♔ Coronation Day – Nov. 2, 1930 – “Day of the LORD” ♔

Ras Tafari Renaissance commemorates the Coronation & Wedding of His Imperial Majesty & Her Imperial Highness of Ethiopia.  Ras Tafari, holds this days in history as fulfillment of Scripture, & the beginning of the redemption of the children of Israel.

November 2nd, 1930

His/Her Imperial Majesties‘ wedding & ascent to the Ethiopian thrones of heraldy in the Empire, brought about questions and inquiries about Biblical prophecy among many other things.  This intensified curiosity on one point, and knowledge of history also, prophetic fulfillment brought 72 nations to the ceremonies held in Ethiopia, of year 1930.

Emperor Haile Sellassie I’s coronation was a fulfillment of the the 400 year prophecy of the children of Abraham.  (which more specifically was fulfilled at the H.I.M.’s birth [July 23rd, 1892])

[Gen. 15:13]

1492 A.D. – 1892 A.D. = 400 years

edict of expulsion of the moors and jews (moorish spain)

During this period between the years of 1492 until 1892, the children of Abraham, from our research and study here at RRR finds that there was much tribulation. (including the Expulsion from Europe, the Fall of Timbuktu, Sognhay & Ghana, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, etc.)

National Geographic published an issue with the coronation as the cover story and lavished accolades onto the monarch in a way that was unprecedented in talking about Africans. Indeed, many attempts were made by media to discredit Selassie’s “blackness”–after all he was a descendant of King Solomon!

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

RRR - prototype (2015-16)

I welcome you all to a new regenartion of cycle Torah readings!  This is another one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with a willing mind and heart(ready to learn), you will receive more than what you might have asked for, in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, have come to the opening of  the Torah portions with Lecḥ Lecḥá – לֶךְ-לְךָ .  On the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in this year 5776, this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 10th-י , & the 11th-יא, of the month of Cḥeshw(v)an-חֶשְׁוָן, [this Hebraic month is also known as; Mar’Cḥeshw(v)an-מַרְחֶשְׁוָן]for this week, in this mode of study; for those out in the diaspora or outside of Jerusalem/Israel.  (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) &, from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective, in what may be known as the year 2008/2028/7508, on the Ethiopic calendar.  This calculation, with its readings from the Scriptures, would align to the 12th-፲፪, & the 13th-፲፫,  of the (ወርኀ)month of T’Qĭmt-ጥቅምት.  In the Scriptures, this portion of study would also be known as Tӓlӓytӓ Wӓṭăh – ተለይተህ ወጣThe Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Genesis 12:1 – 17:27

Isaiah 40:27 – 41:16

Romans 4: 1-25

Leaving off with descendants of Noah, from the last portion of the Scripture studies, LeKH’ LeKH’a-לֶךְ-לְךָ is the set of readings for this Sabbath.

Abram of Ur, in Chaldea, a descendant of Noah, was spoken to by God.

[Gen. 12:1]

Ur(Chaldea), near the Euphrates & Tigiris rivers.

Abram, was told by God to leave his country and people, in Chaldea.  So Abram, left with Sarai(his wife), and Lot(his nephew) traveled south.  God sought to bless Abram, exceedingly.

[Gen. 12: 2-10]

Gen. 12:2 ; Gen.15:5

Famine in those lands took Abram to Egypt, where passed off his wife, as his sister; for he feared he would be killed because of her beauty, in the sight of the Egyptians.

lech lecha - parsha (abrmcov)

But, because of her beauty Pharaoh sought to entreat her, for he sought to make her a wife of his.  But, his mind was plagued because of Sarai(Abram’s wife).  So much so, that he confronted Abram about the situation and ended up sending on their way peacefully, with quite hefty caravan.

[Gen. 12: 10-20]

Abraham’s Caravan _ painting by James J. Tissot

While in Egypt, Abram and his family acquired very much, in riches.  But, if got to the point where there was strife among them, (within their camps).  Lot(Abram’s nephew) and Abram, consolidated to negotiate not to struggle with each other for there was so much land, that they need not quarrel over anything.

