25th Parsha Study: Ras Tafari Renaissance Revelations

Greetings in the name of His & Her Imperial Majesties Qedamawi Haile Sellassie I & Itege Menen Asfaw,

416951_10152196717220147_1724870670_n

I welcome you all to one of many interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ts’a(w)v-צו . , for this week, from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel. Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of Shemini. From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 18th & 19th of the month of Nisan- נִיסָן‎ . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Azzezachew-አዘዛቸው , on the 20th & 21st day of ወርኀ(month)- መጋቢት(Megabeet). On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ)

Readings:

Leviticus 6:8- 8:36

Jeremiah 7:21- 8:3

Jeremiah 9:22-24

Hebrews 7: 23- 8:6

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses receives further instructions from God about the laws and statutes for the “Sacrifices”/”Offerings,” that are to be administered by the preiesthood for the children of Israel.

The law for the burnt offerings-Olah[עלה]; Aaron & his descendants were to dress themselves in the priestly garments of the linen to administer the works within the tabernacle, first. Then the priesthood were to offer the burning to be upon the altar, and it was to burn all night until the morning. [Lev. 6:8-13]

The law for the “meat”(also can be referred to as the meal/freewill/grain offerings-MinKH’ah[מנחה]; Aaron & his descendants were also to take in a freewill offering if, one was to be brought by someone of the congregation. The offerings was to be prepared with flour, oil, frankincense and to be burnt upon the altar to God. What was left over was to be eaten by the priesthood with unleavened bread, in the Holy Place of the Mishkan(Tabernacle). [Lev. 6:14-23]

sacrifices-offerings-Brazen-altar

The law of the sin offerings (referred to as the one of two of the “MOST HOLY OFFERINGS” along with the guilt offering; also could be known as a “purification” offering)-KH’atat[חטאת]; the sin offering was to make atonement for one, who had committed an offense unintentionally{no offering could atone for an intentional sin}. The sin offering’s blood was to be used within the Tabernacle but, the flesh was to be burned outside of even the camp of Tabernacle. [Lev. 6:24-30]

{SIDEBAR}

For the Ras Tafari & those whom immerse themselves in the languages of the ancients, I would like to address a very quaint note that I just happened to catch while going through this week’s portion of the Torah study. Many of the Ras Tafari elders in its beginning movements, unapologetically continued to make the assessments that the origin of the Hebrews/Israelites’ faith, & lineage rest within a Shemitic paradigm that has its foundation birthed from African spirituality. Though, many aspects of this conclusion have to be presented to overtake the bombarded minds of society.

[bombarded minds–what we call here @ Ras Tafari Renaissance, “THE BLIND I’z(eyes)“]

Ras Tafari Renaissance gives its testimony to these notions. & with that mouthful said, I would like for you ALL to take a look at the Hebrew word for sin. Its sound and pronunciation leads to the exact word for sin in the Ethiopian-Amharic language. Giving even more validity to the story of the Queen of Sheba & King Solomon, along with the traditional story of the re-establishment of the Hebrew/Israelite kingdom of Southern Judah in Ethiopia with the Sheba & Solomon’s child, Menyelik I. Now, why would make such a claim, you say? It is because this is only ONE of many words that have similar sounds and phonetics; take the word priest in both languages Hebrew says,Kohen- כֹּהֵן : Amharic says, Kahin-ካህን, or the word blessed,…Hebrew says, BaruKH’- ברוך  , Amharic says, Biruk- ቡሩክ . Seriously, this could go on for quite some time….But to bring this to summation, this also, appraises the reality of the existence of the Beta Israel(Ethiopian Jews); who’s lineage has been constantly challenged by other Jewish critics and idealists. So, to keep from going on & on, about this subject (as if I haven’t already, lol…) the word for sin in Hebrew is KH’at’a or KH’atat[ חטאת / חטאה ] & the same word comes to be called KH’atiat [ ኀጢአት ] in the Amharic language of Ethiopia… peculiar???,…maybe, maybe not.

The law for the peace offerings (also could be called the fellowship/freewill offerings)-Shelamiy’m[שלמים]; this offering was to be giving by anyone of the congregation in thanksgiving to God. There were also specifications of the offerings depending on the subject of the offering being given. Whether it be of thankfulness of a blessing from a vow, general thanksgiving to God, or for the joyous willingness of the heart.

& the law for the trespass offering (also was an offering considered “MOST HOLY OFFERINGS” along with sin offering & could be also called the guilt/reparation offering)-Asham[אשם]; this offering was to be brought for the atonement to the same place as the burnt offering, as well as, sprinkle the blood thereof round about the altar. There were also parts used in the Tabernacle, and the flesh burned outside the camp like the sin offering.

Hand gesture of the Kohanim(Priesthood) when giving a blessing.

