27th & 28th Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

I welcome you all to one of the many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied the Torah portion of Tazria-תַזְרִיעַ , for this week, in this mode of study, for those out in the diaspora or outside Jerusalem or Israel.  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the year 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 2nd & 3rd day of the month of Iyar- אִייָר‎ . (The Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon) but,  from an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Bitaregiz-ብታረግዝ, on the 4th()& 5th() day of ወርኀ(month)- ሚያዝያ(Meeyazya). The Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) aligns to this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ).

Readings:

Leviticus 12:1- 13:59

II Kings 4:42- 5:19

John 6:8-13

Matthew 8:1-4

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the God of Israel, speaks to Moses in the manner of explanation on childbirth. This portion of Scriptures has a defined word that comes to a literal english meaning of…”when she conceives.” God explains to Moses the order of actions that should take place upon the birth of children among them.(Hebrews/Israelites)  For the women of Ras Tafari, I personally, take the responsibility in informing the sistren(sisterhood) of Ras Tafari, along with those who will inquire of these studies to pay a specific attention to this parsha(portion) of Scripture. Tazria, gives a word-sound(interpretation) on the method of recovery for women, who have given birth to a child.

Now, I know what questions may arise from “Bible critiques”, or whoever so finds themselves displeased with the Bible teachings for whatever reason. But, let us consider this?,…If the Bible was as much a hindrance as those who ascribe to a; “…the Bible is the cause for many-a-dismay, in today’s society, globally…” 1) then, why was the Bible tampered with, pertaining to its content (question arises from the amount of Books that were canonized or commissioned to encompass what was to finally become the modernized version(s) of the Holy Bible),

2) why did the Bible have so many translations to come down from its original language to be properly understood by the masses of people?

This collage shows the Early Language with their script(writings) in Biblical form; from L-R= Amharic-Ge'ez script, Hebrew-Aramaic script, Arabic-(which was also at one time called Syretic-Hebrew, pertaining to the dialect of the speaker's origin), Koine Greek script, & the later Latin. All of these languages were complied writing of the Scriptures before the compositions took place to present them in English. {give or take, a few more languages & dialects}

3) & who were the appropriate authorities that took it upon themselves or received ordination to compile or divide the Scriptures for scrutiny?

I, personally have found that most of the critiques of the Bible and those who study, to seek & find answers to these questions rarely have a solid explanation or even sufficient disagreement as to why, when & where these happenings take place, but let me not deter OUR main goal here,…which the study for this Sabbath.

The Scripture study for this Sabbath lays a foundation for the rest period of a mother who has recently given birth & how things should go about for the retrieval of her strength, physically and mentally; dealing with it from a Hebraic/Israelitish Torah perspective.

[ Lev.; Chpt. 12 (entire chapter) ]

But, even in this case, the method presented can either be enlightening and show a parallel to “modern world” childbirth…or by the wording, which comes to us in a slew of mistranslation can deter one from looking to the Scriptures to seek some understanding of the universal issues of life. {with that said, RE-consider the (5)five-fold, depiction of the Early languages of the Bible shown above before discrediting the words used in this study of Leviticus, before condemning them as useless or demeaning to women= words like unclean seem to stir dismay. The word unclean- comes to a meaning of defiled or polluted, in a moral sense when decoded from Biblical Scripture, in this use of it in the context of a few verses in Leviticus.} For example, a woman’s health is given no thought, unless clear signs are identified when she is going about her daily routine, when she has not given birth to a child. (so, the human exchange of a simple embrace-hug, handshake, monetary exchange etc., is of no significance to anyone, with a woman who has not given birth. But, on the flip-side of that, is a woman, blessed for giving birth to another human being in the manner of all female mammals upon the Earth. But, it should be a known fact that, rest and recovery are “I-tal”(vital) to a woman’s betterment; post-childbirth. Any woman in this world should agree to that premise, especially, seeing as they take full advantage of maternity leave for an occupation or what-have-you, along with other benefits and accommodations that concentrate on women’s issues, & that alone. These issues & their benifits have no complaints from the opposite sex.)