[Gen. 13: 1-12]

But, the men of Sodom, near where Abram had made a place for him cattle, herds, and possessions were a wicked and distasteful people.  Wickedness abounded so much so, to the point that Abram separated himself from among them, at Mamre, in Hebron.

[Gen. 13: 13-18]

The Three Altars of Abraham

War, in those days, between many kings of many nations, brought Sodom & Gomorrah to an expected destruction.

[Gen. 14: 1-24]

Melchizedeq

Fortunately, Abram was able to bring Lot out, just before meeting Melchizedek; the king of Salem.

Santa Pollinare Mosaic - Order of Melchizedek

Abram, was then blessed by God, in that by his wife Sarai, who was barren, would give birth to a son. (even in their old age)  Abram was given vision by God, that his seed would be innumerable, for he would be the father of many nations.  God instructed Abram, to make offerings, he did it & guarded it.

[Gen. 15: 1-11]

lech lecha - parsha [Tissot_Abram_Guarding_His_Sacrifice]

Then Abram had visions of the future generations of his to come.

[Gen. 15: 12-21]

Sarai, feeling as though she had been restrained by God from bearing any children, gave Abram, her maid, Hagar(Agar), who was an Egyptian, in attempt beget children of AbramHagar, conceived of Abram, but saw Sarai, differently afterwards. (by contempt)  Sarai, then feeling as though she brought about strife in Abram‘s house, she brought the plight to Abram, and wanted Abram to put her away.  God, complied because he sought to make the child of Hagar & Abram, a mighty nations of his own. (his name would be Ishmael)

[Gen. 16: 1-16]

Hagar & Isma'il (ibn Ibrahim)

Between Abram & God, was a covenant made: for he would the father of many nations, and be fruitful exceedingly, kings would be from him, the land between the two rivers would be of his possession, & the land of Canaan would be for an everlasting possession, his seed shall circumcise their flesh(males); also he & his wife would have new names.  Instead of Abram, his name would be Abraham & instead of Sarai, her name would be Sarah.

Abraham would also have a son, which he would name Isaac, his son Ishmael would grow to be a mighty nation.

[Gen. 17: 1-21]

And, these were the facets that made up, what is known as the Abraham Covenant

This is Lidj Yefdi, wishing everyone a very blessed recogition of Hoshana!
This Hebraic celebration culminates the appointed time of the High Holy days congruent with Sukkot.
The final day of Sukkot brings us to Hoshanna Raba.  Hoshanna Raba, is the commemoration of the “Supplication,” or the “Divine Judgment.”

Orthodox Jews, and other Chassidic sects gather for a special service.  In this special service the participants make seven (7) circuits in ritual, around the synagogue with their made lula(b)v & etrons.  (*symbolic of Sukkot)

In variating sects, the Shofar(or the trumpet) is sounded after every circuit is made.  The Torah scrolls are taken out of the made Arks on this commemoration day as well.  Reasoning behind these ritualistic principles is recognizing the “Final Judgment” in the last days from the initiation of the seasonal appointed times. (Hebraic holidays)*

hebrew-calendar-months-and-feast-cycle

Judgment , in doctrine of the European Jewish theory, for the new year is sealed on Yom Kippur but, not delivered until Hoshanna.  These teachings come from the original interpretation of the celebration, and memorials of the Hebrew people, especially from the time of the 2nd Temple of Jerusalem.

In the Midrash, there is also another application containing the willow.  “The “Day of the Willow,” when on the seventh day, traditionally participants in Hoshanna Raba take a willow and have it present with the other “4 Species” or “4 Kinds”.  (of the symbols from Sukkot)*

Sukkot-4species

Now, from an Ethiopic perspective and a Christian one, Hosanna (Hoshanna) takes on a bit a different interpretation.  But, repentance is most certainly a theme echoed in it as well.  But, also with that repentance is the recognition of the significance of Christ. of course.  Christ rode into Jerusalem on the back of donkey(ass) with the Disciples and the palms, were carried by all of the people.  Very significant when you are able to compare this from Scripture to the practices and tradtions of the Jewish and Hebrew people celebration Hoshanna.

