The Battle of Adwa – (March 1, 1896) – አድዋ

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

RRR - prototype (2015-16)

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the Ethiopian commemoration of the Battle of Adwa.  A history changing event that shocked the world to its core.  At the time of the Battle of Adwa, the African continent was nearly colonized at every angle. due to to the “Scramble for Africa“.  The only two countries that hadn’t been colonized by European countries were Ethiopia & Liberia.  But even with all of this in the forefront, Ethiopia had defended itself well against Italian forces; saving the whole of Africa from total colonization.

The valiance of the Ethiopian people, in defense of their country, became a phenomenal example of unity, belief, heritage, & pride.  The Ethiopian people; men, women, & children, in some cases, banded together the banner of the Ethiopian flag: red, gold, & green to put aside their differences in ethnic origin, tribe, religion etc., to secure a future that would include all of them, on their own land.

The Treaty of Addis Ababa, formally brought an end to the First Italo-Ethiopian War, (in which the Battle of Adwa, was the pinnacle) whereas Italy officially recognized Ethiopia as a independant and sovereign state.  This treaty has been said to be a secret agreement, for more than scholars’ obvious reasons as Italy would eventually attempt to colonize Ethiopia again, in the coming Second Italo-Ethiopian War. May Day – Independence Day – 05/05/1941′ (Imperial Ethiopia)

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the on the Imperial Ethiopian Independence day commemoration.  Imperial Ethiopia, should be the parallel path that any Ras Tafarian should look to walk(trod).  His Imperial Majesty Haile Sellassie I and Her Imperial Majesty Menen Asfaw, showed the poise of ice cubes, while their country was yet, cleverly planned on being relieved of his(Haile Sellassie I’s) guidance, by unnatural powers.  But, by the impeccable strategy, honesty, courage, & just cause-and-effect action….Ethiopia, has remained an Unconquerable Land to the colonist regime, to this date.  So, here on 5th of May, Imperial Ethiopian celebrates its Independence as a memorial, and triumph over the Fascist, & colonial ex-ruling powers.

On 5 May 1941, exactly five years after Addis Ababa fell to Mussolini‘s troops, Emperor Haile Selassie was re-installed on the Ethiopian throne. He reentered the city through streets lined with black and white soldiers, having fought his way back against a determined Italian army with Major Orde Wingate’s Gideon Force and his own Ethiopian ‘Patriots”.

Haile Sellassie I, had made an impassioned appeal to the League of Nations on 30 June 1936, which gained great support with the United States and Russia. However, many other League of Nations members, especially Britain and France, continued to recognize the Italian possession of Ethiopia.

In 1935 Italian soldiers commanded by Marshal Emilio De Bono invaded Ethiopia in what is known as the Second Italo-Abyssinian War. The war lasted seven months before an Italian victory was declared. The invasion was condemned by theLeague of Nations, though not much was done to end the hostility.

During the conflict, Italy used mustard gas, ignoring the Geneva Protocol that it had signed seven years earlier. The Italian military dropped mustard gas in bombs, sprayed it from airplanes, and spread it in powdered form on the ground. 150,000 chemical casualties were reported, mostly from mustard gas. In the aftermath of the war Italy annexed Ethiopia, uniting it with Italy’s other colonies in eastern Africa to form the new colony of Italian East Africa, and Vittorio Emmanuel III adopted the title “Emperor of Abyssinia.”

On 10 June 1940, Italy declared war on the United Kingdom and France, as France was in the process of being conquered by Germany at the time and Benito Mussolini wished to expand Italy’s colonial holdings. An Italian invasion of British Somaliland, in August 1940 was successful, but the war turned against Italy afterward. Haile Sellassie I returned to Ethiopia from England to help rally the resistance. The British began their own invasion in January 1941, and the last organized Italian resistance in Italian East Africa surrendered in November 1941. The British restored Ethiopia’s independence.

In a memorial attitude Ras Tafari Renaissance recognizes the Special emissary sent to Black America, by the King of Kings of Ethiopia.  Dr. Melaku Emmanuel Bayen, a physician, and member of the Imperial Ethiopian royal family attended Muskingum University(Muskingum College), Columbus State University, & finally Howard University for his graduate studies; during that time becoming the first native Ethiopian to receive a college degree from an American university.  Bayen also started the Ethiopian World Federation in NYC (1937), and had an emphatic influence on the African diaspora globally.

Ras Tafari Renaissance writes to give perspective to the Hebraic remembrance of the Passover.  In modern Judaism, it is known by the Hebrew term as Pesach-פֶּסַח.  Jewish traditions celebrate the liberation from slavery in Egypt approx., 3,300 yrs ago by God; during the time of the Pharaohs, and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of.  But, from the Ethiopian-Hebraic perspective, the liberation came from within a spiritual, socio-political,  and religious viewpoints between Northern Egypt(Lower Egypt) & Southern Egypt(Upper Egypt).

Passover is considered apart of the Shalosh Regalim, or the main festivals of Israel‘s commemoration to God.  The day commences on the afternoon of the Hebraic, 14th of the month of Nisan. [the Three Pilgrimage feast/festivals]

Passover commemorates the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Passover begins on the 15th day of the month of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, which is in spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and is celebrated for seven or eight days. It is one of the most widely observed Jewish holidays.

The Israelites were instructed to mark the doorposts of their homes with the blood of a slaughtered spring lamb (“pascal lamb“) and, upon seeing this, the spirit of the Lord knew to pass-over the first-born in these homes, hence the English name of the holiday.

