I welcome you all to one of many of the interpretations of the Scriptures from the light of Ras Tafari by, I, Lidj Yefdi (pronounced Lij, Yef-dee).

Please, excuse me for not covering what is known as the parsha or Torah study portions that preceeded this thirteenth edition? But. I assure you that if you are patient with me, come with an open mind and heart, you will receive more than what you might have asked for in seeking the perspective of a Ras Tafarian’s I-sight (eyesight) into the study of the Scriptures.

Now, with that said, let us go right into this…

So,with this Hebrew Shabbot(or Sabbath day) if those who actually open up their Bibles to read, & thoroughly discern, nonetheless studied either the Torah portion BeshalaKH’ – בְּשַׁלַּח , from a Jewish/Hebrew mode of study for those out in the diaspora, living outside of Jerusalem or Israel. Others who engage this type of study more than likely read the portion of Yitro. From the Jewish or Hebraic Calendar in the 5773 this Sabbath day would probably fall on the 7th & 8th day of the month Shevat-שְׁבָט. (the Hebrew Calendar corresponds to a Lunar cycle of the Moon)From an Ethiopic-Christian perspective and calculation these readings from the Scriptures would align to what is known as Minim Q’rb BeehOn-ምንም ቅርብ ቢሆን; on the 24th & 25th of ወርኀ(month)-ጥር(T’r). On the Ethiopic calendar, which is solar (with its correspondence to the Sun) this Sabbath (or Senbet-ሰንበት) in the Ethiopian language of Amharic which is currently one of the languages of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church(the other language being Ge’ez-ግእዝ)

Readings:

Exodus 13:17- 17:16

Judges 4:4- 5:31

John 6:15-71

Now, for in summation of the study we have in front of us; In this portion of the study of the Scriptures, the children of Israel are finally release from the hard bondage of Egypt(with the Pharoah “or governing house”) that knew not of Joseph. Moses and his brother Aaron have spoken the words of the God of Israel to the king of Egypt and the plagues have shown the wonders that have come to pass by the mighty hand of God.

The Children of Israel have taken all of their possessions along with spoils of Egypt, which they could gather by blessing to carry along on their journey.  Upon the Israelites(Hebrew children’s) journey, Moses fulfills Joseph’s wishes of taking his bones out of Egypt & on the journey of the Hebrews back to their Promised Land, to be buried with his ancestors.  {Ex. 13:19}

[Exodus 13:19_ And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly swron the children of Israel that, saying God shall surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones hence with you.]
Moses [ ሙሴ ] ( מושה )

Its been said that in some circles of Ras Tafari, the Legend of Reggae music, Bob Marley, has been compared to Biblical Joseph: hmmmm,…???

Joseph-coat of many colors

Both also, had their last wishes for their remains to be returned to land where they would rest with their ancestors. [Joseph- Israel], [Bob-Ethiopia]

LOVE & HONOR, JAH(God) GUIDE RITA MARLEY ALONG WITH THE SEEDS OF THE GREAT LEGEND OF REGGAE MUSIC & RAS TAFARI TUFF GONG!!!

The children of Israel began their “Exodus”(-exit, going out) from Egypt & were lead by God, even in their ignorance of omni-prescence that was with them.

And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. And the LORD went before them by dayin a pillar of a cloud, to lead them by the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day & night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. {Ex. 13: 20-22}

PILLAR OF FIRE: BY NIGHT, TO GIVE LIGHT
Israel’s [possible] track out of Egypt

In discontent, and the words of some of the attendants in the Egyptian court, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened [by God], so Pharaoh summoned for 600 of his first choice of chariots, along with all the chariots of Egypt, with the captains of them & was in “hot-pursuit” of returning the children of Israel back to Egypt(& back to servitude). {Ex. 14: 3-12}

Fearful of the pursuit of the chariots of Egypt, the children of Israel, cried out to God, & turn to Moses, in disbelief of the happenings in front of them. Moses, then commands them to fear not, for the God of Israel will do battle for them,…they are commanded by God, through Moses, to go: FORWARD!

Moses is then commanded by God to stretch forth his rod & God through Moses splits the Sea of Reeds(Red Sea) and the children of Israel travel through on dry land. Whereas, the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart drove him to pursue the Israelites/Hebrews into the sea; they were swallowed up by it. & the children of Israel had the words of Moses fulfilled right before their eyes; God would do battle for them, if they stayed in the way of his light, the Egyptians which they saw, they would never see again, & they would know the YHWH EloHIM is GOD {Ex. 14: 13-31}

Moses, then sang, & the children of Israel, did sing…

{Ex. 15}

Song Of The Sea/Song of Moses: Exodus 15: 1-21

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying,

“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
 The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
 The Lord is a man of war;
the Lord is his name.

“Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he cast into the sea,
and his chosen officers were sunk in the Red Sea.
 The floods covered them;
they went down into the depths like a stone.
 Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power,
your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.
 In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries;
you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble.
 At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up;
the floods stood up in a heap;
the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them.
I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’
 You blew with your wind; the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty waters.

 “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
 You stretched out your right hand;
the earth swallowed them.

 “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed;
you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.
 The peoples have heard; they tremble;
pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia.
 Now are the chiefs of Edom dismayed;
trembling seizes the leaders of Moab;
all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
 Terror and dread fall upon them;
because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone,
till your people, O Lord, pass by,
till the people pass by whom you have purchased.
 You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain,
the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode,
the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established.
 The Lord will reign forever and ever.”

For when the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. 20 Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. 21 And Miriam sang to them:

Song of the Sea- שירת הים (Shirat H’yam)

HOW QUICKLY DO, ONES-N-ONES, FORGET THOUGH…?

In the wilderness of Shur, the children of Israel begin to lose faith, & murmur against Moses, because of thirst. {Ex. 15:  22-27}

& then they murmur again, against Moses & Aaron, because of their hunger, next…Moses explains that God hears their murmuring & will provide for them, in exchange that they keep all his commandments & statutes {Ex. 16:}

The Israelites are then, faced with an enemy to them: Amalek. Joshua, the son of Nun( Hoshea/Yeshua ben Nun) is called by Moses to go and chose men of the camps to fight Amalek, while Moses will stand atop of a hill with the rod God, in hand. During the battle, it was apparent that whenever Moses raised his arms with the rod, Israel prevailed, but when his arms grew tired Israel loss ground, so Aaron & Hur, placed stones under Moses’ hands to keep them upright until Israel had emerged as victor. Moses is then told by God, to write this victory as a memorial in a book, because Amalek(the Amalikites) will be an enemy to God from generation-to-generation. God said that he would utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