Welcome, once again, to another posting here at Ras Tafari Renaissance!  On this post, the subject which we intend to cover is ushering in Hebrew Observances, that should be relevant and incorporated into the Ras Tafari consciousness.

Since the inception of Ras Tafari it has been clear that the Ras Tafarians proclaim ancestral heritage with Hebraic peoples of antiquity.  Sharing ancestry with the Imperial House of David’s, Solomonic Dynasty, in Ethiopia; by way of King Solomon & the Queen of Sheba.  With that said, seeing how Ethiopia has become the ONLY Christian church upholding its Hebraic traditions intact, it should hold a critical place in the Ras Tafari faithful and those alike’s minds to adhere to original Christian and Hebraic practices.

Hebrew-Feasts

So, in this post we here at Ras Tafari Renaissance would like to put forward, that all that continue to, and are maybe, just checking out this site for the first time on notice.  In the continuance of bringing you all, Ras Tafari interpretations of the Scriptures from a Bible-based foundation, we’ll also bring about the basics of over-standing Hebraic Observances/Holidays/Holy Days, and build on that foundation.

yamim noraiim - 10 days of awe - (aseret yamei teshuba)

As the Hebraic civil year comes to a close [5775 H.C.] from ancient ways of time-keeping to the more modern ways, Ras Tafari Renaissance comes to the Hebraic New Year [5776 H.C.], with the anticipation of bringing the blog viewers into a deeper understanding of what is being produced here on this site.  Bringing more of the Hebrew and Amharic languages, into comprehension and use.

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

432_417386508351927_1732265329_n

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ki-Tá(b)vō-כִּי-תָבוֹא, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 20th-כ, & the 21st-כא,  day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, BeGäbáh’m Gïzæy – በገባህም ጊዜ.  This would calculate as the 29th-፳፱, & the 30th-፴, of the month(ወርኀ) of Nähâsé-ነሐሴ.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:1 – 29:8

Isaiah 60: 1-20

Ephesians 1: 3-6

Revelation 21: 10-27

This study portion of the Scriptures, deals with the children of Israel, in what order they should follow upon entering into the Land, which God had promised their foreparents.

THIS SABBATH STUDY PORTION, LAYS OUT EXACTLY HOW THE HEBREW PEOPLE WOULD BE BLESSED; ALBEIT, THEY KEPT & TOOK HEED OF THE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD; OR CURSED, IF THEY WERE TO TURN AWAY FROM WHAT THEY WERE MOSES HAD TAUGHT THEM; BY WAY OF GOD’S WORD.

Blessings-Curses

So, the children of Israel were to present the firstfruits(or the first portions of their harvests) of the land to the priests, and the priests were to present these firstfruits upon the altar; giving thanks & praise to God, because while in bondage/servitude the children of Israel, sewed seeds but did not reap the benefits of their labor. (for they’d worked to satisfy the needs wants of others)  In the Land of Promise, the children of Israel were at the liberty to sew their seeds with gladness and joy, keeping to the ways they were taught out of the Law of Moses.

[Deut. 26: 1-11]

ki tabo-parsha (first fruits)

Tithing: For the children of Israel, the third year, was when it would acceptable for them to give a tenth of all their harvests, appropriated to the: Levitical-Priesthood, the strangers/guests/foreigners (interpreted from the Ancient Languages of the Scriptures) which would be living among the children of Israel, along with the fatherless (or the orphaned), & the widowed.  This kind of tithing would be a testament to the children of Israel being the chosen, peculiar people (vrs.19) upon the face of the Earth, that within their gates which God had provided/promised to them, they would most certainly seek to feed, clothe & shelter.

