perform the service for the congregation.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Behar-בְּהַר, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5774 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the, 9th-ט, & the 10th-י, of the month of Iyar-אִייָר. [“Iyar,” from its Shemitic root is an Akkadian name “Ayarru“- which has a literal meaning in English as “blossom or to blossom“; Iyar is also referred to as “Zi(w)vזיו“= from its Hebrew origin means, “to light or glow“]  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeSina Terara-በሲና ተራራ, on the 1st-፩, & the 2nd-፪, of the month(ወርኀ) of G’nbot-ግንቦት.

Atop, Mount Sinai, God spoke to Moses with instructions for the children of Israel when they were to come into the land that was promised to them.  For example, upon entry into the Land of Promise, an order was to be put into practice for the tilling of the land/earth.

The land was to given rest on the seventh year, just as the Hebrews were to observe the Sabbath on the seventh day perpetually.(from generation-to-generation) This form of agriculture has come to us in the Hebrew word_ Shemittahשמטה (Sabbitical year[Sabbath year] _is a credible translation).  In the year of rest, the farmers, who were of the children of Israel were not to till the land or harvest that of the work of their hands from the crops. The land was to be in a Sabbath year or resting year from plowing and working.  What grew on its own, the children of Israel could partake in, though.

*THIS WEEK’S SABBATH COMES UP TO ANOTHER DOUBLE PORTION OF THE STUDY OF THE SCRIPTURES AS WELL*

–to keep up with an accurate number of the readings of the Torah for the yearly cycle

So, with the portion of BeHár-BeCḥ’ūkōtáï, we will know go into the study of BeCḥ’ūkōtáï-בְּחֻקֹּתַי  , which will be added to this week’s Sabbath in the order of the Hebrew/Judaic cycle readings.  This study comes to us as BeSírâutæy-በሥርዓቴ, from the Ethiopic-Christian perspective.  The Hebrew and Amharic words for this study could be translated into phrases like: “In my order,” or “In my statutes/laws.”

Readings:

Leviticus 26: 3 – 27:34

Jeremiah 16:19 – 17:14

Matthew 21: 33-46

In this literal English meaning, it can be speculated to come to congruency in the phrases of: “in my order/statutes,” or “by my decrees.”  In this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel’s, main concern should’ve been the upkeep of YHWH‘s laws and commandments, which clearly spoken by the God of Israel, would yield abundance, peace, and security.

[Lev. 26: 3-13]

BaDebreh Torah (Parshat Bechu'kotai)

BaDebreh Torah (Parshat Bechu’kotai)

Now, in this study portion of the Scriptures, the children of Israel were instructed by Moses, who was given the Law upon Mount Sinai.  The children of Israel were to keep the commandments, so prosperity would abide with them.  It was assured to the Hebrews that if they were to keep these laws and statutes, then they would yield abundance, peace, and security from God.

Of this covenant, upon Sinai, Israel should’ve received rain in due season, and land that would produce plentifully.  They would reap the benefits of a peaceful harmonious land and none would intimidate them from outside.  Wild beasts would be driven out of the land, along with those who could possibly threaten the tranquility of Israel in their land.  Enemies of Israel would flee, for they would not have the power to stand before Israel to quarrel with them, and if any persisted they would surely fall.  The Tabernacle would continue to reside within Israel & God vowed to be with them always, to love & to be their God.

[Lev. 26: 1-13]

Renewal of Israel

Renewal of Israel

But, if Israel were not to keep the commandments then Judgment was of a surety.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

Obedience to the wills of the good influence of the God of Israel, upon the Hebrews would bring this rain in due season, land that would be plentiful, peace throughout all of the land, none would be able to intimidate them, and enemies would flee from them for they would know that the power of YHWH rested with the children of Israel.

Disobedience, of course, was another story entirely, as obvious as it may or may not seem.  Disobedience would lead the children of Israel into a array of dismay.  Destruction, desolation, drought, disorderly conduct almost without any control of any outcome.  Not to mention the dispersion and disruption of their growing and bustling communities of families.

[Lev. 26: 14-39]

curseofisrael

If Israel were not to keep the commandments then covenant, of course would be annulled.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

The Dispersion into Desolation [Lev. 26: 32-39]

The Dispersion into Desolation [Lev. 26: 32-39]

Israel’s redemption, would only come if the Hebrews were to confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespassing against God’s covenantAcceptance of their faults in bringing God’s wrath upon them; only then would the covenant be remembered, as well as, the people and the land be healed.

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have more than likely have come to the Torah portion of Behar-בְּהַר, for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 23rd & 24th of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeSina Terara-በሲና ተራራ, on the 25th & 26th day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya).

Readings:

Leviticus 25:1- 26:2

Jeremiah 32:6-27

Luke 4:16-21

[SPECIAL NOTES FOR THIS SABBATH]*

For Ras Tafari, globally, this Sabbath should hold a special place in their hearts and minds. The reasoning for this is because in a tri-fold state፡ 1) as Hebrews; they’ll come into the time of the day of rest for the Sabbath time, 2) this Sabbath brings with it the Ethiopian congruency to the Hebraic Passover in what is known as Fasika-ፋሲካ. (…which is more properly known as Tinsa’ey-ትንሣኤ), &, 3) this Ethiopian celebration of the Passion of the Christ, (in Fasika-Tinsa’ey) just so happens to come forth on the date that will be commemorated as ETHIOPIA’S INDEPENDANCE DAY, from Fascist and colonial invasion. (YES I’!!, MAY-DAY, INDEED!)