Selam/Shalom(peace) to you all,

I, Yohannis, am’ writing all of you because I have admired the talents, skills, development of the “self” that you all have displayed from time-to-time here on this platform as well as, other outlets.  I also write to present an opportunity not for instant gratification as many info-mercials or prosperity preachers would present to you; but in hopes to enhance the desire of collective organization, assistance, heritage appreciation, & . I think its safe to say that we all have an affinity to Ethiopia(& or Africa; as a whole) & if I’am mistaken please, feel free to disregard this message or excuse yourself from the group message. But, if you do find what I have said so far to be interesting,….read on?! It has been brought to my attention the importance of a collective effort; when communication is unclear the goals of any project are destined to fall short of its target, which is success.

So keeping to that theme, we recognize the works of the faithful, and determined; but still seek to gain more grounds moving forward.  Thank you for all that you do to better the society, the legacy, and the Kingdom of His/Her Imperial Majesty Qedamawi Haile Sellassie and Qedamawit Menen Asfaw.

Our Ras Tafari culture & heritage, gives us a discipline to follow so that we retain, our ancestry, spiritually, mentally & physically.  In continuing our studies and bringing about a progressive consciousness, we here at RRR intend to bring about the education and mores of a commendable community acceptable to its Supreme Being and not deviating from the original or true intent of its humble beginnings.  Staying in the lines of that context and adding onto the elements that make up the Ras Tafari collective mentality of the connectivity of this “way of life” that reflects the combination of religious ideals, community accountability, and reaffirmation reinforcement.

Going forward, we continue our studies in the examination of the original historical events of the past which have been tied to religious tradition, we’ve come now to the celebration of the Cḥănūkăh.

chanukah

Contrary to the many modern interpretations of this Mōedïm(Appointed Time/Holiday/Holy Day), Ch’anukkah is NOT a western ideological equivalent to “Christmas.”  Throughout the many centuries that have passed since the actual happenings of this significant event, there have been modifications to the recognition of this event.  But, in going bit deeper than what is presented on the surface of available information spread throughout the world today, we find Ch’anukkah to be a shining example and lesson of the struggle for survival of the Hebraic culture & faith.

The Seleucid Empire was established during the time of Alexander the “Great.”  His infantry general, Seleucus I Nicantor, was whom the Empire of the Near East gets its name sake from established tributary dominions in accordance to the Hellenistic Greco period.

During the reign of Alexander the Great, his armies conquered Syria, Egypt and Palestine, but allowed the lands under his control to continue observing their own religions and retain a certain degree of autonomy. Under this relatively benevolent rule, many Hebraic-Judeans assimilated much of Hellenistic culture(Greek), adopting the language, the customs and the dress of the Greeks, in ways like many immigrants adopt to the country of their newly found domicile upon settlement.

More than a century later, one of the four successors of Alexander, Antiochus IV was in control of that region. He began to oppress the Israelites of the region severely, placing a Hellenistic priest in the Temple of Jerusalem, massacring them, prohibiting the practice of the faith as they had centuries before, and desecrating the Temple by requiring the sacrifice not acceptable by the law of YHWH (Hebraic God) taught by Moses on the altar.

chanukah11

This led to outrage for the utter disregard and attempted humiliation of the Israelites of the region.  Two groups then arose and opposed Antiochus: simply a  nationalistic group led by Mattathias the Hasmonean, and his son Judah Maccabee(“the Hammer“), and a religious traditionalist group of that time known as the Chasidim/Chasideans, some interpret them as being the proceeding to the Pharisees (no direct connection to the modern movement known as Chasidic Judaism or Chasidim). The two groups joined into what would be known as the Maccabean Revolt (16 against both the assimilation of the Hellenistic Jews and oppression by the Seleucid Greek government. The revolution succeeded and the Temple was in so many words re- consecration.

So, in summation of the events that brought about the commemoration of the Moedim(Hebraically) of the recognition of Ch’anukkah; it is the cognitive celebration over the victory of the religious, traditional, & heritage keepers over the internal subtle subversion, and the external threats of dominance.

“I Have Set Before You, Life & Death” _ Deut. 30: 15;19

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

RRR 2014-15 front pg

I welcome you all to yet another post here at Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations.

Enduring the test of faith, we seek to move forward and continue to present the audience, who may check out the things being displayed here, with sincerity.  The sign of the times gives ones of many specific regions and mindsets a unique set of perspectives.  These perspectives coming from various ares of study and geographical areas, all seeming to have a universal underlying theme; screaming things to the effect of, “truth,” being “forthright,” so on & so forth…

With that said, we’ve come to write about the the misappropriation of the so-called “reason for the season.”  This being a Shemittah year or(Jubilee) from a Hebraic tradition and cultural perspective; the acknowledgments of ancient wisdom is crucial.

The time and seasons through ancient knowledge perceived the patterns of many things among the Earth’s cycles.  Improving their theories with detailed attention and scrutiny of nature many had come to similar conclusions; even if by varying point of views.

Martin Luther shouldered a Reformation in Europe, which had adverse effect on the signs of the times, or so to speak during the Medieval period.

Along with Martin Luther the “Reformer,” there were many others brave souls who dared to oppose the naysaying establishments of their times.  Souls like: William Tydale, a highly skilled translator of the Holy Bible (more specifically the Hebrew and Greek texts), John Wycliffe, and Thomas Cranmer. (also too many others too name without leaving one out…) _

We here at Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations show our honor and just do credit for the sacrifices of these individuals.  These valiant individuals who sought to bring about the truth and essence of the Scriptures; even in the face of extreme adversity.
WE SALUTE THEM, ALL!!!

For the spirits of perdition shall be lurking about, even among the simple minds of many people during the next few days.  But, of course, we write to all who know not what to make of these so-called “fun” times; for some people.  nearly all of the festivities and celebrations which are collectively thought of as “Halloween” practices are less than a century old.

fun - etymology

Over-stand that there is always more to a story than meets the eye.

After all, Martin Luther hung his “95 Thesis” on October 31, 1517.