[Deut. 26: 12-19]

ki tabo-parsha (tithes) Malachi

Moses, and the elders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, then charged the Hebrew people to keep all of the commandments, laws and statutes which were set out for them; and upon crossing over the river Jordan into the Land of Promise, on Mount Ebal-(ጌባል ተራራ/הר עיבל‎), the children of Israel were build an altar with whole stones to God-writing the Law(Torah) on these great stones.  This mountain was to be a mountain where peace offerings were to be made to God.

[Deut. 27: 1-8]

ki tab(v)o - parsha

Now, with this ordination, there then came the two mountains.  Moses & the Levites spoke to the Hebrew people, explaining that upon these works, the children of Israel should take heed to themselves, for they were to become the people of God; pending, they would harken to his laws.

ki tab(v)o - bible-archeology-altar-of-joshua-amphitheater-between-mt-gerizim-ebal

Moses then said, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim(ገሪዛን ተራራ/הר גּרזים) to bless the people: Simeon, Levi , Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin:

(verse 12) And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse the people: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulon, Dan, and Naphtali.

(verse 13)

From there, the Levites, then laid out the a proclamation of the curses, for those who would turn away from the law.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Re’eh-רְאֵה, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 29th-כט, & the 30th-ל, of the month of Ab(v)אָב‎.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Inähō-እነሆ.  This would calculate as the 7th-፯, & the 8th-፰, of the month of Nähâsé-ነሐሴ .  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

roshkhodesh

In this study portion of the Scriptures, we’ve come Re’eh(רְאֵה), which in the Hebrew language means “to see.”  In the Amharic language, the word used as an equivalent for the name of this parsha is more properly…would be; Ra’iy-ራእይ.  Theses words in the ancient tongues divulge the meanings: “to see,” “have a vision,” “behold,” or “make sight of.”

wadjet & nekhbet (two eyes of Horus)

This portion of our reading, in the Book of Deuteronomy, begins on verse 26, where Moses is continuing to instruct the children of Israel, in the ways of God’s statutes, laws, and commandments; especially for the entry into the Land of Promise.  Causing these instructions to become known among all Israel, whereas it would be well with them.  God told Moses, to teach the children of Israel these lessons, for Moses explained that God had set a Blessing & a Curse before them.  Following the ways of God would render blessings upon them, and turning away would bring curse upon them.  The children of Israel, were clearly free to choose.

[Deut. 11: 26-32]

blessing and the curse

The conditions of the blessing in the land, for the children of Israel were also given by Moses, from God.  The children of Israel were to observe, and do the will of God for it would determine the prosperity of their dwelling in the land.  The laws, statutes, and commandments were laid out so the children of Israel, would teach them to their children for God’s laws and covenant with Israel would be an everlasting covenant; given they take heed of themselves.

[Deut. 12]

wolves-in-sheep-clothing(false prophets)

Now, knowing that they were given the chance to choose; the children of Israel, were to also recognize that it would be necessary to know wherein they were to discern between choices.  The children of Israel were warned to be wary of prophets or dreamers of dreams that would arise among them, and to take precaution that their signs and their wonders, would not lead them away from the ways of God’s commandments.

[Deut. 13]

shabuot-festival of weeks6

Then, the ordination for what would become known as Kashrut-כַּשְׁרוּת , or Kosher-כָּשֵׁר , among the Jewish people of today’s society.  But from its roots in the Hebrew language , it is the laws of God, to the Hebrew people, showing what would be “fit” for consumption; concerning food.

[Deut. 14]

pesach9

Now, in dealing with servants: those of the inheritance and those of foreign origin there was, of course, a protocol for the children of Israel, as well.  The Hebrew servant was to be absolved from his Hebrew creditor, in the “Sabbath yearShemittah” or the 7th year.  But, it would be up to the Hebrew creditor to absolve a debt from a foreigner or one not of the origin of the Hebrew people.  God sought that none should be poor among Israel, so in this act, the children of Israel would contribute to their own prosperity in another form.