…more to be presented on this subject at the conclusion of the parsha study…

Now, to the portion of Scripture for this Sabbath…

“Upon the Mountain,”…that mountain between Egypt and Israel. Atop, Mount Sinai, God spoke to Moses with instructions for the children of Israel when they were to come into the land that was promised to them. For example, upon entry into the Land of Promise, an order was to be put into practice for the tilling of the land/earth.

The land was to given rest on the seventh year, just as the Hebrews were to observe the Sabbath on the seventh day perpetually.(from generation-to-generation) This form of agriculture has come to us in the Hebrew word_ Shemittah-שמטה (Sabbitical year[Sabbath year] _is a credible translation).  In the year of rest, the farmers, who were of the children of Israel were not to till the land or harvest that of the work of their hands from the crops. The land was to be in a Sabbath year or resting year from plowing and working.  What grew on its own, the children of Israel could partake in, though. [Lev. 25: 1-7]

A year of Jubilee year was also to be proclaimed by the children of Israel.  Insomuch, as where seven sabbaths in a yearly sense multiplied to an additional seven years(i.e. 49 years) would usher in a year of the Jubilee(a 50th year) to the Hebrews. [Lev. 25: 8-13]

In the year of Jubilee, the trumpet should be sounded on the tenth day of the seventh month(Yom Kippur-Day of Atonement), throughout all the land. Also, in this year every man should be returned to his family. (i.e. debts should be forgiven among the people) [Lev. 25: 9, 10]

[BLOWING OF THE SHOFAR-TRUMPET]*

In the “upkeep,” of all the laws, statutes, and commandments that God told Moses to teach the children of Israel; it was assured to them(the Hebrews) that if they were to keep those laws from generation to generation, they would dwell in the land of promise, in safety, securely. [Lev. 25: 19]

*THIS WEEK’S SABBATH COMES UP TO ANOTHER DOUBLE PORTION OF THE STUDY OF THE SCRIPTURES AS WELL*

–to keep up with an accurate number of the readings of the Torah for the yearly cycle

So, with the portion of Behar-BeKH’ukotai, we will know go into the study of BeKH’ukotai-בְּחֻקֹּתַי  , which will be added to this week’s Sabbath in the order of the Hebrew/Judaic cycle readings.  This study comes to us as BeSir’Autey-በሥርዓቴ, from the Ethiopic-Christian perspective.  The Hebrew and Amharic words for this study could be translated into phrases like: “In my order,” or “In my statutes/laws.”

Renewal of Israel

Renewal of Israel

[Lev. 26: 1-13]

But, if Israel were not to keep the commandments then Judgment was of a surety.  For disobedience, Israel, would endure terror, consumption and constant illness.  They would be scattered among their adversaries.

God would set his face against them & seven times more would they be punished for their iniquities.

Their pride would be broken and they would have no power to stand against their adversaries.  Their strength would be useless and they would be unfruitful in their endeavors.  Even, seven times more would plagues be upon them for their disobedience and beasts would be among them to devour them.

Sanctuaries would be desolate and they would be scattered from end-to-end upon the Earth. Their cities would become waste lands, those left alive would have a faint of heart, would pine at their disposition and the lands from whence they came would desolate. They would even flee when none pursued them. [Lev. 14-39]

Their(the Hebrews') cities and lands would be desolate and turned into wastelands_[Lev. 26: 31, 32]

Only if the children of Israel were to confront their iniquities, and the iniquities of the foreparents which strayed away from God, then he would remember the covenant. [Lev. 26: 40-46]

In the conclusion of this study of this portion for the Sabbath, vows were put into the proper order as well, for the children of Israel.  The order for presentation to God, was aligned by the instruction which laid upon Mount Sinai. [Lev. 27]

*[SPECIAL NOTES]*

I would also like everyone to note that with this Sabbath being apart of Behar, with Mount Sinai as part of the subject, let us remember the relics founds upon this mountain, which still happen to be hidden from the general public, who interpret & correctly put into place their significance.

[A memorial letter for Ethiopia’s Fasika-Tinsa’ey (“Easter”) Celebration]

http://www.freewebs.com/ethiog/ethiopia.htm

The letter written from a Ethiopian recalling the times in Ethiopian for the celebration of Fasika/Tinsa’ey are to be shown for the joy of the “Triumphant Christ.”

Even the Ethiopic-Christian practices of antiquity hold to a Hebraic center, after all, Christ told his disciples to “…go into all nations and preach the Gospel…,” it just so happens that those who heard and sought to do the will of God, by the words of these Apostles, who were Hebrews, became known as “Christians”,….hence what the world knows now as the “Judeo-Christian faith”, theology, logic, or whatever else they tend to try to brand it with.

Christians are Hebrews at heart,”…Dr. Phil Valentine-EL

…Still Need More Proof….? Sheesh!!! Well alright here you go….

As Hebrews/Israelites/Jews bring an end to the Shabbot/Sabbath this evening (May 3rd, 2013-Iyar 23rd), Ethiopian-Christians will be spending the night in a church, (by tradition; if ones participate by ability) to read, study, sing, and prepare for the Resurrection of Christ.  They will light candles just as the candles on the Menorah are lit, but in contrast to the modern Judaism, Ethiopian-Christians will, as we Ras Tafari say; “lively up themselves“, wearing beautifully embroidered garments.  They will sing songs, beat the drums and use sistrums played by Ethiopian priests, nuns, and laymen(everyday people).

IT IS A JOYOUS EVENT, IN SPIRIT & PRACTICE!
