Ras Tafari Renaissance brings another posting for the Moed’im(holy day/holiday);

spelled various ways:

Tẓōm Gedaliah, Gadaliah, or Gadalyah

is a Hebraic fast, observed on one day(3rd day of Tisrei) from dawn until dust to lament the assassination of the righteous governor of Judah,(whom was appointed by King Nebuchadnezzar, governor of the Yehud province of the Babylonian Empire) whose murder ended Hebraic[moreso Judæn rule (ie. House of David)]  autonomy following the destruction of the First Temple of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Temples 2 (Solomon and Herod)

http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fall_Holidays/Tzom_Gedaliah/tzom_gedaliah.html

After the destruction of the First Temple (and Jerusalem) by the armies of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE, the majority of the Jews who had lived in the land of Judah were exiled. However a remnant was permitted to remain. Nebuchadnezzar appointed a man named Gedaliah (Gedalyahu ben-Achikam_גֶּדַליָהוּ בֵּן [פַּשׁחוּר] אֲחִיקָם ) to be his governor over Judah.

As one of the Hebrew minor fasts, Tẓōm Gedaliah begins at dawn (first light) and ends at nightfall (full dark).  Gedaliah’s father, Acḥïkam saved the life of the prophet Jeremiah, [Jer. 26: 24] & Gedaliah would have a similar fate but in a broader sense, as the “remnant” of Judah would become his responsibility.

Tẓōm Gedaliah occurs on Tishri 3 (according to the Babylonian Talmud, the date calculated approx., as to when Gedaliah was murdered [tractate Rosh HaShanah 18b]), the day following (the second day of) Rosh HaShana.

babylonian talmud

For those who participate during the fast, no food or water is ingested from sunrise to sunset.  Among the Orthodox Jews, Tzom Gedaliah is considered a prelude/intro., to Yom Kippur.

tzom gedaliah - fast (rosh hashanah)

Gedaliah zealously began to encourage the people to till the lands and the fields and vineyards, laying the foundation of security for a nation. Many of the Hebrews who had fled to neighboring lands during the war of destruction were attracted by the news of the revival of the community, post Babylonian captivity. They came to Gedaliah in Mizpah and were warmly welcomed by him.

432_417386508351927_1732265329_n

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ha’azinu-הַאֲזִינוּ, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 2nd-ב, & the 3rd-ג, day of the Hebrew month of the month of Tishrei-תִּשְׁרִי(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, AdmT’u-አድምጡ.  This would calculate as the 16th-፲፮, & the 17th-፲፯, of the month of Meskerém-መስከረም.  The Ethiopic calendar is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic, which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-(ግእዝ).

Hosea 14: 1-9

The Sabbath that occurs during the Ten Days of Awe (Repentance) between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.

This Sabbath is named after the first word of the HafTarah / Reading from the Prophets [Hos. 14: 2-10]

The Sabbath is bluntly named the “Sabbath of Return.”

“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

[Isa. 55:6-7]

haazinu - parsha [song of moses]

This reading of the Scriptures translates from the Hebrew as, “Listen.”  This provides a vivid imagery as Moses gives his testimony of the children of Israel’s journey.  Moses also gives his account which he received from God, about the land of Promise, and how God intends to heal the land which he Promised, and to make it fertile.

[Deut. 32: 1-14]

haazinu -parsha3

Jeshurun, or “Israel the Upright,” grew greatly, but took the wonderful position it had with God for granted. These things like: going after foreign gods and unfaithfulness, God sought to provoke the children of Israel to be moved jealousy and anger, which those of no nation; a foolish people.  He would also consume them{Israel} with burning hunger, and beasts would devour them, not regarding the young or the old.

The foolish nation, that would be void of counsel, would also be distinguishable from the children of Israel, because their ways would resemble Sodom & Gomorrah.

haazinu - parsha [mount nebo]

Moses, then was told by God to go up Mount Nebo, on Abarim, where he would be gathered to his ancestors.  Moses knew the time had come for him to pass on.  He knew that he disobeyed God at Meribah, in Kadesh-Barnea; he also, in so many words,…”placed his eggs, all in one basket, vying for the lives of the wayward children of Israel.