[Deut. 15]

sukkot

“…for the LORD thy God blessed thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend to many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee…”[Deut. 15: v6]

The children of Israel received what is known now, as the significance of the Shalosh Regaliim, or the three Feasts of YHWH.

We begin the second reading of the Book of Deuteronomy, with Moses pleading with God for a chance to see the Land of Promise.  For his disobedience to God at the Rock and Waters of Meribah, where Moses struck the rock instead of sanctifying his name (name of YHWH) in the sight of the children of Israel; God told Moses, he would not enter into the Promised Land; but he would be gathered to his people along with the generation of the wandering in the wilderness.  (Wa’etcḥanan-“& I Pleaded“)

“& I pleaded/besought” _ referenced from [Deut. 3:23]

Moses knowing that though God favored him in grace, he was still displeased with the Striking of the Rock at the Waters of Meribah.  For his disobedience and the disobedience of the children of Israel that came out of Egypt, during the “Exodus,” he remembers that God said that he, along with that generation would not enter into the Promised Land.

[Deut. 3: 23-27 ]

God, instead allows Moses to go up atop Pisgah, & view the land, but God also instructs Moses to encourage Joshua, because he shall lead the children of Israel in to the land.

Moses was also instructed by God to stress the emphasis on keeping God’s laws, statutes, commandments, & judgments that they were taught.  The children of Israel were to hearken to those laws & teach them to their children, also to the following generations.  The children of Israel were to never turn to worship, or the works of the hands(or idols).

[Deut. 4: 1-22]

The children of Israel were instructed to heed of the covenant with God, which they received at Mount Sinai.  Failure to do so would result in the punishments or judgments, for disobedience. (ie; the scattering of the people among many other nations, and serving idol gods, etc.{Duet. 4: 27 & 28})

[Deut. 4: 23-40]

Deut. 4: 26-31 (...the LORD will scatter you among the nations...)

Moses, then set up the Cities of Refuge, which God had command bet put in place.  So, Moses severed three cities: Bezer, in the wilderness, Ramoth, in Gilead, & Golan, in Bashan.

[Deut. 4: 41-49]

w(v)aetchanan - parsha (cities of refuge to Reuben-Gad-Menasseh)deut.4.vrs41-49

& Moses also reminded the children of Israel of the covenant, which God made with them, while they were at the mountain of Sinai.  Whereas, the Decalogue was iterated to them as apart of the laws, statutes, commandments and judgments, they were to keep & teach to the following generations.

[Deut. 5]

All the laws, statutes, commandments and judgments of God, were the children of Israel to learn, & teach to their children.  Even the Word of Witness(or the Shem’a), they were to hear, observe & do; that it would be well with the, and that they would increase in the Land of Promise.

[Deut. 6]

& with the Word of Witness, the children of Israel were given, they were also instructed to love God with all their heart, soul, & strength(might). [Christ says; heart, soul, mind & strength (Mk. 12: 30)]  & they were to love their neighbors, as themselves, having these words not only come from their mouths, but be in their hearts.

[Deut. 6: 1-6]

Deuteronomy 6: 7 & 8

When the children of Israel were to come into the land, keeping all of the laws, statutes, commandments, & judgments of God; they were to drive out nations like; the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, & the Jebusites from among them.  The children of Israel were to have dealings with them, as well.

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Deb(v)ârïm-דְּבָרִים, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775 year, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 8th-ח, & the 9th-ט, of the month of Ab(v)-אָב.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Ye’Nägärâchäw Q’ál Yíhí Näw-የነገራችሁ ቃል ይህ ነው.  This would calculate as the 17th-፲፯, & the 18th-፲፰, of the month(ወርኀ) of Ḥamlé-ሐምሌ.  The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Deuteronomy 1:1- 3:22

Isaiah 1: 1-27

Acts 9: 1-21

I Timothy 3: 1-7

We’ve come, to the final book of the Torah.  So, we begin this last book of the Scriptures with the words of Moses, as he speak to the children of Israel.