So, in encouragement to the women who will see this post from Ras Tafari Renaissance, please remember that here we insist that the mind, and heart remain open to receive what can be useful in spiritual growth.

God also instructed Moses, to teach the children of Israel, the ritual and cultural practices, along with the sacrifices or offerings that were to be made for the ushering of a newborn into the community of Israel.  [Lev. 13 (entire chapter)]

*THIS WEEK’S SABBATH IS ALSO A DOUBLE-PORTION OF STUDY*

*THIS STUDY IS ALSO THE 1ST SABBATH OF A NEW MONTH(Iyar)*

The second portion of the study of the Scriptures for this week is Metz’orah- מְּצֹרָעMetz’orah has a meaning that comes in the English as either “one being diseased,” or “one infected.”  In the Ethiopic-Judeo-Christian perspective, this parsha(portion) of the Scriptures is named Bements’atu Q’en-በመንጻቱ ቀን.

Readings:

Leviticus 14:1-15:33

II Kings 7:3-20

This study deals with the interaction with what has come to be known as a “Leper.” God instructs Moses, on how to deal with those ho may be of Israel who might become infected with the disease of leprosy [Lev. 14: 1-32], and even those who may not be of Israel but, certainly seek the healing of their ailment. [Lev. 14:32-57]

There are also regards to the degrees of the infections of disease among the people and whomever they may encounter while on the trod(journey/walk) to their Promised Land(which is Canaan, at this point in the Scriptures).

[Lev. 15: 1-33]

In keeping true to his covenant with Israel, God has continued to show that his knowledge is Supreme and the intent is for the well-being of the children of Israel to be fruitful. In this parsha, God continues to provide abundant information, to Moses to relay to the community to apply to their everyday life.  This, following the last study, which dealt with the livity(diet) that Israel were to up-keep from generation to generation…God has clearly begun to show his many hats or OVER-standing(knowledge) to Israel, going from health-to-science. {when dealing with childbirth & healing the sick}

[SIDEBAR NOTES: FOR FURTHER STUDY]

Leprosy, has sprung not only many questions for its origin and solution, but also has divided so many people on the issue of its context from a Biblical stance. The infamous “Curse of Ham” hoax, has become the basis for the disposition of the Black people of the World. As you should know by now, if you’ve been following these posting here…this is a RAS TAFARIAN, JUDEO-CHRISTIAN, blog space! So before we condemn anything, we shall seek & pray that the ALMIGHTY will provide all the answers we need. We intend to be diligent & slow to anger. Pick up & bear OUR own cross, as the CHRIST did for the world, according to the Scriptures.

So, when it comes to the fabled “Curse of Ham,” we in no way, shape, form, or fashion, agree with what has and is-, presented in this hoax.  If those, who say they are well versed in the study of Scriptures, hold to this, then it is obvious that either their reading or comprehension has betrayed them on a mass scale! Because, clearly in the Bible, in whatever language you are able to grasp it in,…it will clearly show you that NO CURSE WAS PLACED UPON HAM(one of the three{3} sons of Noah).  YOU WILL THOUGH, FIND THAT THERE WAS A CLEAR AND DISTINCT CURSE PLACED UPON CANAAN(the son of Ham; grandson of Noah)!

{PROOF: Genesis 9:25;…more on the story= read/study Genesis 9:18-10:32}

*P.S., RRR(Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations blog) followers, please take some time to check out the movie “Kingdom of Heaven”

kingdom of heaven2

–the movie deals with the Crusaders period in Jerusalem, but the focus I, would like for those who have taken the time to read through this weeks’ blog/study, to turn their attention to the character of King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem. Baldwin IV(the fourth[4th]), just so happened to be a “leper,” or stricken with the disease of leprosy.  But, his character showed a mode of integrity that I, personally, found intriguing & just. Though, the character may have deviated from the true essence of who Baldwin IV, really was, I could certainly appreciate the art put forth in the work of the movie.