✡ Rosh HaShannah: Ras Tafari – (Yamim Nora’im – ימים נוראים – “Days of Awe”) ✡

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

432_417386508351927_1732265329_n

Cḥag Sameácḥ, LeShánna Tobáh!!!
Ras Tafari Renaissance sends season greetings to one and all!  On this post, the subject which we intend to cover is centered on ushering in the Hebrew Observance of Rōsh HaShánna ראש השנה.

Rosh HaShanna - Rosh Chodesh - [Tishrei 1]

Rosh HaShanna (Hebraically), is the celebration/commemoration of the conclusion to the Hebraic year – .  This commemoration also is comparable to the “Seven days of Creation” [Gen. 2-3]  These along with so many other important nuances should be relevant and incorporated into the Ras Tafari consciousness.

- etymological definitions of Rosh

– etymological definitions of Rosh

Since the inception of Ras Tafari it has been clear that the Ras Tafarians proclaim ancestral heritage with Hebraic peoples of antiquity.  Sharing ancestry with the Imperial House of David’s, Solomonic Dynasty, in Ethiopia; by way of King Solomon & the Queen of Sheba.  With that said, we recognize how gracious YHWH is, in knowing the history of Ethiopia before its Hebraic and later Christian conversions.  Ethiopia which has always had a Solar calculation in yearly counting (or Calendar count) and the Hebraic Calendar following a Lunar calculation, its clear that a wholisitc perspective is needed to under-, inner- and over-stand in entirety the teachings of the Israelites(the Hebrews).

luni-solar year calculating

Now, seeing how Ethiopia has become the ONLY Christian church upholding its Hebraic traditions intact, it should hold a critical place in the Ras Tafari faithful and those like minds to adhere to original Christian and Hebraic practices.  Rosh Hashanah is observed on the first two days of the Hebrew month of Tishrei-תִּשְׁרֵי, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar. It is also described in the Torah as

(Yōm Terū’ahיום תרועה, “a day of sounding [the Shofar-Trumpet]”).

rastafari-a-blow-de-shofar

Ras Tafari Renaissance would like to put, all that continue to, and are maybe, just checking out the site for the first time on notice.  In the continuance of bringing you all, Ras Tafari interpretations of the Scriptures from a Bible-based foundation, we’ll also bring about the basics of over-standing Hebraic Observances/Holidays/Holy Days, and build on that foundation.

Hebrew Months (in order)

So coming into the evening, we Ethiopian Hebrews and Hebrew minded peoples will bring in the new month of Tishrei, as it was taught to the children of Israel from the Scriptures.

(see also; Zikron Teruah, Blowing of the Shofar )

http://torahtothetribes.com/2012/08/yom-terurah-the-feast-of-trumpets/

http://www.judaica-guide.com/shofar/

[Lev. 23: 24]

rosh hashanna

“…the seventh month, the first day of the month, ye shall have a sabbath, a memorial, of blowing of trumpets(shofar), an holy convocation…”  & as

[Numbers 29:1]

says, the festival/memorial will be Yom Teruah-יום תרועה , (“Blowing of the Horn“)

The New Moon, is also significant to this commemoration and others alike (ie. the beginning of the Hebrew months).  Paying attention to the anatomy of the wombman(woman), from a Ras Tafari Ethiopian Hebrew perspective, we find that there is much knowledge and wisdom to be gained in the grace of the Father.  Seeing, as how the continuance of the cycles of the Moon’s phases, are congruent to the menstruation in the body of the woman; new doors of concentrated consciousness should be expounded upon.  Torah, being the schoolmaster [Gal. 3:24] of the Hebrews/Israelites, the Lunar cycles in concordance with the Hebraic months pins a central theme to the wisdom of the children of Israel.