In the portion of the scriptures Moses, begins to tell the children of Israel, their story which they have lived out since the “Exodus.”(or exit/coming out of Egypt & the wandering in the wilderness)

debarim - parsha2

On the eastern side of the Jordan river, in the plains, Moses spoke on a number of subjects.  Including: the kings of the lands, which sought the destruction of the children of Israel, & how God spoke to him, instructing him to lead the Israel, onward.

Moses, spoke to the children of Israel on how God, blessed & multiplied their numbers, while travailing through the toils of the journey in the wilderness.  He also mentioned how the appointing of the judges(captains, princes/chiefs) of Israel was a significant moment for the children of Israel, seeing as how Moses’, father-in-law, Jethro saw that Moses discerned matters of concern among all of Israel, alone.  From that moment on, Jethro advised Moses by the grace of God, to appoint heads of each tribe, to handle certain matters within certain subjects & to bring the matters of great concern to Moses; for he would be consulted of God on the greater issues of concern for Israel.

[Deut. 1: 9-18]

The murmuring disobedience of the children of Israel, which led to the seemingly endless wandering in the wilderness, was also a topic of discussion from Moses, to the Israelites/Hebrews.

Jethro & Moses

Even with the power of God working in & through, the children of Israel, there were always those that failed to yield to the Word(John 1:1), but God kept Israel, through; upholding the covenants* to the Israel’s forefathers.  Though, from generation-to-generation some had wavered; the promise was Israel’s to keep. (ie. the generations of Caleb ben Jephunneh & Joshua ben Nun)*

While in the wilderness, the children of Israel, encounter many peoples not of their patterns of living.  So, in attempting to peacefully go about their way, the children of Israel, experience strife from others, who seek to send them into disarray.  (for example: the Moabites, Amorites, Midianites, etc…)

[Deut. 2: 1-9 (Moabites)]; [Deut. 2: 10-15 (children of Anak)];

[Deut. 2: 16-23 (Ammonites)]; [Deut. 2: 24-37 (Amorites)]

yitro - parsha [st-moses-the-ethiopian-in-the-temple-raymond-walker]

Even to the king of Bashan, with the battle of Edrei, did the children of Israel triumph in the wilderness over their adversaries.  Upon victory, the children of Israel, gained the lands, cattle, and many other possessions of their enemies and divided all among themselves; so that none of them would want for anything. However, the children of tribes of Reuben, & Gad appealed to Moses and the Princes of Israel for land adequate for the large amounts of cattle they now possessed.  The children of the half-tribe of Manasseh, also laid hold to their inheritance, by way of the Daughters of Zelophehad, who plead for their father’s portion among his brethren.

(for he had no son, to possess his holdings; so be it the Law was made fit for the Daughters, whom were not married, but were bound by lineage to Israel.)

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ph(F)ïncḥasפִּינְחָס, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5775, this Sabbath day would probably be accounted for as the 24th-כד, & the 25th-כה, of the month of Támmuz-תמוז.  (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Feenḥas-ፊንሐስ.  This would calculate as the 3rd-፫, & the 4th-፬, of the month(ወርኀ) of Ḥämlé-ሐምሌ.

Romans 11: 2-32

In this study, we continue in the accordance to the last portion.(Balak)  After what had become the Heresy of Baal-Peor, Phineas, the son of Eleazar, and the grandson of Aaron(Moses’ brother), lead in a moments notice, with zealot acts.

Pinchas ben-Eleazar (Phineas, the son of Eleazar; grandson of Aaron); Tribe of Lew[v]i

Pinchas ben-Eleazar (Phineas, the son of Eleazar; grandson of Aaron); Tribe of Lew[v]i _ accredited to Mr. John L. Johnson‘s work, the Black Biblical Heritage.