After the laws were laid for the foundations of the sacrifices/offerings, Moses was to consecrate his brother Aaron, and his sons(along with ALL his descendants) to be the anointed priesthood, to carry out the works of God for the children of Israel.

**FOR THE DAUGHTERS OF ZION, Part 2: A Shining Example**

Greetings in the names of their Imperial Majesties, Empress Menen Asfaw & Emperor Haile Sellassie I, of Ethiopia.

This is Lidj Yefdi, bringing you, yet another post from Ras Tafari Renaissance. I sincerely appreciate all of the positive vibes and feedback I’ve received from those who have reasoned & spoken well of the postings here. MAY JAH DELIVER MY GRATITUDE & BLESS, YOU ALL EXCEEDINGLY!

I, sincerely hope everyone who took the time to recognize, remember and recall the Passover for this season enjoyed themselves in God[JAH]’s grace & will receive his blessing in due time.

For those who do not enjoin themselves to Judaic or Hebraic ways of life or perspectives; Passover, is a “high holy day,” & a memorial to the those who see it as such[esp. the Israelites]. Passover, whom many may recall from Hollywood’s depiction in the “Ten Commandments,” featuring Charlton Heston,
is a commemoration of the Exodus from Egypt. It story can be recounted from the Biblical Book of Exodus, itself.

Though, I will surely delve deeper into the details of the Passover and its significance, along with its adherents in another post, but, here I would like to present the main topic and keep attention to the focal point of this second installation of **For the Daughters Of Zion**.

For the daughters, hopefully this Passover memorial should’ve been a very special & intimate event. If it was,…then, I, Lidj Yefdi, send my greetings and respects to the opened I’z(eyes) of the truly blessed Ras Tafari daughters, and ones alike. To the brothers, if it was so fitting, along with the telling of the story of the Exodus from Egypt, which is known by the Hebraic perspective as the Maggid(pronounced=Ma’Geed)- מגיד

This Passover memorial has a great significance to the children of Israel because it just so happens that the beginning of this year’s Passover has a tri-fold of spiritual abundance. Why,…you say????

well……..

1) As I already explained, the Passover is commemorated by the Israelites being brought out of Egypt by the mighty hand of God. There was also sacred ordering of the entire community of Hebrews, which was to take place to show the dedication of the Hebrews to God; this included the Passover Seder-סדר פסח.

2) This Passover also calls to remembrance of the Israelites, the Paschal Lamb, and the “ultimate sacrifice,” of Christ the Messhiah, whom also shared a Passover Seder with the twelve apostles, which can also be known today as the “Last Supper.”

3) In the year of the (Ethiopic 2005 A.D.-7505 E.C.), this year’s Passover coincides with Her Imperial Highness’; the Queen of Queens of Ethiopia, Empress Menen Asfaw’s Baptism.

This stands as monumental in Ras Tafari, here at Ras Tafari Renaissance mainly because the teachings of the Holy Scriptures clearly states in Matthew 12:42, and in Luke 11:31, that the Queen of the South shall rise with this generation. Now, the Queen of the South, obviously, from diligent investigation of Scripture has its inception with the Queen of Sheba, & as Ras Tafari children of King Solomon, it should be made clear that Empress Menen’s assumes that position.{in the Ancient of Days-in JAH}

So, to the Daughters of Zion, Ras Tafari bredrin salute you for your dedication to the restoration of OUR DIVINE HERITAGE, in whatever way you’ve seen fit to contribute. This Sabbath, being that in will take us right into the High Holy Days of Passover, & the Feast of Unleavened Bread, it is known as Shabbot Hagadol.

Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of Tz’av(w).  From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 12th & 13th of the month of Nisan- נִיסָן‎ . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as T’erto-ጠርቶ , on the 13th & 14th of ወርኀ(month)- መጋቢት(Megabeet). Isaiah 43:21- 44:23

Hebrews 10:1-18

Hebrews 13:10-15

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses receives the laws and statutes for the “Sacrifices”/”Offerings,” which are to be made for forgiveness/atonement for sins of the children of Israel. The details are explained to Moses, in relevance to the nature or the action, of the sin that may have been committed. Upon the realization of the sin, its offerings are categorized in different ways, so to speak.