Menstrual_Cycle_bottom

For instance, during a time like this in observance of the season of Teshu(v)bah [Time of Repentance] the women of modern Jewish/Hebrew sects are forbidden from working around the house for as in the usual work done of a housewife.  Some see this as a very chauvinistic, but in Scripture reference, the assurance of the rest and rejuvenation of the wombman, in the Hebraic perspective gives an extremely different outlook on the realism of the teachings of the TorahOld Testament.

51st & 52nd Kifil Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

432_417386508351927_1732265329_n

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Nitẓabïm-נִצָּבִים, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 24th-כד, & the 25th-כה,  day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, Q’ōmachi’ḥʷal-ቆማችኋል.  This would calculate as the 9th-፱, & the 10th-፲, of the month of Meskerém-መስከረም.

Readings:

Deuteronomy 29:10 – 30:20

Isaiah 61:10 – 63:9

Romans 10: 1-12

In this portion of the Scripture studies’, Moses tells the people that adherence and obedience to the laws, which they were given/taught would allow them to prolong their days in the land, & make them fruitful in abundance; in contrast, turning away would lead them down the road to destruction.  Only turning to the ways which the children of Israel were taught by Moses in the way of God, would lead them again into grace.  This would be the parameters for a covenant which God would make with the children of Israel.

(see Scofield Study Bible: the Palestinian Covenant; pg 250; ref Gen. 15: 18, Numb 25: 1-12)

Because of their waywardness(the Israelites); God spoke to Moses, telling him to teach the Israelites that the covenant would not only pertain to them alone, though Israel would be a people to God(himself).  The covenant would also include those that would stand with Israel, once upon hearing the words of the book of the Law.  Those who would not hearken to the word, of course, would be a testament to the judgment of disobedience.

So going forward, we also take the time to study the parsha(portion) of

Readings:

Deuteronomy 31: 1-30

Isaiah 55:6 – 56:8

Romans 10: 14-18

In this added installation of the Sabbath readings for this week; Moses prepared the children of Israel to go into the Land of Promise.  Moses, being an hundred and twenty years old, knew that the time had come when God said that he would not cross the Jordan(river).  Because, he did not sanctify God, at the waters of Meribah, he would go to sleep with his fathers, instead of enter into the Promised Land.  Moses is instructed to charge Joshua ben-Nun(the son of Nun) to lead the people in the ways God had commanded them.

He also instructed the children of Israel to set apart the Seventh Year as the “Year of Release”(or the Shemittah-שמיטה), during the time of the Feast of Tabernacles/Booths/Ingathering(ie. I greet one & all with the words of peace (Shalom/Selam), giving thanks and praises to the Most High for all of the blessings I’ve received.  Namely, the reception of the posts and efforts made here on this blog over the past couple of years.  I have admitted my flaws to a certain extent and upon presenting my information all of your support is greatly appreciated.

The special post for today is an exploration and presentation on the Ras Tafari in the diaspora of the western world & their contributions to the development of Africa; post-slave trade, and post-colonial era.

Afro-Americans, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-Hispanic people had shown their support, and often times, allegiance to the Kingdom of Ethiopia.  The reasons being were for the numerous mysteries that continued to attract people to the secluded landlocked country.  Themes stemming from the religious aspect, the halted development in various field during the time of unagitated aggression (from Fascism).  Ethiopia, for a time seemed to have not only captured eyes and ears of the world but the hearts, as well.

Many know of the contributions of the Caribbean peoples of African descent, but little is known of the descendants in the diaspora of other places aside from the valiant Afro-Caribbean islanders.

On October 4, 1935, the Fascists of Benito Mussolini’s Italy invaded the Empire of Ethiopia. Ethiopian, being the only non-colonized African country asides from Liberia (to a certain extent) the invasion of Ethiopia sparked a profound response amongst Afro/African-Americans.  While Italian-American who supported Fascist Italy, signed up and volunteered to enlist their skills, and resources to Italy; the Afro-Americans enlisted their support and skills, to Ethiopia.