Phineas, in which this parsha study is named, from the Hebrew and the Ethiopic Amharic, had slain a Midianitish woman, who’s name was Cozbi, and a Simeonite prince of Israel; who’s name was Zimri.   These two, along with many others partook in the turning away from God, in the sin of Baal-Peor.  Phineas, had stood up for Israel, turning God’s wrath away from them because of his zealousy and understanding of the covenant that was to be kept, between Israel & YHWH.

So, in a sense, because Phineas was willing to give his all to his God & for his people; seeing as how the Moabites and Midianites had conspired against Israel to bring them out of the favor of God; Phineas even went to the extent of going to war for God and them(children of Israel).  Phineas’ actions coupled with his faith as well, opened the door in which God gave a Covenant of Peace.  He and his those of his lineage would partake in it, continuing the Priesthood, among the lineage of Aaron(Moses’ brother).

Moses, was then instructed by God to take an account(census), for the second time, of the children of Israel, by family(or tribal lineage). [other census was taken in Numbers Chpt. 1: 1-16]

Because, of the waywardness of Israel’s faithfulness to God, their numbers dwindled and grew in spurts, while in the wilderness.  (ie. the Golden Calf, the Rebellion of Korah, and at this point; post- the Heresy of Baal-Peor…not forgetting the other instances withing Israel while in the wilderness)  So, Moses was instructed to take Eleazar, the High Priest(son of Aaron; father of Phineas), and number the children of Israel, once again, for God had said the because of the disobedience of this people, they should not enter into my rest.  But the children that would come after them would partake in the covenant, made the Abraham, Isaac & Jacob; albeit that those children of the generation of the Exodus from Egypt, would uphold the covenant and abide by the laws, commandments and statutes of God.

[Numb. 26: 1-51]

balak - parsha [land of canaan before conquest]

The children of Israel, were numbered by their tribal lineages, for the second time, by Moses and Eleazar; for God was preparing to bring the children of the Israelites, who made the Exodus from Egypt to the wilderness; into the Land that was Promised.

[Numb. 26: 52-65]

Twelve Tribes of Israel; Land of Canaan, divided inheritance for the Tribes of Israel.

Twelve Tribes of Israel; Land of Canaan, divided inheritance for the Tribes of Israel.

At this point, when the children of Israel, were receiving their plots and inheritances of the land, the Daughters of Zelophehad, came to Moses and the congregation in attempt to procure, the inheritance due to their father, who had passed & had no son pass his lineage to; for he(Zelophehad) had five daughters.  Usually, the children of Israel made it customary for the son to inherit the lot of his father’s.

Moses, in sincerity, took the Daughters of Zelophehad’s case to God, & God explained to Moses that though the children of Israel kept customary morals, the Daughters of Zelophehad had a very probable case.  God instructed to grant the daughters the plot that was to be allotted to their father, had he bear a son, whom would carry on his lineage among Israel.  From then on, it would not be a question whether or not a man bear a son to inherit his plot; because, the laws for possessing an inheritance from one parents among Israel, would not only come as a responsibility to the male children among Israel, but the responsibility would also come to the daughters, as well.

(Zelophehad; inheritance led to Manessah, son of Joseph)

God then spoke to Moses, saying, go up to Mount Abarim, and see the land which will give to the children of Israel, to dwell.  Moses, could view the land from afar, but he couldn’t enter in, because of his disobedience at the waters of Meribah, in Kadesh(when Moses struck the ROCK); so Moses would be gathered to his people, along with the generation that wandered in the wilderness.

[Numb. 27: 12-14]

Moses, spoke to God, atop Mount Abarim, requesting that he appoint the children of Israel, another who would succeed him in leading the Israel into the Promised Land.

There God said to Moses, that Joshua, the son of Nun, should succeed him, in leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land.  Moses was to take Joshua, in front of Eleazar, the High Priest, and before the congregation of all the Hebrews to give him the charge & honour in the place of himself.(Moses)