For instance, the sacrifice of an animal permissible for the action, was to take the place of the sinner, who had sinned against God, his commandments, or laws and statutes. Sin was forgiven by faith and repentance, but no because of the ultimate sacrifice, & fulfillment of Scriptures, Christ took on the sins of the world, like a Paschal Lamb of Passover.  The Paschal Lamb was the unblemished animal which used to mark the doors of the Israelites on the night the 10th plague of the “Death of the First Born Of Egypt” was to pass through the land. [Ex. 11:1- 12:13]  Christ established the new covenant with sacrificing himself, which also became revealed in his speaking over the sharing of the Passover Seder, with the apostles, in the Upper Room. [Mt. 26:29]

The Korbanot(קורבנות) – Offerings

The offering of sacrificial animals and grains were a strong focal point of the Torah, not bribe God, for every animal of the earth, God created, was and belonged to God, anyway.

sacrifice-priest-offering

Blood made a consecration and an atonement, with God. Blood is the life of flesh, so the blood makes atonement for the soul and the is symbolizes holiness through sacrifice. The sacrifical sytem made a representation of a life sacrificed for a life, with the wage of sin being death. [Rm. 6:23]

Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of (W)Vayikra. Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, Moses relays the rules & regulations for the Sabbath & how they are to conduct themselves and teach the following generations as a statute among them, forever. Moses also gave the instructions of God, to the children of Israel for the construction of the tabernacle.  He explains how two chosen among them were Betz’aleel ben Uri(ben Uri=son of Uri), out of the tribe of Judah, & Aholiab ben Achiycamakh(ben Achiycamakh=son of Achiycamakh) were called by God to be the craftsmen of the Tabernacle in the wilderness.

The children of Israel were to bring, of a willing heart, offerings to God that would aid in the construction of the tabernacle. Things like: fine linen of the colors blue, purple, scarlet, goat’s hair, badger’s skin, shittim wood, as well as, ram’s skin{dyed red}, gold, silver, oil for light, spices(for anointing and the candlestick-lampstand and incense), brass. Also, onyx stones for the ephod, & the “wise-hearted” [Ex. 36: 5-35]

While the people brought willing to God the items, which they could provide, but it was brought to Moses’ attention that they brought more than what would be needed. Moses then gave commandment and proclamation to the children of Israel that they be restrained from bringing anymore gifts/offerings to the builders and the wise-hearted for the service. I welcome you all to one of many of the interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read in a Jewish/Hebrew cycle of readings, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion of Ki-Tis(h)a-כִּי תִשָּׂא , from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel. Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of V(W)ayakhel. From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 26th & 27th of the month of  Adar-אֲדָר . (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as BeQweT’erhachew Gizeyበቈጠርሃችው ጊዜ; on the 29th & 30th of ወርኀ(month)- የካቲት(Yekateet).

Readings:

Exodus 30: 11-34:35

I Kings 18: 1-39

II Corinthians 3: 1-18

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the men of the children of Israel were to make Atonement for them and their families. So, in turn, the atonement that was made by the men of the families could have been compared to a sort of census taking an account for the children of Israel. A half-shekel of silver was what was known to be used to donate to the sanctuary of Israel. The finest of spices and of oils, and these were to be taken for an anointment, as well. The ten of the Tabernacle was to be anointed, the Ark of the Covenant, along with all that was in the sanctuary. The Sabbath was to be continually kept, for how the anointing sanctified the Tabernacle; the Sabbath sanctified them to God.

Half_Shekel

More instruction for the construction of the fixings of the Tabernacle were run down to Moses in the portion of the Scriptures.  The bronze water basin was where the priests (Aaron and his descendants) were to wash before carrying out the duties that were to be done in service of the Tabernacle. Many can draw very close conclusions to how Christ wash the feet of the 12(twelve) disciples on Passover before he was betrayed to this way of service.{Putting Christ, in the seat of a High Priest;  [Melchisedeq]*}. The Anointing Oil was for the priests to be anointed before conducting the service of the ministry and for all the objects of the sanctuary.

Moses, then speaks of two chosen to build for Israel, the sanctuary. Betz’alel, of Judah(son of Uri), and Aholiab, of Dan(son of Achiycamak); would build: the tabernacle, the ark, and all the furniture for the sancutuary, along with these: the garments of the priests, also.

Moses then, ascends the Mount, that is Sinai, & it would seem to the children of Israel, that he would never return, for he stayed for forty days. But, once he descended, he found that Aaron & the Levites had molted gold together to make a calk that the children of Israel worshipped.

Khepera

The sacred covering of the Ark of The Covenant, which the Kohanim were to give service to on behalf the children of Israel, is called Kapporeth-כפורת , so finding out why I placed a picture of what might be known as Khepri, I’ll leave up to anyone who’s curious enough to take a look for themselves. I would elaborate more on how linguistics also play a part in the understanding of Scripture, but that’s pretty apparent. Though, it may seem, out of context that there could possibly be more connections of the Hebrew/Jewish thought and practice, to the Ancient Egyptian Mysteries or the traditional Judeo-Christian aspects of this, it meets more points of similarity than most people can see. For example, in Hebrew, the Holy of Holies is named as the Kodesh HaKodeshiyim-קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים , and semantically similar in the ancient Ge’ez old Ethiopic language of the Ethiopian-Jews and Ethiopia entirely, the same is called the Qedeste Qiddusan-ቀደስተ ቅዱሳን & slightly different in Amharic, of the Ethiopian-Orthodox church-Qidusse Qiddusan.