Of course, after the great victory of Ethiopia over Fascist Italy and end of World War II (WWII) came, Emperor Haile Sellassie I granted 500 hectares of land to any of the descendants of Africans, (though members of the Ethiopian World Federation Inc., Ras Tafari communities in the Caribbean & the USA, would become the custodians of this mission) who suffered the atrocities of the diabolical Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

This was only the result of multiple and tactful operations made by the efforts of the Ethiopian Empire and the adoration from Afro-Americans.  The founding of the Ethiopian World Federation, Inc. Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

432_417386508351927_1732265329_n

So, with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ki-Tá(b)vō-כִּי-תָבוֹא, from the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5774 year, this Sabbath day, (as the Hebraic year comes to a close) would probably be accounted for as the 17th-יז, & the 18th-יח,  day of the Hebrew month of the month of Elūl-אֱלוּל(the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known also as, BeGébáh’m Gïzéy-በገባህም ጊዜ.  This would calculate as the 2nd-፪, & the 3rd-፫, of the month(ወርኀ) of Meskerém-መስከረም.

Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:1 – 29:8

Isaiah 60: 1-20

Ephesians 1: 3-6

Revelation 21: 10-27

This study portion of the Scriptures, deals with the children of Israel, in what order they should follow upon entering into the Land, which God had promised their foreparents.

THIS SABBATH STUDY PORTION, LAYS OUT EXACTLY HOW THE HEBREW PEOPLE WOULD BE BLESSED; ALBEIT, THEY KEPT & TOOK HEED OF THE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, OR CURSED, IF THEY WERE TO TURN AWAY FROM WHAT THEY WERE MOSES HAD TAUGHT THEM; BY WAY OF GOD’S WORD.

So, the children of Israel were to present the firstfruits(or the first portions of their harvests) of the land to the priests, and the priests were to present these firstfruits upon the altar; giving thanks & praise to God, because while in bondage/servitude the children of Israel, sewed seeds but did not reap the benefits of their labor. (for they’d worked to satisfy the needs wants of others)  In the Land of Promise, the children of Israel were at the liberty to sew their seeds with gladness and joy, keeping to the ways they were taught out of the Law of Moses.

[Deut. 26: 1-11]

ki tabo-parsha (first fruits)

Tithing: For the children of Israel, the third year, was when it would acceptable for them to give a tenth of all their harvests, appropriated to the: Levitical-Priesthood, the strangers/guests/foreigners (interpreted from the Ancient Languages of the Scriptures) which would be living among the children of Israel, along with the fatherless (or the orphaned), & the widowed.  This kind of tithing would be a testament to the children of Israel being the chosen, peculiar people (vrs.19) upon the face of the Earth, that within their gates which God had provided/promised to them, they would most certainly seek to feed, clothe & shelter.

[Deut. 26: 12-19]

ki tabo-parsha (tithes) Malachi

Moses, and the elders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, then charged the Hebrew people to keep all of the commandments, laws and statutes which were set out for them; and upon crossing over the river Jordan into the Land of Promise, on Mount Ebal-(ጌባል ተራራ/הר עיבל‎), the children of Israel were build an altar with whole stones to God-writing the Law(Torah) on these great stones.  This mountain was to be a mountain where peace offerings were to be made to God.

[Deut. 27: 1-8]

ki tab(v)o - parsha

Now, with this ordination, there then came the two mountains.  Moses & the Levites spoke to the Hebrew people, explaining that upon these works, the children of Israel should take heed to themselves, for they were to become the people of God; pending, they would harken to his laws.

ki tab(v)o - bible-archeology-altar-of-joshua-amphitheater-between-mt-gerizim-ebal

Moses then said, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim(ገሪዛን ተራራ/הר גּרזים) to bless the people: Simeon, Levi , Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin:

Blessings-Curses

(verse 12) And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal to curse the people: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulon, Dan, and Naphtali.

(verse 13)

“…And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations wither the LORD shall lead thee…” [Deut. 28: 37]

From there, the Levites, then laid out the a proclamation of the curses, for those who would turn away from the law.
